Work is a good thing created by God for our welfare. Work isn't always pleasant, but we are doing a good thing in bringing order out of chaos and providing for our needs. The Bible does teach that the time may come to slow down as our ability and strength fade, but even then we are to keep making a contribution. Perpetual relaxation and desiring a life of no work and all play do not describe a biblical model. As the apostle Paul points out, "We hear that some among you are idle. They are not busy; they are busybodies. Such people we command and urge in the Lord Jesus Christ to settle down and earn the bread they eat. And as for you, brothers, never tire of doing what is right" ( 2 Thessalonians 3:11-13). When we think about retirement, we must start with the idea that to work is a good thing.

Who retires?Just a change of occupation from paid work to unpaid work. Some of the busiest people are those who have "retired".
