Addressing the OP. I pray it helps.
Zechariah 9:9 KJV
[9] Rejoice greatly, O daughter of Zion; shout, O daughter of Jerusalem: behold, thy King cometh unto thee: he is just, and having salvation; lowly, and riding upon an ass, and upon a colt the foal of an ass.
Which is it? Upon an ass or upon a colt (the foal of an ass)?
Way back in Genesis 49:11-12 the Lord shows us what He has done in preparation for Salvation as He: binds his foal and his ass's colt:
[11] Binding his foal unto the vine, and his ass's colt unto the choice vine; he washed his garments in wine, and his clothes in the blood of grapes: [12] His eyes shall be red with wine, and his teeth white with milk.
Then as the Lord enters in fulfillment of:
Zechariah 9:9 KJV
[9] Rejoice greatly, O daughter of Zion; shout, O daughter of Jerusalem: behold, thy King cometh unto thee: he is just, and having salvation; lowly, and riding upon an ass, and upon a colt the foal of an ass.
(Luke 19) "And when he was come nigh, even now at the descent of the mount of Olives, the whole multitude of the disciples began to rejoice and praise God with a loud voice for all the mighty works that they had seen;
Saying, Blessed be the King that cometh in the name of the Lord: peace in heaven, and glory in the highest.
And some of the Pharisees from among the multitude said unto him, Master, rebuke thy disciples.
And he answered and said unto them, I tell you that, if these should hold their peace, the stones would immediately cry out."
(The stones being (Us) those that are His and groaning for Salvation and peace.)
But before Jesus enters:
Mark 11:4-7 KJV
[4] And they went their way, and found the colt tied by the door without in a place where two ways met; and they loose him.
They found the colt tied by a door without: a place where two ways met. The Old Covenant and the New Covenant. (The mosaic Law and Grace)...and they loose; scripture tells us...the Colt. Remember the ass and the colt of an ass were tied to vine and the choice vine in Genesis. And here is the Messiah Loosening them and bringing them into the city.
[5] And certain of them that stood there said unto them, What do ye, loosing the colt? [6] And they said unto them even as Jesus had commanded: and they let them go. [7] And they brought the colt to Jesus, and cast their garments on him; and he sat upon him.
What did Jesus Command them to tell them:
Matthew 21:3 KJV
[3] And if any man say ought unto you, ye shall say, The Lord hath need of them; and straightway he will send them.
One of the many things prepared for and by the Lord: "The Lord hath need of them."
Psalm 102:20 KJV
[20] To hear the groaning of the prisoner; to loose those that are appointed to death;
Psalm 146:7-9 KJV
[7] Which executeth judgment for the oppressed: which giveth food to the hungry. The Lord looseth the prisoners: [8] The Lord openeth the eyes of the blind: the Lord raiseth them that are bowed down: the Lord loveth the righteous: [9] The Lord preserveth the strangers; he relieveth the fatherless and widow: but the way of the wicked he turneth upside down.
Isaiah 51:14 KJV
[14] The captive exile hasteneth that he may be loosed, and that he should not die in the pit, nor that his bread should fail.
Consider those fallen into a pit; same as Joseph and same as the one Jesus pulled from a pit on the Sabbath.
Isaiah 52:2 KJV
[2] Shake thyself from the dust; arise, and sit down, O Jerusalem: loose thyself from the bands of thy neck, O captive daughter of Zion.
What is bound upon the necks: heavy burdens the Pharisees loved to place on people, yet they did not loose which was in their power to do so. Obviously, or they would not have been rebuked for not doing so.
One of my favorites : Daniel 3:25 KJV
[25] He answered and said, Lo, I see four men loose, walking in the midst of the fire, and they have no hurt; and the form of the fourth is like the Son of God.
Jesus Christ has loosed us from the Law and has set us free.
He has pulled us from the pit.
The New covenant, the colt that had never been ridden, is brought in alongside Jesus Christ on his first appearance as King(having Salvation), coming into Jerusalem.
Matthew 16:18-19 KJV
[18] And I say also unto thee, That thou art Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it. [19] And I will give unto thee the keys of the kingdom of heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt bind on earth shall be bound in heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven.
Now consider the command Jesus gave concerning the ass and colt: Loose them: "The Lord hath need of them."
Luke 13:12 KJV
[12] And when Jesus saw her, he called her to him , and said unto her, Woman, thou art loosed from thine infirmity.
Luke 1:64 KJV
[64] And his mouth was opened immediately, and his tongue loosed , and he spake, and praised God.
Luke 13:16 KJV
[16] And ought not this woman, being a daughter of Abraham, whom Satan hath bound, lo, these eighteen years, be loosed from this bond on the sabbath day?
Mark 7:35 KJV
[35] And straightway his ears were opened, and the string of his tongue was loosed, and he spake plain.
Matthew 13:30 KJV
[30] Let both grow together until the harvest: and in the time of harvest I will say to the reapers, Gather ye together first the tares, and bind them in bundles to burn them: but gather the wheat into my barn. The wheat is gathered into His barn.
HIS is the barn we should be filling with treasure.
Not our own barn.
We are bound to Christ (NT) and loosed from the OT.
