Amen , what a lovely thread
@Miss Hepburn . (Thanks for the tag
@Pearl )
Congratulations in getting to 43 posts without being invaded by the nay-sayers and Cessationists.
Moses knew about the Holy Spirit and 'feelings' when He said to God ..
"
If thy Presence go not with us, take us not up hence."
Jesus called Him
The Comforter. What a lovely name.
A Comforter is something which wraps it arms around us ..and does just that comforts us.
The night I was saved , I then went outside our house ..and suddenly the powerful Presence of God fell on me. I 'felt' His Presence right there.
I know what Miss H means when she referred to being
pushed by Him , the night her mum died. Twice I have felt a kind of physical pressure ...both times on my head ...as if He was saying..."bow your heard". One time my head was almost pushed gently down onto my knees , in reverence.
Yes indeed ...He does so often 'make Himself known'.
@Pearl- Our old pastors father knew a man who had lost his eyeballs too.
So it was probably in the very early 1900's Our pastor gave us a tract which I still have. ...with photo's.
This young man had lost his eyes , they had shriveled. He had a young lad who earned pennies by leading him around by the hand. Everyone in Brighton knew him. One day , on a walk his eyes dropped right out like shriveled raisins. The young boy ran off.
In those days healings were the norm, much more than now.
He was christian ( his parents were not) but he had never asked for healing. At a meeting on the Sunday night he went forward for prayer.
As he went back to his seat , for the rest of the evening he could feel his eyeballs growing....by the end of the meeting he had baby blue shining eyes. It was seen and witnessed by the whole church. Our pastors dad saw it too.
He went home and joyfully told his parents ...who straight way laughed at hm and told him the there was no God.
He yelled at them and as he ran up stairs he said " I don't care about seeing, I don't care about anything anymore." Within a hour his eyes had shrunk again, dried up, and fallen out.
But he went down to his parents and said..."I believe in God, I believe He heals, and I believe that He wants me to have eyes. "
He took some water and told them to not bother him as he was going to his room and would not come out again, as he needed to repent before God.
I forget how long he was in there...I just remember that when he came out, he had eyes again. As they grew they were very very painful ....he went and told his pastor who told him to write it all down. At the bottom of the tract there are all the names and addresses of the people that knew him when he had nothing but empty eye sockets, and witnessed his new eyes.
We have the God of Elijah ..the God who answers by fire...✟
