And, didn't our hearts burn within us...? That scripture.
I only quoted a few of the numerous scriptures that reveal experiencing feelings and the Holy Spirit.
I know many times (especially during worship) how I can't help but cry. I am not sad or depressed, but I suddenly feel His presence and I start crying. I suppose tears of joy, Amen?

Philippians 4 says a lot about joy; and it's linked with the wholesome habits of prayer and thanksgiving. 1 Thess. 5 also says something similar. :)

Amen , what a lovely thread @Miss Hepburn . (Thanks for the tag @Pearl )
Congratulations in getting to 43 posts without being invaded by the nay-sayers and Cessationists.

Moses knew about the Holy Spirit and 'feelings' when He said to God ..
"If thy Presence go not with us, take us not up hence."
Jesus called Him The Comforter. What a lovely name.
A Comforter is something which wraps it arms around us ..and does just that comforts us.

The night I was saved , I then went outside our house ..and suddenly the powerful Presence of God fell on me. I 'felt' His Presence right there.

I know what Miss H means when she referred to being pushed by Him , the night her mum died. Twice I have felt a kind of physical pressure ...both times on my head ...as if He was saying..."bow your heard". One time my head was almost pushed gently down onto my knees , in reverence.

Yes indeed ...He does so often 'make Himself known'.

@Pearl- Our old pastors father knew a man who had lost his eyeballs too.
So it was probably in the very early 1900's Our pastor gave us a tract which I still have. ...with photo's.

This young man had lost his eyes , they had shriveled. He had a young lad who earned pennies by leading him around by the hand. Everyone in Brighton knew him. One day , on a walk his eyes dropped right out like shriveled raisins. The young boy ran off.
In those days healings were the norm, much more than now.
He was christian ( his parents were not) but he had never asked for healing. At a meeting on the Sunday night he went forward for prayer.
As he went back to his seat , for the rest of the evening he could feel his eyeballs growing....by the end of the meeting he had baby blue shining eyes. It was seen and witnessed by the whole church. Our pastors dad saw it too.

He went home and joyfully told his parents ...who straight way laughed at hm and told him the there was no God.
He yelled at them and as he ran up stairs he said " I don't care about seeing, I don't care about anything anymore." Within a hour his eyes had shrunk again, dried up, and fallen out. :(

But he went down to his parents and said..."I believe in God, I believe He heals, and I believe that He wants me to have eyes. "
He took some water and told them to not bother him as he was going to his room and would not come out again, as he needed to repent before God.

I forget how long he was in there...I just remember that when he came out, he had eyes again. As they grew they were very very painful ....he went and told his pastor who told him to write it all down. At the bottom of the tract there are all the names and addresses of the people that knew him when he had nothing but empty eye sockets, and witnessed his new eyes.

We have the God of Elijah ..the God who answers by fire...✟

You must never have experienced those feelings.
I do think it's important to move beyond feelings and concentrate on resting in the certainty of Divine promises in Scripture as we search them prayerfully, and learning more about the Person and Work of Christ.

Twice I have felt a kind of physical pressure ...both times on my head ...as if He was saying..."bow your heard".
I've experienced that feeling on a number of occasions as I was praying, it felt so real I had to put up my hand to make sure I wasn't wear a hat.

Do you know that if there was more of this sort of sharing on forums and less of the pick it to pieces sort, then it would do the church a power of good.

Well, Biblical truth and doctrine, grasped in faith as our bedrock, do matter so much.
They do, I agree, but feeling the Holy Spirit is just such a wonderful experience.

I remember one night at my house a small group, myself and my husband and three people from church who were virtual strangers to us and each other, met to pray. And we all knelt in a circle with our back towards each other and prayed for a good long time, both in English and also in our Spirit tongues.

We prayed long and hard for our country, for world events and perhaps also for more personal issues. And then suddenly and spontaneously we started to laugh. We couldn't stop laughing and we rolled around on the carpet with tears of laughter streaming down our faces as we experienced the presence of the Holy Spirit in our midst.

Rather than concentrate on the experience, I do believe that it's important to concentrate on the truth-seeking desire for Christ in Scripture, as led by the Spirit Who shall not speak of Himself:

"Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will shew you things to come." (John 16.13)

Those parents were more blind than he was. Such obstinance makes me angry

farouk, that's all true and there's plenty of stuff about that on other threads BUT this thread is about people's experiences of feeling the Holy Spirit.

The emphasis of the Apostles was the risen Jesus. It was Jesus who took their breath away so to speak. How could they not spill what the had seen and heard ie, witnessed?
One day he was being tortured, bleeding, dying and dead and their despondency knew no bounds. His murder knocked their hopes for a six and they found themselves sneaking around like frightened cats.

After witnessing their unstoppable leader who raised the dead and fed thousands with a handful their confidence soared. Now he was mangled and limp and dead, then to their utter astonishment a few days later he stands alive in their midst with a radiant attitude though the doors were locked. What do you suppose their tongues would be speaking about?

The record of Pentecost in Acts tells of the extraordinary experience of tongues of fire and the speaking of languages that others identified as languages of surrounding provinces. What were the Apostles saying? What was their witness re this dramatic event? it tells us, 'the wonderful works of God'
Peter then got up and spoke not of his wonderful experience that was just then occurring but used the opportunity to direct the people's attention to the risen Jesus. This is the emphasis of the Apostles and the scriptures. The Spirit is a witness to the most unique event in human history.

We can be assured that when the spirit's emphasis is of itself it is not the Spirit of God. Ohhhh the subtlety of the deceiver! He will take what appears to be the wonderful gift of God and use it to distract attention from the main event.

I am not suggesting the Spirit does not encourage and comfort, he certainly does that but he does it by elevating Jesus who according to the scriptures has been given the highest honours of the Universe, and for good reason.

Feelings can be misleading and we must be careful not to be carried away by them. I myself can attest that when I took the Blessed Eucharist at my Church when I first came and was completely overwhelmed by a sense of what the Eucharist was and meant so much so that I started to weep. I am thankful to God for that but I would not want to base everything on feelings

This is Wisdom....but what a person experiences in the presence of the Holy Spirit cannot be mistook as human emotion. It is a euphoria that many non-believers try to attain through drugs, alcohol or other means that excites the flesh and mind. This feeling is very difficult to express in words....it permeates throughout your whole body and spirit...your heart is so full of Him that you just want to shout in ways you can't seem to describe.

Well, Biblical truth and doctrine, grasped in faith as our bedrock, do matter so much.
Our bedrock is NOT our faith, my friend. Knowledge and faith are less than Love:

"And though I have the gift of prophecy, and understand all mysteries and all knowledge, and though I have all faith, so that I could remove mountains, but have not love, I am nothing." I Cor 13:2

As for our Rock...

"The LORD is my rock, and my fortress, and my deliverer; my God, my strength, in whom I will trust; my buckler, and the horn of my salvation, and my high tower." Psalm 18:2

And our Rock is that proper immovable foundation:

"Therefore whosoever heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them, I will liken him unto a wise man, which built his house upon a rock:
And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell not: for it was founded upon a rock." Matt 7:24-25

For other foundation can no man lay than that is laid, which is Jesus Christ." I Cor 3:12

But then once that Foundation is secured beneath us, then we are back to the Holy Spirit feelings as per the OP question:

"And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance." Acts 2:4

Back in March of 1976 it was when I really opened up my heart to God. As I began for the first time to speak in an unknown language I felt a marvelous warmth flow through my entire body top of my heard moving slowly all the way down to my feet. Every single part of my physical body felt the Holy Ghost pouring into me. Give God the glory!

Don't limit God by your prayers my friend. Ask God without reservation for anything and everything that He has for you. If you decide something is wrong and so exclude it from your prayer, you are saying ahead of time that you know better than God does just what you need. This is wrong. God always knows exactly what we need. Not one of us knows these things better than He.

"O LORD, I know that the way of man is not in himself: it is not in man that walketh to direct his steps" Jerem 10:23

Give God the glory!
