My general objection is that it is a momentary decision with a permanent consequence. That seems generally unwise. On a personal level, I am a wimp and prefer to avoid pain rather than deliberately seek it out. However, I know other people that have deep, strong reasons to get a specific tattoo
christianforumsMy dear Dad had two tattoos but that was from his navy days.
I have noticed however that lots of young girls have them and what is really noticeable is a huge amount are women say around their sixties .
@marks I know you're not into tattoos at all, although your mother-in-law might be, just a bit.My mother in law had her eyebrows tattooed. Afterward she often looked surprised.
Much love!
@devin553344 A lot of young Christians have this same idea.I do have a good idea for a tattoo from scripture.
Yes, related to Cancer. For a few years around 2005, I kept getting various kinds of Cancer. I have had every treatment know to mankind. God has helpped me beat them all. The tats were related to Prostrate Cancer.@The Learner So are they medical ones, or what, maybe?
@atpollard This is really exactly the point that Heavenhome makes - albeit indirectly: it's often the more mature women who will have a well thought out tattoo design that they have planned for a long time and are not deflected from it - far from being a momentary decision.
The huge demographic she mentions would indeed likely reflect great determination and aforethought about their aspired to designs:

Hi @VictoryinJesus Did you see the recent poll, above? I think there is a fairly comprehensive range of poll response options (if you can think of any more good poll response options, do let me know.........)
@Marilyn C Thanks for your comment - and poll vote, above.Hi farouk,
I actually have a niece who does tattooing. I personally don`t like them, (being of an older generation) but I would support the person in their life and pray they would come to know the Lord.
Marilyn.
Tattoos are unlady-like. That is why I would never have one.
tattoos ... everyone and their grandmothers has them now and, they do not a thing for me, what can I say? Pretty much every one I know, and that includes Christians and myself, have a tattoo so...I am not criticizing anybody here or anywhere...
Most definitely.
I felt good about it. ..I was 50 when I had mine done..I had weighed everything up , talked to my pastor, reflected on scripture
O yea my mother has one lol.
FAll my kids have tattoos, I have none. It's a generational/cultural phenomena that comes and goes with the times. If one of my kids wanted to work in a parlour I'd be nonplussed, but it's their choice- not mine to make. I raised my kids to be entrepreneurial and adventurous, unafraid and not dependent on my approval for a sense of worth.
My Navy son has an American flag with an eagle, and a Spartan/Gladiator thingy. My middle has a Canadian flag- from a Canadian National Team he represented, my youngest something with mountains he got to match with a girlfriend he no longer has-- (the girlfriend that is, the tattoo he still has lol) and my two daughters both have something significant of their children (little birdies and such).
Yes I was a bit shocked really, she is 84 now but it was about 10 years ago, she got a dolphin on her wrist lol@BeyondET So were you a bit surprised at first when your mother got her tattoo?
(As @Marilyn C shows, above, often family members are quite involved with tattoos these days...)

It is no doubt when I was younger I didn't see alot of women with tattoos but today wow I see them everywhere. Why people have gone crazy over them I've no idea.

In my opinion I don't like the look of tattoos on the skin, I like just plain old skin look without the added markings lol.
almost every young girl I know has some sort of tatoo.
Even those very conservative types
forums dot thewelltrainedmind dot comAround here (Bible Belt), it is common, especially among evangelical Christians, for the girls under about 40 to have religious tattoos. More do than don't, especially when you get to the under 30 crowd. I hardly know any female at church that is under 30 that does not have a tattoo.
allnurses dot comI am a nurse in a cardiac ICU. I am also pretty heavily tattooed. I am a well educated, well rounded nurse, and was raised with strong morals and manners. .. I am an extremely traditional person. I've always worn long sleeves .. I love having a professional persona as well as a unique one while I'm not working
PS: @BeyondET A lot of designs are faith based; and so you can see it's logical that many Christian women would thus regard the tattoo artist profession positively also, right?...but today wow I see them everywhere.
I know i have seen alot crosses faith base tattoos etc. But that to me seems a bit odd. Maybe I'm just old school I don't know hehe..PS: @BeyondET A lot of designs are faith based; and so you can see it's logical that many Christian women would thus regard the tattoo artist profession positively also, right?
