If God is going to protect the good guys from the bad guys, does that mean the bad guys have to suffer sometimes?

That is so open-ended it is hard to comment. The obvious answer is yes--when the wicked abuse the righteous, they may get away with it for awhile. But in the end God has said that He is not mocked--a person reaps what he sows. He may be put to death, or he may be chastised.

Open ended? I agree the answer is obvious, but some people seem to object to the idea that anyone should suffer for anything.

The 'bad guys' bring on their own suffering......but, it's a suffering quite different to that of the 'good guys'
