Hi there!

So this is just an exercise in commitment. Your life is going to end. You can try to end it, yourself. Or you can end it, in the Holy Spirit. The typical life to aim for is the good life - three score years and ten (70 years). At some point, even if you don't get the good life, your life is going to end. Now, you can fret and worry and be anxious, about what you are going to do when you reach the end: or you can commit that moment, and your response, to the Holy Spirit. If the Holy Spirit is in control, then you will have peace, understanding and grace.

Peace, because your sin will reach its final resting place; understanding, because the scriptures will be known to you; grace, because the power of God will come upon you. These things are godly, but they are so very close to impossible, for someone who does not trust the Holy Spirit, with the end that they have got (that they have been given by God). This is the same dilemma as the case of the ten lepers who were healed of leprosy, and only one returned to give Glory to God, for the miraculous healing - if we try to end our lives in our own strength, God is disappointed that we didn't at least pray that the Holy Spirit have some kind of influence over it. The Holy Spirit is the perfect person, He knew how to face the end.

So what is it, that the Holy Spirit does, when we say "Holy Spirit, have your way with the end of my life, in Jesus Name Amen"? The answer is still a mystery, but at that, it is an impervious mystery. It is a mystery that can never disappoint us, or lead us astray or weary us. This is what the Bible was talking about (in Isaiah, from memory) when it said "they shall run and not grow weary, walk and not grow faint", the Holy Spirit at the end of our lives, will give us stamina and great talent. This is what the Father longs that we would pray for, that we would come to a reckoning with the Devil, that would banish him from the Courts of Praise that belong to the Father. If we simply pray that the end, be His, then the Holy Spirit will enter us permanently and guide us thoroughly. This is joy!

It's not about navel gazing, it's about trusting Jesus, what He said, not just for now, but for the rest of the way to the end. I hope you have been encouraged by these words.

God bless.
