@lightlysalted Hi, Ziggy:

I would be supportive of the profession.

I know some ppl try to claim that tattoos are supposedly not lady-like.

Cachalot said:
Tattoos are unlady-like. That is why I would never have one.

But the plain historical facts contradict this:

one of the major resurgences of interest in tattoos in Europe occurred among 19th century high society Victorian women (as well as men), after British explorers .. brought back the practice to Britain. .. grew during the 19th century, and even Winston Churchill’s mother had a tattoo .. on her wrist. Queen Victoria was also believed to have had a tattoo of a Bengal tiger.. . From Victorian Europe...to America. In 1897, (art critic, Margot) Miffin says that an estimated 75% of American society women were tattooed.."
(Black Fire: Women, Tattoos, and the Transformative Power of Body Art )

So your support for the profession - indeed presumably for both genders - is simply the logical consequence of the attested historical evidence about the receiving of tattoos.

I haven't got any tattoos because it never crossed my mind to have any, and I voted "dunno" because I don't take tatts seriously one way or the other because they're just harmless pictures, so if people want to make themselves look like comic books I couldn't care less..:)

@Michiah-Imla Thanks for your 'like'; yes, the quote about the lady who works as a tattoo artist shows rather clearly that the profession can be seen in terms of the demand for tattooing services but also from the perspective of the circumstances of those who for their reasons may be motivated to take up the profession.

Sometimes it's easy for ppl to stereotype the supposed 'sort of person' who becomes a tattoo artist.

But in fact as the quote shows, the driving aspect may also be that at a time when other work may be relatively scarce, the sheer demand for ink might point to a direction for which a person can hone his or her skills.

So I don't buy the idea of, It's only a certain 'sort of person' who becomes a tattoo artist.

PS: @Michiah-Imla ; that quote again:

Paula Castle took up tattooing after being made redundant from a sales job ..."I really did not want to do it. ...But I’m a bit of an all or nothing person so I said ‘yes’ and really pushed myself and I’ve not stopped...About 97% of my clients are female and that is universal across the board."

.....she has some self esteem issues and doesn’t think of herself of a good artist. But she is good. She has natural talent. I am not sure how to encourage her.
@Mantis For example, would any tattoo artist be willing to have her work free of charge for a couple of days doing odd jobs to see if this might motivate her eventually to develop her talent?

Well I’m sure if she was interested she would be pursuing it. That is how most new tattoo artist apprentice, by giving free tattoos as practice.

@Heart2Soul Thanks for the 'like'; yes, for those who would want to use a tattoo artist, those quotes from GodsGrace, Rita and Heavenhome likely seem rather compelling, don't they?

(Did you also see the poll, above?)

I think that, while some ppl might still hesitate about the tattoo artist profession, they might be overlooking the sheer joy aspect of seeking and receiving the experience of becoming inked with Scripture, as Acolyte has identified in her post:

Acolyte said:
My son had 7 or 8 tattoos before I even thought about it. ... Those who get scripture must be overjoyed. The money and pain are outweighed by the message they witness to... No more ink for me. ... I do think they are fine for whoever wants one.

Clearly it can be done rather wholesomely.

(And it can make for an effective witness talking point tool.)

Thanks also for your poll participation.

@michaelvpardo FYI..........did you see the recent poll, above?
I might have but it's irrelevant to me. I have no children.
Some people try to protect their children from criminal prosecution out of filial love, but that doesn't make a criminal less guilty of a crime. What's the point of the poll?
Truth and righteousness aren't defined by consensus.

Yes, I would--just as I would support my daughter or son if they worked making Ketchup. :D

But I still wouldn't put it on steak. ;)

Those are very nice. Most definitely a great opportunity for a witness engagement.

@dhh712 Yes, and while some Christians might not like tattoos, others Christians will definitely respond to such faith designs pictured, 'Ohh niiice...'

Sometimes also it's the joy of having it done that impresses; in her post, Acolyte said:

Its element of discomfort or pain can also be delivered in a gentle way; this is a quote from Ryan Ashley, distinguished tattoo artist:

I'm very light-handed; I'm a lady tattooer and I tattoo like a lady
(Source: Best of Ryan Ashley, Ink Master, Season 8, Youtube.)

What with the pictures you liked, above, and these comments from this lady tattoo artist, it really is hard to buy that having it done is supposedly not lady-like, (whether or not tattoos are actually chosen to be received or not).

No, thank you for directing me to it. I have no issues with tattoos, just don't care for them myself but to each their own (in this instance; I see nothing against God's commandments with it. And I do not understand were a Christian to condemn it as morally wrong--would it be due to the Israelite policy of not marking themselves which was done away with by Christ's coming because Israel is no longer a nation but the church--actually as it always was really. Those laws applying to Israel specifically--not the moral laws of course--do not apply to Israel the invisible catholic church.

So, yeah, I don't get it. We don't sow seeds separately and don't wear cloth of one fabric so if you're going to have beef with tattoos then it gets under my skin if you're not logically consistent--I don't mean you personally of course. I guess people who do things with inconsistent logic and then attempt to impose their inconsistent logic on others really bothers me; I don't mind if you're logically inconsistent, just don't hit people over the head with your logical inconsistency!

Oh, 7th Day Adventists adhere to all those laws, so I'm told, so I'm not irritated at them; I personally don't feel they are theologically correct in this, but hey I'm sure some of the doctrines I adhere to aren't theologically correct either--though of course I don't know that, or I wouldn't adhere to them! But they're still my brothers and sisters in Jesus).

But for me I suppose I'm too fickle to pick one picture (in one area) to look at--possibly, or at least know that it's there--for the rest of my life and then to have it deteriorate into wrinkles as I age. But, like I said that's totally just me. It appears other people don't have this problem.

I find a Tee Shirt will show much better if one is looking to start a conversation about The Lord, it doesn't mar the body and is not permanent...but, that's just me...lol.
