Wyonna,

I have experience with carnivore. It's a good diet but I made a few additions that are beneficial for me.

Here is my typical day WHEN I'm following my diet:

10 am:
Greek Yogurt with added blueberries. I also eat a handful of walnuts. All three have anti-inflammatory properties and great gut probiotics.

2 pm:
Apple

4 pm: cantaloupe

6 pm:
Apple

8 pm:
1 pound of skinless grilled chicken.

11 pm:
Bedtime, hopefully. If not I'll snack on a portion of pretzels to take the edge off of any hunger so I can fall asleep.

I also weigh myself every morning to know how I'm doing.

One problem for me is that I like cheese but it's murder on weight loss. I know it's carnivore but it inhibits weight loss.

Also, chicken breast has fewer calories than red meat and so weight loss happens faster eating that. Fish is also phenomenal, as long as it's not deep fried, lol.
I typically do carnivore with a lot of fatty red meat as a base. High fat seems to agree with me a lot. And red meat is actually very nutritious.

I love Greek yogurt but I typically don't eat it on carnivore.

So far, I've learned that my body prefers a lot of animal fat in a day. It makes me feel amazing with a lot of mental clarity and focus.

We tried ketogenic but for us it was hard to keep up with enough calories on it.

This is our 4th time going on carnivore. So far, my husband lost 90 lbs. I lost 30lbs but considering the meds I was on, that was pretty good.

The fiber from cantaloupe, apples, and blueberries is VERY beneficial for my digestive tract due to issues with diverticulitis and gastritis. The fiber also prevents diarrhea which can also be a problem for some on the carnivore. But everybody's body is different. For me it's about losing weight without losing nutrition and protecting my digestive tract.

60 lbs in a year is  fantastic. You must feel great!!

Yes, I'm ecstatic. I'm 5'9, 239. I should be at 180 a year from now. My problem was being an alcoholic for YEARS and I ate everything and cared about nothing, including my own life. Father freed me from all that in November of 23' and I haven't had a drop since.

@TLHKAJ

Sometimes I find it hard to break out of a diet mindset. Zero carb life helps me.
I hear you. For me, it's a lifestyle. If I get off track and have more than about 10-15 carbs in a day, inflammation goes up and I'm feeling it ..my gut isn't happy, etc. So it's 99% animal based for me. So the diet mindset is out the window. I'll eat this way till I can't. I do prep. I out up meats and such, and plan to freeze dry meats and eggs soon and that will store for 25+yrs. But I also prep some organic/non-gmo beans and rice. And I have a ton of seeds ...veggies and herbs. I use herbs medicinally and I grow some of them. But that's preps ...planting fruit trees and berries as well. Looking for Jerusalem Artichoke...a survival food that is far superior to potatoes. But I'm eating the most nutrient dense foods (meats, eggs, etc) as long as I am able and it's available.

Two weeks in is usually when ketosis kicks in. I'm 15 days in and I feel incredible!

I feel like Im in my early 20's again.

This morning I wanted my 1 year old son to try salmon. He didn't like it. So I figured I'd eat it. Just a plain decent sized piece of salmon without salt or seasoning. For some reason, something just clicked and the fish tasted like roaring waters of life.

From there, I stopped feeling hungry and decided to push the kids up the block in the double stroller like yesterday only this time I did two rounds like I used to do instead of just one. The more I pushed, the better I felt.

I am so grateful to have this energy to be the wife and Mom I really want to be. Ketosis is a bit hard to describe but it feels youthful, focused, and full of vitality.

Apparently ketosis only takes 3 or 4 days. Im on day 18 and I am very hungry all the time. Hubby says this usually happens for the week before the appetite goes down significantly.

I feel amazing energy and I think I understand this lifestyle more. I learned that weight gain could quite easily be body recomposition, gaining muscle and bone density. I am not gaining weight but I'm not currently losing anymore.

This carnivore way of eating may cause weight gain but is mainly about healing the body over time. It's not a quick fix. Once hormones regulate and healing has occurred many carnivores who have gained weight lose it all and are at a healthy version of a lower weight.

I think the main thing I need is patience and time. I feel amazing energy, great skin, and mental clarity. The weight loss I believe will come with time. It's possible that Im gaining in muscle and bone density. Those are good things.

An excerpt from my post #52:
Rambling here - 1) My garden has finally been cleared as a prep for the coming winter (here at NZ). But the gist is that gardens grow, well, vegetables and not proteins. So I've been doing what I need to do, which is mostly eating fish. This week, I have been setting up a run for my new but used trailer-mounted chicken coop, only because a friend of mine has a friend who is giving away 8 layers and I happened to mention the overall lack of protein in my diet. So here goes my chicken experiment (just gimme the eggs)...

...and an update:

I finally took delivery of 7 layer hens, not 8 (the owner ate one at the last minute!) two days ago (free from a friend). I have 3 eggs already! Here is a photo of the coop-on-wheels taken on the day I bought it at auction:

chicken coop trailer 3 of 3.jpeg

The tire is no longer flat, and there are four nesting boxes on each side (which I have since painted). The run is a chain link fence with a waterproof canopy.

It was a top priority that the coop be mobile, as that's how my off-grid is set up, as per the Lord.

I ordered one of these fancy Omlet brand automatic door openers:

I was coming up short on protein (like "Appalachia Homestead with Patara" woman was saying in her vid). So hopefully, if I can grow what the chx need and don't need to buy inputs, then I'll be sussed.

I eat almost 100% organically. My diet is all over the place because I burn a lot of calories working the homestead. I don't eat to socialize or to massage my moods. I only eat when I am hungry, which hunger changes depending on what I'm up to today/this week. My body is at the point where it tells me what I need.

Im on week 4 of carnivore.
My breakfast: two fried eggs over easy with four strips of fatback and bulletproof coffee.

This morning Im back to feeling energetic. Yesterday, my body seemed to go out of ketosis entirely and I felt lethargic. This is normal this early in the game. My body is targeting glucose and will kick me out of ketosis when it finds those stores.

My skin looks really clear and wonderful.

When I view exercise as a vanity and weight loss tool, its easy to lose the motivation to do it. When I view it as medicine great for my mental, emotional, and physical wellbeing it becomes harder to skip.

It's day 24 of carnivore and I honestly feel like a new person. I keep feeling strength, conviction, and courage like a deep well. I feel extremely motivated and happy.
