Part 1- The 2300 days
The point of this study is to examine the prophetic time frame of the 2300 days in Daniel 8:13-14 and the 1290 days in Daniel 12:11. In so doing, it will show when and how that time period took place historically, of which stems from the chronological outline of the events involving the "little horn" Antiochus Epiphanes lV (AE-4).
It was he who raged against israel, as prophesied in Daniel chapters 8, 11 and 12, and shown to be fulfilled by the historical account, as recorded in the book of 1 Maccabees.
.
In Daniel 8:19, there is a terrible misunderstanding of when "the end" shall be. Many assume that "the end" being spoken of there, by Gabriel, is for the future, as being beyond our year of 2019, when in reality, it is speaking to " the last end of the indignation", that was to take place against Israel.
.
The vision is specifically "appointed" for the end of the indignation against Israel, and NOT the end of "time" itself.
Please discern and digest that.
Dan. 8
[ 19 ] And he said, Behold, I will make thee know what shall be in the last end of the indignation: for at the time appointed the end shall be.
Q. The end of what, shall the end be?
A. The end of the last end of the indignation against Israel.
Q. What was appointed?
A. The time of the 2300 days.
.
The focus is on the event of the taking away of the daily sacrifice and when the AoD is set up.
That time is found to be of the 1290 day prophecy, which is within the prophecy of the 2300 days.
(2300-1290=1010 days) or 6.38-3.58=2.8 years.
.
So then, apart from the 1290, there are 1010 days (2.8) years of activity, that are not involved with the taking away of the daily sacrifice and the AoD committed by AE-4.
.
Some details to remember:
1. The 2300 day prophecy equals to (6.38 years)
2. The 1290 day prophecy equals to (3.58 years), aka "a time, times and a half time", and is within the 2300 day prophecy, and not separate of it.
3. The blessing that was to be received by them, who wait and come to the 1335 days, is an additional 45 more days to the 1290 (1335), which is also inclusive of the 2300 days.
4. The 1290 is only about the time span of the event, concerning when the daily sacrifice was taken away, and when the AoD be set up.
5. An "host" is a literal army of men, and not anything of the angelic realm. No mortal man is able to cast angels to the ground and trample (kill) them.
6. Casleu is the 9th month of the Jewish calendar (our Nov.-Dec.)
.
Now, in order to establish the 1290 day prophecy, we must fully understand the 2300 day prophecy, because the 1290 prophecy nests succinctly within it, and is not separate from it
.
The 2300 day prophecy:
Dan. 8

[ 8 ] Therefore the he goat (Alex the Great) waxed very great: and when he was strong, the great horn was broken; and for it came up four notable ones toward the four winds of heaven.
[ 9 ] And out of one of them (four horns) came forth a little horn (Antiochus Epiphanes lV), which waxed (desired to) exceeding (be beyond) great, toward the south, and toward the east, and toward the pleasant land (Israel).
[ 10 ] And it (the little horn-AE-4) waxed great, even to the host of heaven (the army of Israel); and it cast down (killed) some of the host (army) and of the stars (co-commanders) to the ground, and stamped upon them.
[ 11 ] Yea, he (AE-4) magnified himself even to the prince of the host (Judas Maccabeus), and by him (AE-4) the daily sacrifice was taken way, and the place of his sanctuary (the Temple) was cast down (desolated).
[ 12 ] And an host (army) was given him against the daily sacrifice by reason of transgression and it cast down the truth (Israel and the Law) to the ground; and it practised, and prospered.
.
[ 13 ] Then I heard one saint speaking, and another saint said unto that certain saint which spake, **How long shall be the vision concerning the daily sacrifice, and the transgression of desolation,
to give both the sanctuary (temple) and the host (army of Israel) to be trodden under foot?
.
[ 14 ] And he said unto me, **[the vision shall be] Unto two thousand and three hundred [2300] days [to give both the sanctuary and the host to be trampled under foot];
THEN shall the sanctuary (temple) be cleansed (restored).

> Iows, the vision itself will be 2300 days long, but within it, shall be established the 1290 prophecy.
.
Since we know that the 2300 days end when the sanctuary/temple shall be restored, can we know when the 2300 days began?
Yes! When both the host and the sanctuary begin to be trodden under foot by AE-4
.
Dan. 8 [ 22 ] Now that being broken (Alex TG), whereas four stood up for it, four kingdoms shall stand up out of the nation (Greece), but not in his power.
[ 23 ] And in the latter time of their kingdom (the 3rd Beast), when the transgressors are come to the full, a king of fierce countenance, and understanding dark sentences, shall stand up (AE-4).
[ 24 ] And his power shall be mighty, but not by his own power: and he shall destroy wonderfully, and shall prosper, and practise, and shall destroy the mighty and the holy people (Israel).
[ 25 ] And through his policy also he shall cause craft to prosper in his hand; and he shall magnify himself in his heart, and by peace shall destroy many: he shall also stand up against the Prince of princes (Judas Maccabeus); but he (AE-4) shall be broken (die) without hand (human intervention).
AE-4 died in the year 169
.
[ 26 ] And the vision of the evening (end) and the morning (beginning) which was told, is true:
wherefore shut thou up the vision; for it shall be for many days (to when AE-4 comes to power).
.
Establishing when AE-4 began his "trampling":
> The
beginning (morning) of the 2300 days is
When the "host of Heaven" (army of Israel) and the sanctuary are first trodden under foot in the year of 143 BC., by AE-4

Establishing when Judas Maccabeus restored the Temple:
The end (evening)
of the 2300 day prophecy,
Is when the sanctuary was restored in the 9th month of the 148th year. (6.38 years)

Part Two- The 1290 Day Prophecy

The Historical Background:
If one has a good grasp of the history of the ancient world, from the Medio-Persian Empire (2nd Beast), they can historically predict the 3rd Beast, being that of Alexander the Great in the Grecian Empire. It is from that point on, the Books of 1 and 2 Maccabees begin, being written by a Jewish author.
It is from the history of those books that tell the fulfillment of Daniel's visions of the 2300 days and the 1290 days, in dealing with a horrific ruler named Antiochus Epiphanes lV (AE-4).
To this day, the Jews still celebrate it as Hanukkah.

.
What this study will do, is show the actual time line and events of the 1290 days, within the 2300 days, by comparing the prophecy and context of Daniel 12, with the historical Jewish account of 1 Maccabees.
First, I shall quote the whole of Daniel 12, but only comment to that which is of the 1290 days.
So for now, I am only establishing the outlines of the two prophecies.
As for that, which is historically fleshed out and fulfilled in the 1290, I will show that from Maccabees, later in the study.
.
A necessary reminder here, is to stay focussed on only the time when the daily sacrifice is taken away, and when the AoD is set up. They are two separate events, at different times.
Do not be side tracked by the peripheral language of those topics that are of other interests, that pop up in the scriptures quoted.
.
Dan. 12
[ 5 ] Then I Daniel looked, and, behold, there stood other two, the one on this side of the bank of the river, and the other on that side of the bank of the river.
[ 6 ] And one said to the man clothed in linen, which was upon the waters of the river,
How long shall it be to the end of these wonders?
> The answer is: See Dan. 12:7 and 11.
[ 7 ] And I heard the man clothed in linen, which was upon the waters of the river, when he held up his right hand and his left hand unto heaven, and sware by him that liveth for ever that it shall be for a time, times, and an half;
and when he (AE-4) shall have accomplished to scatter the power of the holy people (Israel), all these things shall be finished.
.
Q. "how long shall it be to the end of these wonders?
A. "a time (1) + times (2) + a half time (.5)" = 3.58 years. (1290 ÷ 360 days)

Q. Who is the "he" being spoken of?
A. The little horn, Antiochus Epiphanes lV.

Q. Who are the holy people?
A. The people of Israel
.
[ 11 ] And from the time that the daily sacrifice shall be taken away
and the abomination that maketh desolate set up,
there shall be a thousand two hundred and ninety days [1290 days÷360, or 3.58 years].

> We are to take note of when the daily sacrifice is taken away, and when the AoD is set up.
The 1290 days
(3.58 years, aka "a time, times and a half time")
shall come to pass within the 2300 days, aka 6.38 years)

Part 3- The 2300 Days in 1 Maccabees
2300 days is for the whole vision.
1290 days is for AE-4, and upto to the day of restoration of the Temple by Judas Maccabeus.
.
The Math is: 2300-1290= 1010÷360= 2.8
The 2.8 years does
not pertain to the taking away of the daily sacrifice and the setting up of the AoD, but rather is applied to the battle of Mattathias and Judas Maccabeus, with the Heavenly host (army) of Israel, against AE-4. See 1 Maccabees- chapters 3 and 4.
.
Therefore, the 1290 days (3.58 years) is proved to be the taking away of the daily sacrifice and setting up the AoD. But the 2.8 years of time remaining (3.58+2.8= 6.38), is the the total years of the vision, of the 2300 days, whereby Mattathias and then later his son Judas, stand up and fight against AE-4.

.
The Taking Away of the Daily Sacrifice:
1 Maccabees 1 [ 20 ] And after that Antiochus had smitten Egypt, he returned again in the hundred forty and third (143) year, and went up against Israel and Jerusalem with a great multitude,
[ 21 ] And entered proudly into the sanctuary, and took away the golden altar, and the candlestick of light, and all the vessels thereof,
[ 22 ] And the table of the shewbread, and the pouring vessels, and the vials. and the censers of gold, and the veil, and the crown, and the golden ornaments that were before the temple, all which he pulled off.
[ 23 ] He took also the silver and the gold, and the precious vessels: also he took the hidden treasures which he found.
[ 24 ] And when he had taken all away, he went into his own land, having made a great massacre, and spoken very proudly.
.
The Set Up of the AoD:
1 Maccabees 1 [ 54 ] Now the fifteenth day of the (9th) month Casleu (our Nov./Dec.) in the hundred forty and fifth (145) year, they set up the abomination of desolation upon the altar, and builded idol altars throughout the cities of Juda on every side;
That completes the 1290 days within the 2300 days.
2300-1290= 1010 or 2.80 years remain, of which is the trampling upon the sanctuary and the Host of Heaven, being continued by AE-4.
Q. When was the daily sacrifice taken away?
A. In the 9th month (Nov.-Dec.) of the year 143, but then two full years later, they set up the AoD.

Q. When did they "set up" the AoD?
A. On the 15th of the month Casleu (our Nov.-Dec.), in the 145th year.
.
Counting 143 as a full year (a time) then successivley 2 full years (two times) to the year 145, a partial year (a half time), totals to
3.58 yrs., and he continued 2.8 more years trampling, both the host and the sanctuary underfoot, upto the temple restoration in the 148 th year, under Judas Maccabeus, equaling to 6.38 years/2300 days.
.
The "prince of princes", Judas called Maccabeus, cleansed/restored the temple.
1 Mac. 4 [ 52 ] Now on the five and twentieth (25) day of the ninth (9) month (Casleu), (Nov.-Dec.), in the hundred forty and eighth (148) year, they rose up betimes in the morning,
[ 53 ] And offered sacrifice according to the law upon the new altar of burnt offerings, which they had made.
.
Schedule of the 1290 events in years:
143
- Antiochus Epiphanes-4 begins to trample the sanctuary and "the host of Heaven"- the army of Israel. 1 year
145
- AE-4 returns to commit the act of the AoD, and then continues to trample the sanctuary and Israel's host (army). 2 years.
146
- Mattathias (1 Maccabees 2:1-4) then raises up armies to fight against AE-4 and his armies for 0 .58 year,
but then dies in the year of 146
. 1 Mac. 2:70
A total of 3.58 years.
.
Judas (called Maccabeus)
, then takes up his father's place and continues the battle against AE-4 upto the restoration of the Temple.

148- Judas Mac. restores the Temple.
(1 month and 15 days (45 days) after the
the 1290, which brings the 2300 day prophecy to completion of 6.38 years.
.

1290 prophecy (3.5) years:
From 143 to 145.5 = 3.58 years
Iows, 1yr + 2 years + 0.5 year. = 3.5 Year's
Aka.- " a time, two times and a half time".
.
1335 days (1290+45): Temple restoration by Judas Maccabeus.
2300 Prophecy : (6.38 years)
143 to 148 = 6.38 years.
.

2B Cont'd Part 4-
1. How Jesus uses the fulfilled prophecy of the 1290 days as the type to Himself, as being THE anti-type.
2. Who the Blessing is 45 days later (1335 days).

The AoD In Daniel Was Fulfilled
That is not correct and indeed IMPOSSIBLE . It is a prophecy for the future for the simple reason that Judas Maccabeus was active around 160 BC and Christ prophesied of the Abomination of Desolation as a future event in AD 30.

Of course you would see it as still future, because you don't understand the 70 weeks.

Apparently Jesus doesnt understand the 70 weeks because Jesus said it is still future.
He most surely did know!! It was going to happen in the future of the 3 brief years of his ministry!
Do you think you can wrap your head around that?
You could, if you would Pat attention to what Isaiah 55:8-9 means.
Clue: the AoD was prophesied in Daniel, and was historically proven to have come to pass by Antiochus Epiphanes of the Seleucid Empire (the latter time of the Grecian Empire-3rd Beast.
Fact: Prophecy that is fulfilled, cannot be fulfilled again, but can be used in the concept of "type/anti-type". That is HOW Jesus used it and meant it.
Understand what jesus was saying in John 2
[19] Jesus answered and said unto them, Destroy this temple, and in three days I will raise it up.
[20] Then said the Jews, Forty and six years was this temple in building, and wilt thou rear it up in three days?
[21] But he spake of the temple of his body.

So you believe the great tribulation which Jesus said would take place when the abomination of desolation is placed took place on what date?
According to Jesus that day would be great tribulation unlije there has ever been or ever shall be again.Daniel said the resurection would take place at that time.

So exactly what date are you saying the abomination of desolation ,the great tribulation, and the resurection of the dead took place?

Still waiting for the date of the abomination of desolation, great tribulation, and resurection.

If this date was in the past,it should be easy to publish.

Don't hold your breath.

I would think if the great tribulation Jesus spoke of took place and the dead rose up out of the ground as Daniel stated ,someone would have written about it.
After all, if someone wrote a pig got killed surely they would have written about the dead coming back to life.

Unless i pig being killed was nothing more than a pig being killed. Then i guess there wasnt nothing more to write about and no one would be able to tell me the date of the abomination of desolation, the great tribulation and the resurection of the dead.

Your right,I wont hold my breath.

Yes! It is easy to publish, but very hard for most to digest, by the mind of their "natural man".
Clue: Isaiah 55:8-9.
.
1. The date of the AoD was 33AD
2. The date for "great tribulation" has been going on since Jesus Ascended.
3. The date for the 1st Resurrection began on 33 AD, and everyone else, since Pentecost (45 days later), who is of faith in Jesus, "hath part", and is "a partaker of the (His) divine nature (His Resurrection)".

Sounds like you dont believe much of whats written in the bible.

So you believe all this took place in 33 AD?
Matthew 24:15 So when you see standing in the holy place 'the abomination of desolation,' described by the prophet Daniel (let the reader understand),
Matthew 24:16 then let those who are in Judea flee to the mountains.
Matthew 24:17 Let no one on the housetop come down to retrieve anything from his house.
Matthew 24:18 And let no one in the field return for his cloak.
Matthew 24:19 How miserable those days will be for pregnant and nursing mothers!
Matthew 24:20 Pray that your flight will not occur in the winter or on the Sabbath.
Matthew 24:21 For at that time there will be great tribulation, unmatched from the beginning of the world until now, and never to be seen again.
Matthew 24:22 If those days had not been cut short, nobody would be saved. But for the sake of the elect, those days will be shortened.

Since you believe this took place in 33 AD,can you explain why none of the apostles nor anyone else has ever said any of this took place?

One must remember that the AoD was prophesied to take place within the 1290 days (Daniel).
That event was fulfilled by the actions of Antiochus Epiphanes lV, King of the Seleucid Empire, and recorded in 1 Maccabees 1:54.
.
Once a prophecy is fulfilled, it can never be fulfilled again, but it can be used as a type, to that which is the anti-type. Jesus applied the AoD to Himself in the concept of type/anti-type.
Iows, what took place then against the temple of Israel, was the shadow of what was to happen to Jesus. The "temple" of His body was "destroyed", and in three days he "restored" it to New Life.
The disciples understood the event of the destruction and the restoration of the temple, as told in Daniel, regarding the 1290 days.
.
Jesus spoke of it concerning Himself, and then later after His Resurrection, the disciples really understood the truth of it.
KJV- John 2:19-22; Mark 14:58

Enoch111, I tend to follow the NEAR and FAR fulfillment of the prophesies of Daniel, and many others. And while early fulfillment took place with Antiochus, that is just a foreshadow or preview of the future fulfillment. It just occurred to me, the similarity of the names Anti-ochus, and Anti-Christ! <giggle>
