You condition salvation on something man does, thats works, dont have to be the Law for it to be works
Dear brightframe52,
I completely agree with your statement.

The Doctrine of Free Will is the foundational belief of "works". Mankind does not have a free will ability. All things in this creation are subservient to the will of God the Father.

Jesus declared faith to be work (John 6:29). If it is work, it cannot be a gift. And faith is a condition for receiving salvation. (Mark 16:16; Rom 1:17; 3:24-25; 4:1-8; 4:22-25; etc.)

Again, with the false doctrine of Determinism. Mankind does have free will ability. It was by the sovereign will of God that He instilled mankind with free will. You would deny God the ability to do that. Shame!

Eph.2

[1] And you hath he quickened, who were dead in trespasses and sins;
[2] Wherein in time past ye walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, the spirit that now worketh in the children of disobedience:
[3] Among whom also we all had our conversation in times past in the lusts of our flesh, fulfilling the desires of the flesh and of the mind; and were by nature the children of wrath, even as others.
[4] But God, who is rich in mercy, for his great love wherewith he loved us,
[5] Even when we were dead in sins, hath quickened us together with Christ, (by grace ye are saved;)
[6] And hath raised us up together, and made us sit together in heavenly places in Christ Jesus:
[7] That in the ages to come he might shew the exceeding riches of his grace in his kindness toward us through Christ Jesus.
[8] For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:
[9] Not of works, lest any man should boast.
[10] For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them.
[11] Wherefore remember, that ye being in time past Gentiles in the flesh, who are called Uncircumcision by that which is called the Circumcision in the flesh made by hands;
[12] That at that time ye were without Christ, being aliens from the commonwealth of Israel, and strangers from the covenants of promise, having no hope, and without God in the world:
[13] But now in Christ Jesus ye who sometimes were far off are made nigh by the blood of Christ.
[14] For he is our peace, who hath made both one, and hath broken down the middle wall of partition between us;
[15] Having abolished in his flesh the enmity, even the law of commandments contained in ordinances; for to make in himself of twain one new man, so making peace;
[16] And that he might reconcile both unto God in one body by the cross, having slain the enmity thereby:
[17] And came and preached peace to you which were afar off, and to them that were nigh.
[18] For through him we both have access by one Spirit unto the Father.
[19] Now therefore ye are no more strangers and foreigners, but fellowcitizens with the saints, and of the household of God;
[20] And are built upon the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Jesus Christ himself being the chief corner stone;
[21] In whom all the building fitly framed together groweth unto an holy temple in the Lord:
[22] In whom ye also are builded together for an habitation of God through the Spirit

Gods Spirit gives us faith as we can read in his word below.

You can’t have faith without the Spirit.

1 Corinthians 12

King James Version

12 Now concerning spiritual gifts, brethren, I would not have you ignorant.
2 Ye know that ye were Gentiles, carried away unto these dumb idols, even as ye were led.
3 Wherefore I give you to understand, that no man speaking by the Spirit of God calleth Jesus accursed: and that no man can say that Jesus is the Lord, but by the Holy Ghost.
4 Now there are diversities of gifts, but the same Spirit.
5 And there are differences of administrations, but the same Lord.
6 And there are diversities of operations, but it is the same God which worketh all in all.
7 But the manifestation of the Spirit is given to every man to profit withal.
8 For to one is given by the Spirit the word of wisdom; to another the word of knowledge by the same Spirit;
9 To another faith by the same Spirit; to another the gifts of healing by the same Spirit;
10 To another the working of miracles; to another prophecy; to another discerning of spirits; to another divers kinds of tongues; to another the interpretation of tongues:
11 But all these worketh that one and the selfsame Spirit, dividing to every man severally as he will.

The "it" in "it is a gift of God" in Ephesians 2:8 does not reference faith. Greek grammar will not permit it. Besides, the word "it" is not even in the Greek.

Your KJV has, for Ephesians 2:8, the following: "For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God". The words "it is" is italicized, meaning that it is not in the Greek and was inserted into the translation. The phrase, "and that not of yourselves" is indeed in the Greek. However the Greek word translated as "that" is τουτο [touto] which is in the neuter gender and thus cannot refer to the word "faith" which is in the feminine gender, as is the Greek word for "grace". Thus, by the requirements of the Greek grammar, the gift must refer to the entire phrase, "by grace are ye saved through faith". That clearly indicates that the gift is salvation by grace through faith. That of course is securely in line with the whole rest of the Gospel message.

Your view that faith is a gift is simply wrong! ! !

Those who are “ Born Again “ will know that faith is a gift from God, it’s a manifestation of the Spirit, when we are spiritually regenerated by God he then gives us the Faith to believe, without God given faith, it’s impossible to know God, we must be Born Again to know God, our spirit must be Born Again...that is a supernatural act that only God can do, via his Spirit, he testifies with our spirit that we are Gods children....

There is no faith in God without the Spirit and God giving us the gift of Faith.

The carnal mind could never understand this as it’s void of the Spirit.it just plods along in its own human understanding and intellect..imo.

8 For to one is given by the Spirit the word of wisdom; to another the word of knowledge by the same Spirit;
9 To another faith by the same Spirit; to another the gifts of healing by the same Spirit;
10 To another the working of miracles; to another prophecy; to another discerning of spirits; to another divers kinds of tongues; to another the interpretation of tongues:
11 But all these worketh that one and the selfsame Spirit, dividing to every man severally as he will.
It should be obvious, even to you, that the faith spoken of in that passage is not referring to the saving faith of every believer. Rather it is a special miraculous gift from the Holy Spirit given to only a precious few, just as is the case of all the other special miraculous gifts from the Holy Spirit.

That is nothing short of heresy. God has given us His Written Word through the person and work of the Holy Spirit. It is through that Written Word that we can come to believe and obey the gospel (Rom 10). That you would even think for an instant that God is unable to communicate effectively with the unregenerate sinner is pure heresy. It is the very reason for the Bible.

We cannot understand any of Gods word without becoming regenerated/ Born Again/ Spirit gives birth to spirit/....once God makes us Born Again only then can we start to be led by his Spirit to understand his word....we are his children by his Spirit....our spirit has been Born Again...

As his word says....without his Spirit we are none of his....he does not recognise us ....mans faith is no faith at all.....we know God in our spirit...not in our carnal understanding.....our spirit must be Born Again to know God....that’s a supernatural act that only God can do , if he so chooses...

Without God given Faith there is no understanding his word....I believe Gods word....not manmade mumbo jumbo...

Faith is 100% a gift from God...which can only be testified to our spirit by the witness of the Holy Spirit.

Clearly. it is you spewing out the manmade mumbo jumbo. You simply refuse to understand and believe God's word.

That is correct. However, when Paul declared that we are saved by faith, not works, it is works of law that he spoke about. Clearly he did not refute Christ's own words that faith is a work. We are saved by grace through faith, and faith is a work according to Jesus.

No one can understand and believe the Gospel without the Holy Spirit. This can cause a problem on Christian Forums. The reason is that not everyone on the Forum is a born-again believer. If you have never called on Christ to save you, Romans 10:13, then chances are that you are a lost unbeliever. A Christian is one that is totally and completely dependent upon the saving work of Jesus Christ for their salvation. The Holy Spirit is only given to those that meet this criteria. Paul said, "This only would I learn of you, did you receive the Spirit by the works of the law (what you do) or by the hearing of faith" (hearing and believing the Gospel) Galatians 3:2.

In the Gospel Jesus justifies lost sinners, Romans 3:26 and reconciles them unto God, 2 Corinthians 5:18-19. We did not participate in this. The Gospel is a past historical event. It took place over 2,000 years ago before we were born. Because Jesus did it all and he did it perfectly, we are saved and justified by faith alone, it is by faith alone because it is by Christ alone. The reason that it is by faith alone is because God does not accept the works and the obedience of sinners, which we are all one of. If God accepted us that would make him a sinner also. God only accepts the works and the obedience of Jesus Christ. We are accepted only in him and because of him.

Most religious people are offended by the Gospel because it is not about them, it is about Jesus Christ and what he has done to provide salvation for fallen man, Hebrews 2:9. Jesus is the savior, we are the lost sinners. Jesus saves us by doing for us that which we cannot do for ourselves. Jesus in our name and on our behalf fulfills the law, Romans 10:4. Jesus in our name and on our behalf, atones for our sins and the sins of the whole world, 1 John 2:2. The question is can you believe and trust in what Jesus has done for you? If you can, then you are saved. If you can't believe, then you are lost.

Those that cannot believe the Gospel usually turn to religion. Religion is man's effort to save himself by what he is or by what he has become. Those that are trying to be saved by their works and their obedience will be disappointed in the judgment. God only accepts the righteousness of Christ, if we are not in him, we will perish. This is why it is important to believe the Gospel and receive the Holy Spirit. In the judgment God will recognize his Spirit and will allow you into heaven. No one will enter into heaven on their own works or their own righteousness.
1 Corinthians 2:11 - For what man knows the things of a man except the spirit of the man which is in him? Even so no one knows the things of God except the Spirit of God. 12 Now we have received, not the spirit of the world, but the Spirit who is from God, that we might know the things that have been freely given to us by God. 13 These things we also speak, not in words which man’s wisdom teaches but which the Holy Spirit teaches, comparing spiritual things with spiritual. 14 But the natural man does not receive the things of the Spirit of God, for they are foolishness to him; nor can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned.

2 Corinthians 4:3 - But if our gospel be hid, it is hid to them that are lost: 4 In whom the god of this world hath blinded the minds of them which believe not, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine unto them.

Unless one gets to the end of the creature they will not get to the beginning of the Creator.

That is correct. However, when Paul declared that we are saved by faith, not works, it is works of law that he spoke about. Clearly he did not refute Christ's own words that faith is a work. We are saved by grace through faith, and faith is a work according to Jesus.
Paul does not merely limit "works" only to specific works of the law. In Titus 3:5, Paul stated that it is not by works of righteousness which we have done, (literally, works done in righteousness) but according to His mercy He saved us.. and in 2 Timothy 1:9, Paul stated that God saved us and called us with a holy calling, not according to our works.. So, Paul includes works in general. Your saved by "these" works and just not "those" works argument doesn't hold water.

In John 6:29, Jesus said - "This is the work (singular) of God, that you believe in Him whom He has sent," when He answered the Jews (who were taking a legalistic approach) when they asked, "What shall we do, so that we may work the works (plural) of God?" So, by Jesus' play on words here, He was not implying that believing is just "another" work in a series of works in a quest to receive salvation by works. Also, through believing, we are completely trusting in "Another's work," (Christ's finished work of redemption).

Paul clearly made a distinction between faith and works in Ephesians 2:8,9. He clearly stated that we are saved by grace through faith, not works. Paul did not say we are saved by the work of faith and just not other works or that we are saved by faith and other works, just not works of the law. Scripture speaks for itself without your eisegesis.

Let me propose a different conclusion: "Your view that Eph. 2:8 supports the notion that faith is a gift is simply wrong." No need to go further and conclude that if Eph. 2:8 doesn't say faith is a gift, then faith can't be a gift.

A gift indeed . Let all who name the name of JESUS CHRIST continue to keep all hope and faith IN HIM .
Rita , there is another at work in these last hours and it has come in its own name .
Its pumping out a false love by giving out a false hope . ITs hope sayeth and implies
that there is no need to have to believe on JESUS the CHRIST , BUT RATHER just love thy neighbor as thyself .
THUS it cometh of anti christ .
And allow me a parting question
HOW loving am i to my neighbor if i allow him to remain in another religoin or mindset
allow my neighbor to beleive he or she is fine in whatever religoin they believe . THAT DONT SOUND LIKE LOVE TO ME
Does it sound like love to you .
IF we can go with the flow and believe that muslims and other religoins do serve the same GOD we do
and that they had no need to repent and believe on JESUS CHRIST but rather lets just all find common ground
THEN , WE DO NOT LOVE THEM .
GOD IS LOVE , thus JESUS IS LOVE and i sure seem to remember GOD testied of JESUS CHRIST
JESUS warned what would occur to those who believed not .
You SEE GOD really IS LOVE and HIS DESIRE IS NONE DO PERISH
SO HE sent the SON so as all who do believe would not perish .
False love and false hope will save none . BUT JESUS , I KNOW HE SAVES . SO HE ALONE is who we must point too .

There are many who do twist things .
There are many thoughts and ideals and often they do lead folks down the wrong path .
WE do not know it all , BUT THIS WE DO KNOW , POINT TO JESUS CHRIST to the last breath
This we do know , YE MUST BELIEVE in HIM
Thus let no other thought , ideal , man , angel or donkey try and convince us otherwise .
Many distractions and distractors are about and roam all over the planet .
There is much that JESUS DID , as john well said all the books of earth could not contain it .
BUT WHAT WE DO KNOW is WHAT WE NEED TO KNOW .
and that is this . TO BE SAVED ONE MUST BELEIVE IN JESUS THE CHRIST
and offer up NO OTHER HOPE to this world but HE AND HE ALONE .
that I DO KNOW as should we all .
In the end , when all stand before HIM , there will be only TWO GROUPS . SHEEP and GOATS .
REMEMBER THIS . HE WILL NOT BE ANGRY at those who CONSTANTY POINTED TO HE ALONE
and refused to offer up any other false hope or false love , BUT SIMPLY STAYED THE COURSE POINTING TO JESUS CHRIST
and no other .

We were as dumb sheep that we all led astray . TRUTH IS , we cannnot DO anything WITHOUT HIM .
and that BE A FACT .
ABIDE IN ME AND I IN You , for without ME .............
exactly . TIME WE GIVE ALL CREDIT , ALL GLORY and ALL RECOGNITION TO WHOM IT BELONGS
on GOD , ON CHRIST and not on us .
The blind cannot lead the blind . AND ALL WERE BLIND ,
JESUS OPENS THE EYES and giveth SIGHT UNTO THE BLIND .
And seeing BY HIS GRACE and doing by THE SPIRIT which both gives us those desires and ability to do that which is
pleasing in HIS SIGHT .
there is no man alive or dead ,
there is no man who has walked this earth
who can say , I HAVE SAVED MYSELF , I HAVE DONE THAT by own hands WHICH IS PLEASING TO GOD
I am JUSTIFIED by my own works . NONE .
And lambs SHOULD KNOW THAT VERY WELL .
SO i leave us with paul , who did more than most to spread the gospel , to correct and edify the church .
HE wrote this
I labored more abundantely than they all , YET NOT I BUT THE GRACE OF GOD ..........
WHO DID PUAL GIVE THE CREDIT GLORY AND HONOR TOO . GOD , JESUS CHRIST . YES IT IS A GIFT SISTER .
And it cometh NOT OF OURSELVES BUT OF GOD . yep .

Salvation is a free gift given in Christ JESUS given by GOD .
the condition is , YE MUST BELIEVE IN JESUS THE CHRIST .
THERE is a conditon all right . YE MUST BELIEVE in HE WHOM GOD DID SEND .
Ps if we say we believe in him AND yet our jesus hold rainbows and korans and etc , THEN IT AINT HIM
at all we BELIEVE IN or BELIEVED IN or BELIEVED .
For had we believed in JESUS CHRIST we would have BELIEVED HIS WORDS .
Also remember this too ,
If a man appears and tries to sway us and says
JUDGE Not the the other religoins , there are good people in them
there are good athiests , these know GOD they love him in their own way
BELIEVE HIM NOT .
FOR HAD THEY LOVED GOD they WOULD HAVE LOVED JESUS CHRIST .
And if they wont believe on JESUS CHRIST
they DENY THE TESIMONY THAT GOD GAVE OF HIS SON and thus THEY CALL GOD A LIAR .
and remember this too
when they holler there are good people in every religion ,
THERE IS NONE WHO IS GOOD AND SINNETH NOT , THUS THEY DO NEED THE SAVOIR just as WE DO .
TIME TO PREACH TEACH AND TO SPEAK that true gospel unto this dead and dying world .
cause all the so called good works any false religoin doeth or atheist is not gonna save them .
BUT JESUS , I KNOW HE SAVES , SO TIME TO POINT TO HIM AND HE ALONE .
