Some critics see theonomy as a significant form of Dominion theology, which they define as a type of theocracy. Theonomy posits that the Biblical Law is applicable to civil law, and theonomists propose Biblical law as the standard by which the laws of nations may be measured, and to which they ought to be conformed.

Willie mentioned this term and i’d never heard it before. How is it different from Theocracy?

Very little difference.
"Theocracy" = The rule of God
"Theonomy" = The law of God

Not sure how you separate the two, and definitions confirm this because they are nearly identical.

This thread looks like it is going to be a bit 'heady' and intellectual for me.
I have no idea what it all is all about. o_O

The subject really isn't. Many of us swear we live by the 10 Commandments. This is only taking in more than just 10 laws that God gave. (Most of us already "add in" selected things we find all through the book.)

Theocracy means that God is King and Ruler over a nation. Israel was chosen to be a theocracy, but since they clamored for a human king, they got Saul, who turned out to be a disaster. And after that Israel went downhill with a few interludes of blessings, split into two kingdoms, until it finally disappeared. What we now see is the secular nation-state of Israel established by Zionists (who were not looking for Messiah), and who were actually opposed by Orthodox Jews.

Theonomy and Dominion Theology go hand in hand. These Christians believe that they must impose the civil and criminal laws taken from the OT upon their nations. Many laws in the Western world do have their roots in the OT and NT, but Dominionists want to establish the Kingdom of God on earth through their own efforts. However, that is NOT the mandate of the Church, since Christ will personally establish His Kingdom after His second coming.

(Nor is it what "Christian Reconstructionists" have intention of doing...…. though that is a popular "throw-around.")

Are you suggesting that Dominionists do not want to establish the Kingdom of God in their own power? If so, that would be incorrect.

"Dominion theology refers to a line of theological interpretation and thought with regard to the role of the church in contemporary society. Dominion theology is also known as Christian reconstructionism and theonomy. Dominion theology states that biblical Christianity will rule all areas of society, personal and corporate. Christian reconstructionism reasons that society will be reconstructed by the Law of God as preached in the gospel and the Great Commission. Theonomy is a post-millennial view believing that all of the moral laws contained in the Old Testament are yet binding today. Although these might sound somewhat disparate, they have all been closely linked together to the point that people often use the terms interchangeably....Those who hold these views believe that it is the duty of Christians to create a worldwide kingdom patterned after the Mosaic Law. Oh thank you...I can see I need one of those "books for dummies"...they seem to have one for every subject on earth. :)
