No absolutely there were giants.
But the sons of God were not giants.
The Nephilim were a separate race, that existed before and after the event of the sons of God impregnating human women.
Not hardly. Nephilim is not a proper name.
The proper name is found once in Numbers 13:33
"And there we saw the giants, the sons of Anak, which come of the giants: and we were in our own sight as grasshoppers, and so we were in their sight."
Anak would be the proper name of an ethnicity who were giants.
They would have been some genetic result passed down from one of Noah's sons and a wife. Their originator being Anak. The word Nephilim does not mean a separate race of created beings. All races today, and since the Flood came from those on the ark with Noah. Noah himself could have been a 9 foot "giant". He did construct an ark by hand, that would rival any ocean going vessel of today. While that is my opinion, the word is not a race of people, when Anak would be the proper name of a race. They would not have had 2 proper names, only one, Anak.
No one knows the size of those created on the 6th Day. They definitely were not like humans today born in Adamic flesh.
If you claim God did not destroy all flesh in the Flood, we will never come to an agreement. You would be refuting this verse: Genesis 6:17
"And, behold, I, even I, do bring a flood of waters upon the earth,
to destroy all flesh, wherein is the breath of life, from under heaven; and
every thing that is in the earth shall die."
It would be a greater miracle to destroy all living by "splashing" water on them, than to completely cover the whole earth with water. But they were all still dead.
There is not a single indication in Scripture that the sons of God were
not giants compared to Adam's dead flesh. There was only one group of created sons of God:
"And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth. So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them. And God blessed them, and God said unto them, Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth, and subdue it: and have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over every living thing that moveth upon the earth."
When Adam disobeyed, Adam and Eve were no longer sons of God.
Noah a direct descendant of Adam and his 3 sons, were the only humans after the Flood.
"These are the families of the sons of Noah, after their generations, in their nations: and by these were the nations divided in the earth after the flood."
Races did not happen until the tower of Babel.
"Go to, let us go down, and there confound their language, that they may not understand one another's speech. So the Lord
scattered them abroad from thence upon the face of all the earth: and they left off to build the city. Therefore is the name of it called Babel; because the Lord did there confound the language of all the earth: and from thence did the Lord scatter them abroad upon the face of all the earth."
When they could no longer communicate, they were forced to "inbreed", which led to races. There was no longer a homogeneous mixture.
