Brakelite, we don't need freedom to break the law... We do that already.
But we are free to not break the law, so long as we are willing to appreciate the law's authority over our lives, and we do so through faith in the power of the Son of God to conform us to His image.
I would hate to think that...
we are forgiven for being law breakers.
is used as a sop to not bothering to recognise such authority, thinking that because...
Whatever sins we commit, they are forgiven, covered and not imputed to us.
that exempts us from obedience.

Jesus paid for the broken ones, now the question is;
6 What shall we say then? Shall we continue in sin, that grace may abound?

2 God forbid. How shall we, that are dead to sin, live any longer therein?
Yep, that's me... I am dead in Christ. I am dead to sin, and no longer live in sin... Because I am dead in Christ.

They that are in the flesh cannot please God. But I am not in the flesh, but in the spirit. The spirit of God dwells in me. Because Christ is in me, my body is Dead, but
But we are free to not break the law
We are free not to break the law? Ok.. sure... Didn't know we needed freedom not to break the law.

that exempts us from obedience.
Well then argue with Romans 4, cause that's where I got that.

Seventh Day Adventist legaism. We are dead to the law when born again.

We are free to sin but out of love and obedience to Christ we should not sin. Our new natures do not want to sin. Yet as Paul said we all still sin because of our flesh, the old nature.

18 Being then made free from sin, ye became the servants of righteousness.
I suppose we are set free from involuntary slavery (to sin) to voluntary servanthood (to righteousness).

Well then argue with Romans 4, cause that's where I got that.
I don't see the righteousness that comes by faith as being separated from practical living, because even Abraham, although righteousness was imputed to him because he believed God, still...Ge 26:5 Abraham obeyed my voice, and kept my charge, my commandments, my statutes, and my laws.
The law which is written upon our heart is the law of love. This comes through faith, it is Christ Himself dwelling within, the hope of glory, a glory greater than that which anointed the written letter. Yet this does not remove any obligation to obedience, but contrarywise, fulfils it. Love being the fulfilling of the law. But our study of, and love for the law, and our recognition of its authority, can never contradict that which is written in our hearts, and should never contradict the way we live our lives as a result. All things should harmonise. Mercy, grace, law, love, practical living. not one or any of these can or should be set aside as each one is a reflection of God's character and nature, that very same character that we are being conformed to by His Spirit dwelling within.

Indeed we often do. But without excuse, because Christ has done, and is doing, all that is necessary for us to live in victory over sin. But hey, that is SDA teaching, so ignore it. Continue to sin as you will, set aside the law as having no authority over your life, because God forbid that any of His children should actually obey His commandments.

@CoreIssue I suppose my post #59 , because it is SDA teaching, is error also? Because that post is a fairly good summary of my beliefs , and my church's beliefs regarding our obligations and walk as Christians. No doubt because it is SDA teaching, you would disagree with it. If you would be so kind as to pick it apart and correct me, and thus save this wretched soul from heresy and cult affiliation, I am sure I would be eternally grateful.

Or @CoreIssue what about post #54, or #64 above? Are they also legalistic SDA heresy? If so, please point it out to me what specifically is error for surely you must care deeply for my soul seeing as how often you point out my cultish affiliations. Here I am willing for you to point by point correct my teachings as I have revealed in my posts on this thread regarding law, grace, and faith. Opening myself up to investigation and inquiry. Go hard, don't hold back. Are my teachings Christian or are they teachings of a cult bent on perverting the gospel and beguiling people to hell?

However @CoreIssue I do request that you stick to the topic in hand. @"ByGrace" I am sure would not be too chuffed to have her thread go down endless labyrinthine gopher holes wherein is no conclusion or point. This topic is about law, obedience, and grace. So often used by those with a prejudice against Adventists as ammunition to shoot holes in our theology. So you should have plenty of resource material to work with right?

If you want to engage discussion about SDA theology put in the SDA forum.

I have no intention on derailing this thread.

I am not talking about SDA theology...you were the one who brought it up by saying my post on grace and law (as per the thread topic) was SDA error. So what I am trying to engage you with is my teaching on grace and law. The topic of this thread. No derailing, on the contrary, absolutely in keeping with the topic. Where were the errors in my teaching that you considered them wrong? I think in 4 different posts I have offered my thoughts on the matter, how could discussion all of a sudden be derailing this thread? I haven't diverged one iota from the topic, and I'm not about to start now.

Another of @Willie T questions from his thread...

Maybe it is "just me' but I'd like to see the Q and many Answer's all in one place, not hidden between other questions and answers! lol

42. Are We Free to Ignore God's Law if We are "Under Grace"?

What The True God Jehovah and his Only Begotten Son did for mankind they did because of their love for mankind. We are to live by their example and love as they love. This means first and foremost we recognize the love they first showed us and love them in return. We do this by understanding that The Father and God of Jesus is JEHOVAH/YAHWEH. That he is our Creator, Father and God and that he has made his Only Begotten Son our Lord and King and has made his Son King in that kingdom which will rule over mankind and that the Father and God of Jesus has rewarded his Only Begotten Son with immortality and incorruption when Jehovah God resurrected his Only Begotten Son. Jehovah God rewarded his Only Begotten Son with incorruption and immortality because of his faithful love his Only Begotten Son has always shown his Father and God Jehovah. This faithful love they express we are to express as they did. When you love as they love you don't kill or steal or bear false witness against someone you truly love. Everything we do has to do with our true motivation, is it love for The True God and his Only Begotten Son and if so then we show or express love to our fellow man but especially to our spiritual brothers and sisters. My answer to your question is we express Love to our God and Father first, to his Only Begotten Son then to our fellow man but especially our to our spiritual brothers and sisters.

I already addressed the issue of law.
Oh, you mean here?
Seventh Day Adventist legaism.
So, okay. You think that my claim that God's law is more authoritative than man's laws and traditions is Adventist legalism. That, despite my explanation here...
The law which is written upon our heart is the law of love. This comes through faith, it is Christ Himself dwelling within, the hope of glory, a glory greater than that which anointed the written letter.
which I believe is not legalism, but can rightly be termed righteousness by faith, an entirely Biblical concept that must surely result in obedience to God's commandments, yes?
We are dead to the law when born again.

We are free to sin but out of love and obedience to Christ we should not sin. Our new natures do not want to sin. Yet as Paul said we all still sin because of our flesh, the old nature.
Which nature is dead to the law? The old flesh nature, or the new man born again by His Spirit? In other words, which nature died in Christ on the cross? Which nature now has Christ's life living within? Which nature was buried with Christ in baptism? Which nature was Paul referring to when he said "it is no longer I that liveth"? So which nature is no longer subject to the condemnation of the law, because it is dead in Christ, and which nature now has Christ living within empowering that new nature to holiness?

Revelation 1:17-18 KJV

Yes people today don't think much about Love for God or his Only Begotten Son or mankind for that matter. What I hear today is people flapping their lips about it but not really expressing it toward The True God or his Only Begotten Son much less mankind.

To not not steal from someone or not kill them because you love them that's just muddled nonsense. To not bear false witness against someone because you love them that's just muddled nonsense. To be honest and truthful with someone because you love them, that's just muddled nonsense.

I have never said Jehovah died . I have always said that his only begotten Son died, so when I say the loving act that Jehovah God and his Only Begotten Son did for mankind you don't know what that is do you? You don't truly understand the sacrifice Jehovah God made do you. It's based on love, reason it out in your mind. What was the great sacrifice Jehovah God did for mankind.

He Jehovah God became flesh like me. And then nailed that flesh to a stick, there by showing me what emphasis I should place on my flesh
