Pride is a sin common to all mankind.I thought he was going to say the humble and the proud.
I am not remotely a fan of the JW faith, but I do fine that if a person puts aside their own egotism / preconceptions, I find folks whom truly love Christ & strive to follow Him in those pews. Not everyone-- every set of pews has those whose hearts are far from Him, but they are still there. Same with every other set of pews. And with our egos put aside, we can all truly come closer to Christ. Hence my urging of humility rather than calling names or other such behavior.Oddly the JW displays humility?
False humility is easy, but I will boast in my relationship with my Lord, my God, my Savior, my brother through adoption, and my friend, the LORD, Jesus Christ.Oddly the JW displays humility?
So you're a judge then?I am not remotely a fan of the JW faith, but I do fine that if a person puts aside their own egotism / preconceptions, I find folks whom truly love Christ & strive to follow Him in those pews. You don’t find it odd that Barney repented of his wrong doing?Pride is a sin common to all mankind.
17 But the one who boasts is to boast in the Lord. 18 For it is not the one who commends himself that is approved, but the one whom the Lord commends. 2 Corinthians 10:17-18
These are verses I'm quite comfortable with.
Notice how I'm specifically standing up against such egotism. Christ is the judge. You, I, and everyone else are filthy disgusting sinners. And we are called to be humble & love one another. So you're a judge then?
I’m not a great fan either, but I appreciate Barney’s contribution here as it leads me to a better understanding of their theology.I am not remotely a fan of the JW faith, but I do fine that if a person puts aside their own egotism / preconceptions, I find folks whom truly love Christ & strive to follow Him in those pews. No, because I'm not aware that he did anything wrong. It isn't sin to disagree on doctrine. However, Paul pronounced curses upon those that preached another gospel. You don’t find it odd that Barney repented of his wrong doing?
Speak for yourself. The Lord has pronounced me cleansed by His blood and when I do sin, there is immediate forgiveness at the cross. Don't you know these things?Notice how I'm specifically standing up against such egotism. Christ is the judge. You, I, and everyone else are filthy disgusting sinners. You and I see things VERY differently here.Speak for yourself. The Lord has pronounced me cleansed by His blood and when I do sin, there is immediate forgiveness at the cross. Don't you know these things?
You do know that JW missionaries are instructed not to tell their intended victims that they don't believe in Jesus's divinity or equality with God, right? One inexperienced convert sheepishly acknowledged that in my living room while I disproved their arguments verse by verse. The apostates here no longer try to hide their rebellion and unbelief.I’m not a great fan either, but I appreciate Barney’s contribution here as it leads me to a better understanding of their theology.

Of course, but I'm the Lord's servant and He's given me spiritual gifts. What spiritual gift did He give you when you were born again?
Maybe Ferris can straighten Barney out?You do know that JW missionaries are instructed not to tell their intended victims that they don't believe in Jesus's divinity or equality with God, right? Now I just gave you kudos for humility!!!!!What spiritual gifts have you received and what does being born again mean to you?
Believe the Bible, trust the Lord's sacrifice on your behalf, and your eyes will certainly be fixed. Christ didn't come to condemn sinners, but to save them (and He does every day.)You and I see things VERY differently here.
Thanks brother. We've disagreed more than once, but not on the fundamentals (as far as my failing memory can recall.)"that is what some of you were. But you were washed, you were sanctified, you were justified, in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and by the Spirit of our God." 1 Corinthians 6:11
Christ saves wretched sinners. Such is not a license to sin or be egotistical. Rather we are called to be humble and love each other. I urge that.Believe the Bible, trust the Lord's sacrifice on your behalf, and your eyes will certainly be fixed. Christ didn't come to condemn sinners, but to save them (and He does every day.)
The long-suffering of our Lord is salvation. Who exactly do you think He's long-suffering toward?
20 For the creation was subjected to futility, not willingly, but because of Him who subjected it in hope; 21 because the creation itself also will be delivered from the bondage of corruption into the glorious liberty of the children of God. Romans 8:20-21
What do you mean? I just asked a question. Now I just gave you kudos for humility!!!!!
