1 Corinthians 6:

3 Do you not know that we will judge angels? How much more the things of this life!
Jamieson-Fausset-Brown explained:

judge angels—namely, bad angels. We who are now "a spectacle to angels" shall then "judge angels." The saints shall join in approving the final sentence of the Judge on them (Jude 6). Believers shall, as administrators of the kingdom under Jesus, put down all rule that is hostile to God. Perhaps, too, good angels shall then receive from the Judge, with the approval of the saints, higher honors.
Jude 1:

6 And the angels who did not keep their positions of authority but abandoned their proper dwelling—these he has kept in darkness, bound with everlasting chains for judgment on the great Day.

1 Corinthians 6:

Jamieson-Fausset-Brown explained:

Jude 1:
Yes, I agree. We should not get fired up and proud as if we are greater than angels. The point is, God made earth our home--not the home of angels. They appear to be "travelers," who should not be welcomed here by us unless they come on a mission from God.

If they come here to deceive us, tempt us, or oppose our own mission from God, our word from God trumps their opposition--we can judge them. This judgment will become clearer when the Kingdom of Christ comes to earth.

Extending the argument farther, as Christians we also judge people on earth. We are responsible to "maintain the garden," ie manage the earth for the Kingdom of God. When people do not live in accordance with the rules of the Kingdom we may judge them. Again, this judgment will become clearer when the Kingdom of Christ comes.

In the meantime, Jesus gave us authority as ministers of the Kingdom of God. We can deliver news that binds the sins of men to judgment, or we can bring Christ's Salvation to those who hear our words. This is tremendous authority and a tremendous responsibility. We have to be careful with our words--they have authority.

It is not always immediately apparent what the impact will be of our words on people when we confront or meet them. However, God said His word does not go forth void--it will accomplish whatever His purpose happens to be. We are constantly planting seeds for a New Earth. It will have an impact in the present age, and will be more fully revealed in the next age.
