The Bible specifically says that sin entered the world through Adam (the first Adam) and that sin would be destroyed and mankind restored to righteousness through Jesus (the 2nd Adam) ......and God promised that through the Seed (i.e., descendant) of a woman (Eve) would come one who would crush the head of Satan.
Who did God curse in the Garden? Not Eve, Not Adam.....the serpent, Satan.
So the Lord God said to the serpent: “Because you have done this, you
are cursed more than all cattle, and more than every beast of the field; on your belly you shall go, and you shall eat dust all the days of your life. And I will put enmity between you and the woman, and between your seed and her Seed; He shall bruise your head, and you shall bruise His heel.” (
Genesis 3:14–15)
God punished Adam and Eve but did not curse them....and as God still loved His creation He blessed them commanding them to be fruitful and multiply....
I want to show you this and consider it....
In Genesis 2:15-25
2:15 And the LORD God took the man, and put him into the garden of Eden to dress it and to keep it.
2:16 And the LORD God commanded the man, saying, Of every tree of the garden thou mayest freely eat:
2:17 But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it: for in the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die.
2:18 And the LORD God said, It is not good that the man should be alone; I will make him an help meet for him.
2:19 And out of the ground the LORD God formed every beast of the field, and every fowl of the air; and brought them unto Adam to see what he would call them: and whatsoever Adam called every living creature, that was the name thereof.
2:20 And Adam gave names to all cattle, and to the fowl of the air, and to every beast of the field; but for Adam there was not found an help meet for him.
2:21 And the LORD God caused a deep sleep to fall upon Adam, and he slept: and he took one of his ribs, and closed up the flesh instead thereof;
2:22 And the rib, which the LORD God had taken from man, made he a woman, and brought her unto the man.
2:23 And Adam said, This is now bone of my bones, and flesh of my flesh: she shall be called Woman, because she was taken out of Man.
2:24 Therefore shall a man leave his father and his mother, and shall cleave unto his wife: and they shall be one flesh.
2:25 And they were both naked, the man and his wife, and were not ashamed.
IMHO:
1. The responsibility to tend and keep the garden was Adam's.....Adam was the one who allowed the serpent in the garden. (unknowingly, perhaps but nevertheless it was his job to keep it)...it was his job to ensure that nothing entered the garden that could harm it.....
Keep means to guard, preserve, be faithful to, and maintain.
2. God gave Adam the commandment to not eat of the tree.....according to this chapter and timeline Eve wasn't yet created in the flesh.
It does not say whether God also commanded Eve....so Adam must have been the one to teach her this commandment....
In chapter 3:1 1 Now the serpent was more crafty than any other beast of the field that the Lord God had made.
How and when did the serpent get into the garden? It is expressed that when Satan was cast down to earth is when he sought out to destroy Adam and Eve from the start and his opportunity lied in the Garden of Eden.....Satan manifested himself through the serpent.
