Genesis 6:11-13 says: “The earth also was corrupt before God, and the earth was filled with violence. [12] And God looked upon the earth, and, behold, it was corrupt; for all flesh had corrupted his way upon the earth. [13] And God said unto Noah, The end of all flesh is come before me; for the earth is filled with violence through them; and, behold, I will destroy them with the earth.”

“...and, behold, I will destory them with the earth.”

...with the earth. What does ‘destory’ here mean because the earth is still here, yes?

Genesis 8:22
[22] While the earth remaineth, seedtime and harvest, and cold and heat, and summer and winter, and day and night shall not cease.

"And the LORD God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul." Gen 2:7

What is still here is the empty shell of dust [the earth]. God breathed into man the breath of life, but then man partook of the forbidden fruit and Life was effectively destroyed according to God. The earth [the empty shell of flesh from dust] remains, but until Jesus made Life possible again, everyone was really "dead men walking".

"And so it is written, The first man Adam was made a living soul; the last Adam was made a quickening spirit." I Cor 15:45

From destruction to Life!

well, it says "destroy them with the earth?"

fwiw reminiscent of time to destroy those who destroy the earth... Revelation 11:18

“destroy them with the earth” happened in the flood? But the definition of ‘destroyed’ the earth (along?) with them is ...that the earth is still here. So ‘destroy’ is to do away with in sight of something better. I know it is a strange question. For example: the evil ones name will not be sown anymore and will perish. We want our name to perish. We want our house destroyed. The earth ‘destroyed’ becomes (passing away) death, which becomes a new heaven and earth resurrected and glorified with His presence.

The earth destroyed by Water and Fire. Death and resurrection Life. Why those two: baptism of water and by Fire? For the body and Earth both to be glorified and restored in Christ. What does the water baptism signify? Genesis 8:9-12 But the dove found no rest for the sole of her foot, and she returned unto him into the ark, for the waters were on the face of the whole earth: then he put forth his hand, and took her, and pulled her in unto him into the ark. [10] And he stayed yet other seven days; and again he sent forth the dove out of the ark; [11] And the dove came in to him in the evening; and, lo, in her mouth was an olive leaf pluckt off: so Noah knew that the waters were abated from off the earth. [12] And he stayed yet other seven days; and sent forth the dove; which returned not again unto him any more.

Why a raven first that went forth to and fro?
Then the dove sent out(of heaven), having no place to rest she returns. UNTIL she finds a place for peace to rest :Mark 1:10 And straightway coming up out of the water, he saw the heavens opened, and the Spirit like a dove descending upon him:

John 1:31-32
[31] And I knew him not: but that he should be made manifest to Israel, therefore am I come baptizing with water. [32] And John bare record, saying, I saw the Spirit descending from heaven like a dove(in bodily shape), and it abode upon him.

I’ve been studying the baptisms. Maybe you can, please, point to any misunderstanding I may have. John’s baptism was with repentance. Christ’s baptism without repentance...irrevocable.

John 3:24-27
[24] For John was not yet cast into prison. [25] Then there arose a question between some of John's disciples and the Jews about purifying. [26] And they came unto John, and said unto him, Rabbi, he that was with thee beyond Jordan, to whom thou barest witness, behold, the same baptizeth, and all men come to him. [27] John answered and said, A man can receive nothing, except it be given him from heaven.

Which answers the question: Mark 11:30
[30] The baptism of John, was it from heaven, or of men? answer me.

John’s baptism was of men. that is why John said I must decrease and He increase.

Which helps: Acts 19:2-6
[2] He said unto them, Have ye received the Holy Ghost since ye believed? And they said unto him, We have not so much as heard whether there be any Holy Ghost. [3] And he said unto them, Unto what then were ye baptized? And they said, Unto John's baptism. [4] Then said Paul, John verily baptized with the baptism of repentance, saying unto the people, that they should believe on him which should come after him, that is, on Christ Jesus. [5] When they heard this , they were baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus. [6] And when Paul had laid his hands upon them, the Holy Ghost came on them; and they spake with tongues, and prophesied.

Romans 11:29-32
[29] For the gifts and calling of God are without repentance. (Irrevocable)[30] For as ye in times past have not believed God, yet have now obtained mercy through their unbelief: [31] Even so have these also now not believed, that through your mercy they also may obtain mercy. [32] For God hath concluded them all in unbelief, that he might have mercy upon all.

i'm not even getting what the Q is, sorry, even if i kinda get the gist there

not seeing the earth destroyed anywhere in there, except @ "destroy those who destroy the earth," there in the Rev?

The earth destroyed by Water and Fire.
fwiw i would reflect a bit more on the context there, which is likely revealed in 8Dear friends, don't let this one thing escape you: With the Lord one day is like a thousand years, and a thousand years like one day.

also imo
Hebrews 3:13 Lexicon: But encourage one another day after day, as long as it is still called "Today," so that none of you will be hardened by the deceitfulness of sin.
should be considered in this context, note how it is maybe being violated

Revelation 11:18-19
[18] And the nations were angry, and thy wrath is come, and the time of the dead, that they should be judged, and that thou shouldest give reward unto thy servants the prophets, and to the saints, and them that fear thy name, small and great; and shouldest destroy them which destroy the earth. [19] And the temple of God was opened in heaven, and there was seen in his temple the ark of his testament: and there were lightnings, and voices, and thunderings, and an earthquake, and great hail.

“And the temple of God was opened in heaven...” maybe even ‘destroy’ there is not our definition as neither is ‘wrath’.

Looking at the OP versus an other than archaic English might help.

Genesis 6:11-13 New International Version (NIV)
11 Now the earth was corrupt in God’s sight and was full of violence. 12 God saw how corrupt the earth had become, for all the people on earth had corrupted their ways. 13 So God said to Noah, “I am going to put an end to all people, for the earth is filled with violence because of them. I am surely going to destroy both them and the earth.

Earth here is the land, not the planet.

Genesis 8:22 New International Version (NIV)
22 “As long as the earth endures,
seedtime and harvest,
cold and heat,
summer and winter,
day and night
will never cease.”

I don't think it means any more or any less than God destroyed the people and He destroyed the then earth...and cleansed it with water.
The old passed away...a new dispensation started ..from Adam to Noah was gone.

Sometimes I think we read too much into one word. :)

Blessings...Helen

While the globe of the earth is still here, all the evils and creations of mankind were destroyed (wiped out) by God in the Flood, and will again be destroyed (wiped out) by God through a supernatural firestorm which will move right across the earth in the future. That will be a cleansing fire in order to create a New Earth wherein dwelleth righteousness.

Hi VIJ,

The flood destroyed all the earth except 2 of every kind of animal (Genesis 6:19) and 8 humans that were saved thru water (1 Peter3:20-21)!

This is essentially correct. What should be added is that the fountains of the great deep were broken up in order for waters to rise from below as well as fall from above. Most creationists interpret this to mean the breaking up of the continental plates, which led to massive upheavals on the earth and the creation on most of the mountain ranges we have today. The fossil record also records just how deeply covered over the entire ante-deluvian world was in sediments, suggesting a complete overhaul of the entire earth's surface.

"Destruction of the earth" isn't all that inaccurate, therefore, except in the absolute sense. It was most certainly a destruction of the earth as it existed before the flood.

I am not sure I can satisfy your questions, but I will just sit down here and write and see what comes about...

God made man flawless but with the ability to mar himself... presuming perhaps like those who dabble in tattoos that it looks good so maybe God will not consider it an evil thing, at least not while he is guiding himself out of ignorance about any better way.

Man had in him, I believe, even in that initial sinless state, those three things: the lust of the eye, the lust of the flesh and the pride of life. Perhaps as important as ridding man of the actual sins committed was the need to remove those things which would attract man to sin again... again those three things. We can wash a baby who has been playing in the mud, but eventually, hopefully, the baby will cease to be a baby and will learn or can taught not to return to the mud on purpose.

"Jesus answered and said unto her, Whosoever drinketh of this water shall thirst again:
But whosoever drinketh of the water that I shall give him shall never thirst; but the water that I shall give him shall be in him a well of water springing up into everlasting life." John 4:13-14

God shows us through scripture specifically what is wrong, but sometimes we simply cannot see or understand His message. I am not one who understands or even pursues much in all of the prophecies seen in types and shadows especially in OT, but sometimes God will so direct us. Sometimes it is necessary so that we may understand what we need to understand. God knows.

God shows us the need to be clean as He is clean. The problem is that early on we may not realize that we are dirty or at least so dirty that a bath is required. The water is that first means of removing the soil... but as we see, ultimately it does require more than that. Noah and his family were not drowned. They were saved, but almost immediately Noah and his youngest son, Ham, are into it again. Noah's home made brew and Ham curious eyes bring them to trouble. What was it that Jesus brought that was beyond the ministry of John the Baptist?

"I indeed baptize you with water unto repentance: but he that cometh after me is mightier than I, whose shoes I am not worthy to bear: he shall baptize you with the Holy Ghost, and with fire:" Matt 3:11

So Noah was saved as so many of these today believing OSAS are saved. He was saved from drowning, but as we have seen that was not the end of trouble for him. First the raven and then the dove...

I guess the raven going first is the way most of us do it at the first when we have really repented and are often willing to say, "I am saved" not realizing how little we know about ourselves.

What we do then, commonly, is try to use our carnal knowledge and skills to obtain God's answers. That is the raven in Noah's case perhaps considering the raven's reputation as a scavenger and a bird of prey. Everyone else for him is an enemy and prey and to be devoured... and all means are legal to accomplish what we see as our purpose from God. The raven was not Noah's friend or helper except in a negative way. That it never returned was certainly a message.
That we ultimately cannot please God by our carnal efforts alone [no matter how good we think our intentions] is a message.

Then the dove was sent and of course the dove according to scripture is in itself a message as well... a more favorable one. This has been seen as the Holy Ghost letting the hearer hear that God is well pleased with the one on whom he descended [Luke 3:22]. Perhaps Noah did not fully understand what the dove at least symbolized, but God certainly did. God was the One who had him use the dove next in order to move toward the best way...the best message. It came back when there was no place for its foot to stand, but when it went out again it also did not return. The dove was more particular about where it stood and what it ate than the raven.

John's baptism was a good thing as our first repentance is a good thing... but water [the baptism of John] cannot wash off the evil dwelling within us that leads us to sin again. This is the work of the Holy Ghost and the fire, with which Jesus would baptize [immerse] us. Some things have to be burned up completely to assure that they do not reappear later on...

"For our God is a consuming fire." Heb 12:29
Consider the experience of the three Hebrews thrown into the fiery furnace in Daniel chapter 3.

The baptism of John moved us from the unclean animal division in the lowest part of the Ark to the clean animal division of the middle part. But while we have become clean beasts, we are still beasts. We need to move up to the top most level of the Ark where there are no beasts:

"Wisdom hath builded her house, she hath hewn out her seven pillars:
She hath killed her beasts; she hath mingled her wine; she hath also furnished her table." Prov 9:1-2

The wisdom that is able to not simply cleanse the beasts in us but to kill them is the fire baptism which will burn up all of the filth and filthy ways within us.

Indeed, John knew that his own message still ultimately was not enough. Becoming a clean beast is a good thing, but it is not enough. We need to become like Jesus.

"Beloved, now are we the sons of God, and it doth not yet appear what we shall be: but we know that, when he shall appear, we shall be like him; for we shall see him as he is." I John 3:2

At that time there was only one landmass on the earth. It was not divided until the days of Peleg, When mankind was also divided across the land.

The fossil record reaches back to when there was no oceans etc. on the earth. The earth landmass was shattered during the war in heaven and totally submerged underwater.

Then in the six days of creation God lifted up a landmass, which was completely flooded at the time Noah.

I believe the new earth and heaven will be restored to what it was in Genesis 1:1. No sun, moon, stars, darkness, oceans, etc.
