imo one who seeks and follows Christ differentiates themselves from "the sea," so while God surely knew us then, we have the choice of changing our minds or not, and what mother would not take new notice of a child who has changed their mind for the better?

this is why i question Scott's perspective, even though nihilism is correct from a certain pov imo
I know a priest who believes in nihalism because he says God cannot send His creatures to an eternal hell.
And another one that believes hell lasts a moment.
Jesus spoke of a place where God is not. An outer darkness. That's hell.

i would seek to point out to him how preoccupied with the future he is, at the expense of Understand I AM
Right Now is all that will ever exist, right
And another one that believes hell lasts a moment.
same for this guy
Jesus spoke of a place where God is not. An outer darkness. That's hell.
plenty of evidence, fruit, for this perspective here/now i guess

Well dont you?? IF you dont than you really have problems, If Christ cannot make you feel special God forbid, i dont know where you can go to get better.

I know I'm saved, and that's all that matters in the end.

I guess than you really havnt had that walk with God than that has caused your life to be turned upside down for His sake, because if you had you would know better. Believe me there are few in this world who will be ready for whats coming, when they all run to there churches and find out they cant help.

"walk with God"

m'kay, whatever.

Depends on what you mean by "walking with God".
Do you not follow after Him, is Not Jesus Lord, or is it men you follow after and there religions?

Mat_1:23 Behold, a virgin shall be with child, and shall bring forth a son, and they shall call his name Emmanuel, which being interpreted is, God with us

and so He is.

Joh_14:23 Jesus answered and said unto him, If a man love me, he will keep my words: and my Father will love him, and we will come unto him, and make our abode with him.

see men can walk with God even now, Just one of teh many things that happened at Christs resurection.

Yes, I "follow after him". Have I conversed with him personally? No, I'm not one of these 'oracles' claiming to "know God", I know of him.

Whats an oracle?? God didnt create oracles HE created sheep

Joh 10:27 My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me:
Joh 10:28 And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand.

this bit

Mat_16:17 And Jesus answered and said unto him, Blessed art thou, Simon Barjona: for flesh and blood hath not revealed it unto thee, but my Father which is in heaven.

and this

Mat_11:25 At that time Jesus answered and said, I thank thee, O Father, Lord of heaven and earth, because thou hast hid these things from the wise and prudent, and hast revealed them unto babes.

and this

Gal_1:12 For I neither received it of man, neither was I taught it, but by the revelation of Jesus Christ.

and this

Rev_3:20 Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me.

doesnt make us oracles just believers, it is the way it is supposed to be.

Haha! This subject seems to be bleeding into many posts right now! o_O

Obviously I "like" your two priest friends. ;)

As for the bolded last line of your quote...do you believe in the "forever" eternal hell spoken of by the majority ?

( for me, if it is forever , it is not longer chastisement, correct , or reproof.
The hangman's noose would be kinder. ..and I don't think we are kinder than God, or more righteous, do you?. )

Someone who believes himself a bastion of truth, even above and in stark contrast to the written word. There are a lot of those types here that I don't particularly care much for.
Christ is the truth you wont find it anywhere else.

on the "dialectic" part? imo it comes to us as "see and not see" and a few other phrases, but due to the rise of logic would have been obscured anyway, in order to "hide from the wise." But as "logic" has come up again, i should prolly differentiate it now from say Scientific Method or whatever, as one's "logic" can easily be faulty, and this is what Scripture can reveal. Of course SM gets scrutinized too, but it is pretty unassailable, might even be perceived as a mechanism of faith
I would disagree that the Scientific Method is unassailable. The careful scientist may take all of the right steps after beginning, but his beginnings also are always based on certain assumptions. Any assumption may get a person into trouble if it is a wrong assumption. As someone on here frequently effectively asks, when there is a disagreement, who decides who is wrong or right? Even sincere and careful scientists at times disagree; even sincere and careful followers of Christ do at times disagree. If [big IF] there is only one absolute truth, why should any of these ever disagree?

@GodsGrace hello....Well I must say I am a bit confused here...thought perhaps there had been another GodsGrace at an earlier time, who I had the back and forth with a couple of times.....
Lovely testimony, I do appreciate it when people have the courage to speak of what will usually get you 'ripped into
' by some on the forum...thank you...I still don't understand though, seems so odd...Well maybe I am finally losing my marbles lol

When I met Jesus I had NEVER even read the bible
This is nowhere near what I thought I remembered you writing at the first, but it doesn't seem to exist now....As I said very confused right now...I recall politely saying no thank you, to you for offering to teach me, and then stopped reading or writing to you.
So time for my humble pie...I am so very sorry if I got you mixed up with someone else, I don't get it, as I still recall it..You had a different photo up then, a much younger 'girl'...But I really must be recalling it wrong.
Once again, very sorry for writing what I quite obviously shouldn't have, as it seems I was totally wrong....

No problem on my part.
New posters are difficult to understand, maybe.
We need to give them a chance.
Peace.

P.S.
Getting ripped into doesn't frighten me. For I know whom I have believed.
But so far,,,no one has "ripped into me". I find everyone here very reasonable.
Well, maybe except one...who is rather angry all the time.

i'm glad for some commentary there, bc i'm still testing that one. But what i meant to bring out is that while a scientist might also "get married" to a theory, sure, and a scientist might even get biased, hide data, purposely forward theories for money or whatever, etc, make atom bombs, if the bomb does not work, or when fruit is realized, these are not denied. They have to be explained by the theory, or the theory has to change. There are no more Phrenologists, for example. That branch has been "pruned" iow.

and every now and then we get a scientist, Einstein, who is humble enough to even publicly doubt his own theories

I do agree that perfect science should agree with perfect truth. Since science usually has no, or at least minimal, means to measure things spiritual or things not perceivable by the five senses of men accurately, it usually misses all of the truth. Until they also listen to God leading them they are bound to continue to miss all of the truth.

Jesus told us what the truth is, but followers of Christ also usually [if not always] miss all of the truth, because of what they do not know and have not been shown. God really made that part easier for us in that He required us to go according to faith:

"But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him." Heb 11:6
