Eze 18:1 The word of the LORD came to me:God created man with a body and a spirit or breath of life, to give the body physical life. What God created He said was, "very good." Man had the ability to live forever IF he obeyed God. We all know of Adam's disobedience. God said that on the day man disobeyed God they would DIE! They did not physically die, but they did spiritually die. That's why Paul says "we were DEAD in trespasses and sins." It was man's choice that brought sin and death through sin unto ALL mankind. God does NOT "deliver a dead spirit to the new born." It was the first Adam that brought this fate upon all mankind. For that reason mankind must be born again to have eternal life.
Romans 5:14 (KJV) Nevertheless death reigned from Adam to Moses, even over them that had not sinned after the similitude of Adam's transgression, who is the figure of him that was to come.
1 Corinthians 15:22 (KJV) For as in Adam all die, even so in Christ shall all be made alive.
Eze 18:2 "What do you mean by repeating this proverb concerning the land of Israel, 'The fathers have eaten sour grapes, and the children's teeth are set on edge'?
Eze 18:3 As I live, declares the Lord GOD, this proverb shall no more be used by you in Israel.
Eze 18:4 Behold, all souls are mine; the soul of the father as well as the soul of the son is mine: the soul who sins shall die.
Eze 18:20 The soul who sins shall die. The son shall not suffer for the iniquity of the father, nor the father suffer for the iniquity of the son. The righteousness of the righteous shall be upon himself, and the wickedness of the wicked shall be upon himself.
The doctrine of Original Sin is heresy. We suffer neither physical death nor spiritual death as a result of anything Adam did. Physical death is as God created mankind. Spiritual death is due to our trespasses and sins.
