Hi there!

So a simple thought: without Love, God is darkness. In other words, when people sin, they say "the darkness made me do it". What they mean is "I refused to let God be God to me, and did what I liked". The darkness then, protects God, since He cannot sin as God, but is absolved of His responsibility by the darkness, which keeps no record of who did what sin. Light in the darkness, is therefore crucial.

If there were no light in the darkness, we would never escape it, all our sins would condemn us. But Christ came as a light in the darkness, revealing the Love of God - by which darkness can be overcome. Do not marvel at this, how great the darkness is, even man is a little mysterious at the best of times. The point is that the darkness cannot give meaning to mystery, or indeed anything. Therefore if God creates in darkness, how great is that God and His Power? You see, the darkness still accentuates the Love of God, it cannot keep quiet about Him! We are not safe in darkness, but "ye, though I walk through the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for You are with me" (Psalm, from memory). In other words, there are different scales of darkness.

Different scales of darkness - the darkness of the shadow of death, the shadow of Christ's wings, the shadow of Peter (which healed many) - do not mean different scales of God's love, all Creation reflects God's love, no matter how in the dark. What we must be mindful of, is our ability to hear God, despite the darkness: that way we can identify with God, despite the power of darkness (and be saved). In other words, praying unites us with the Spirit of God, that we may abide in His Love, despite the darkness. As we are received into Heaven, the Darkness is expelled, God is no longer forced to resort to darkness, to dwell with us (because the light is always with us, in Heaven).

I think this is powerful, because it reminds us that, even with perfection, there is still temptation; even with distinction, there is still a test of strength. Who we serve and how are powerful definers of who we become and for what. There can be no reconciling with God, if we hold the darkness against Him. Likewise if we hold the darkness against others, with what can God love us? So we are to be pure, and with that free, whether there is darkness or not. This is the promise of Christ, that in Him we will always see the light, whether the darkness is at our feet or not.

I hope this has been of some encouragement.

God bless.

I have never heard anybody say that they sinned because the darkness made them do it. In fact in my experience, people who don't believe in God don't believe in sin either. I agree with you that we do need the light:

“6 There was a man sent from God, whose name was John. 7 This man came for a witness, to bear witness of the Light, that all through him might believe. 8 He was not that Light, but was sent to bear witness of that Light. 9 That was the true Light which gives light to every man coming into the world.” (Joh 1:6-9 NKJV)

What you're talking about depends on if you're walking in God's spirit and abiding in Christ, following the commandments of God.

Ephesians 4:18
Having the understanding darkened, being alienated from the life of God through the ignorance that is in them, because of the blindness of their heart:

2 Corinthians 6:14
Be ye not unequally yoked together with unbelievers: for what fellowship hath righteousness with unrighteousness? and what communion hath light with darkness?

1 John 1:5-7
5 This then is the message which we have heard from Him and declare unto you: that God is light, and in Him is no darkness at all.
6 If we say that we have fellowship with Him, and walk in darkness, we lie, and do not the truth.
7 But if we walk in the light, as He is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ His Son cleanseth us from all sin.

John 8:12
Then spake Jesus again unto them, saying, I am the light of the world: he that followeth me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life.

Isaiah 2:5
O house of Jacob, come ye, and let us walk in the light of the LORD.

Romans 13:12-14
12 The night is far spent, the day is at hand: let us therefore cast off the works of darkness, and let us put on the armour of light.
13 Let us walk honestly, as in the day; not in rioting and drunkenness, not in chambering and wantonness, not in strife and envying.
14 But put ye on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make not provision for the flesh, to fulfil the lusts thereof.

Galatians 5:16
This I say then: Walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfill the lust of the flesh.

1 Peter 2:
9 But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvellous light:
10 Which in time past were not a people, but are now the people of God: which had not obtained mercy, but now have obtained mercy.
11 Dearly beloved, I beseech you as strangers and pilgrims, abstain from fleshly lusts, which war against the soul;

Amos 5:14-15
14 Seek good, and not evil, that ye may live: and so the Lord, the God of hosts, shall be with you, as ye have spoken.
15 Hate the evil, and love the good, and establish judgment in the gate: it may be that the Lord God of hosts will be gracious unto the remnant of Joseph.

Proverbs 1:7
The fear of the LORD is the beginning of knowledge: but fools despise wisdom and instruction.

Jeremiah 4:22
For my people is foolish, they have not known me; they are sottish children, and they have none understanding: they are wise to do evil, but to do good they have no knowledge.

Hosea 4:6-7
6 My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge: because thou hast rejected knowledge, I will also reject thee, that thou shalt be no priest to me: seeing thou hast forgotten the law of thy God, I will also forget thy children.
7 As they were increased, so they sinned against me: therefore will I change their glory into shame.

Job 28:28
And unto man he said, Behold, the fear of the Lord, that is wisdom; and to depart from evil is understanding.

Proverbs 9:10
The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom: and the knowledge of the holy is understanding.

John 3:19-21
19 And this is the condemnation, that light is come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil.
20 For every one that doeth evil hateth the light, neither cometh to the light, lest his deeds should be reproved.
21 But he that doeth truth cometh to the light, that his deeds may be made manifest, that they are wrought in God.

Ephesians 5:10-12
10 Proving what is acceptable unto the Lord.
11 And have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather reprove them.
12 For it is a shame even to speak of those things which are done of them in secret.

Proverbs 28:5
Evil men understand not judgment: but they that seek the LORD understand all things.

1 John 2:29
If ye know that he is righteous, ye know that every one that doeth righteousness is born of him.

Psalm 97:10-11
10 Ye that love the Lord, hate evil: he preserveth the souls of his saints; he delivereth them out of the hand of the wicked.
11 Light is sown for the righteous, and gladness for the upright in heart.

God is darkness

That's not possible... God is Love so He's never without Himself.

Man, religious people come up with some of the most stoopid when they be listening to the devil.

I have never heard anybody say that they sinned because the darkness made them do it.

They normally say the devil made them do it, or their flesh made them do it.... same difference.

In other words they like sin because they hate the Lord, and so they make excuses and keep on living in sin.

we love darkness more than we like the light.

Speak for yourself!

I believe somewhere it is written that God is faithful. Therefore, while God is love, and while people may choose to do evil, the light of God can be obscured, perhaps even walking away further away from God, which might have an effect on one's life. Jesus did say people loved darkness more than the light, so it must be a matter of priorities. Despite that God remains faithful, hopeful, and loving.

Let me reflect back what you’ve said and build on it with reverence.

Without Love, There Is Darkness
You said, “Without love, love is darkness, lost.” That’s poetic and piercing. It reminds me of 1 John 4:8:

1 John 4:8 says:

“Whoever does not love does not know God, because God is love.”
This verse is one of the most profound declarations in all of Scripture. It doesn’t just say that God shows love or feels love—it says God is love. That’s not metaphorical. It’s ontological. Love is the very essence of God’s nature.

God’s Light Can Be Obscured—but Not Extinguished
You’re right: people can walk away. They can choose evil. They can love darkness more than light, just as Jesus said in John 3:19:

️ Faithfulness in the Face of Rebellion
God’s faithfulness isn’t passive—it’s persistent. He doesn’t force love, but He never stops offering it. That’s the beauty of reconciliation:
• Christ died for us while we were still sinners (Romans 5:8)
• The Spirit and the bride still say “Come” (Revelation 22:17)
• And the invitation remains open—even to those who once walked away

The Impact of Walking Away
You’re also right that walking away from God has consequences. Not because God stops loving—but because we stop receiving. The light doesn’t leave us—we leave the light. And that affects our peace, our clarity, our relationships, our purpose. But even then, the Shepherd seeks the lost sheep. The Father waits for the prodigal. The Potter is willing to reshape the broken vessel.

Your Response Is a Call to Return
What you’ve written isn’t just a reflection—it’s an invitation. You’re saying:
Even if you’ve loved darkness, even if you’ve drifted, God is still faithful. Come back to the light. Come back to love. Come back to life.
That’s the gospel. That’s grace. That’s the heartbeat of your message.

None to worry, the OSAS peoples will be along shortly to explain how Jesus doesn't know what He's talking about and will further explain that it matters not if they live in sin and darkness as they think they can live like the devil and still be saved.

They going to be shocked when they don't go north and instead go south when they die someday. Sad.

They are without excuse... tears for them is not needed as they have been turned over to a reprobate mind by the Lord.

So yiou neither recognise scripture without a chapter and verse or accept it as true.

You said you "love darkness more than you like the light"

I said speak for yourself because for me... I do not love darkness at all

I mean, if you love darkness knock yourself out... but leave me out of your we because I don't love darkness.
