You have passed over the word "
image" and refer only to "
likeness", which is only an adjective of "
image." By that definition, you must take away from the word of God.
So, take your pick:

- mere, empty, image, semblance (fig.)
...But, why squabble over what is obvious? What "
image" is "real" and not just paper or light, or even flesh - which is not actually as God is?
