The two Witness, "the analogy".
what is an analogy? a comparison between two things, typically for the purpose of
explanation or clarification. scripture, Rev 11:6 "These have power
to shut heaven, that it
rain not in the days of their prophecy: and
have power over waters to turn them to blood, and to
smite the earth with all plagues, as often as they will". the anology is to Elijah and Moses. but they are not the two witness, but the two to compare with.
the first witness, John the Baptist, the fore runner, the Elijah to come. Scripture, Matthew 17:10-13 "And his disciples asked him, saying, Why then say the scribes that
Elias must first come? And Jesus answered and said unto them, Elias truly shall first come, and restore all things.
But I say unto you, That Elias is come already, and they knew him not, but have done unto him whatsoever they listed. Likewise shall also the Son of man suffer of them. Then the disciples understood that he spake unto them
of John the Baptist”.
Stop, hold it right here. one don't have to go any futher, the Lord Jesus, who cannot lie just told his disciples that Elijah has already come, listen, "But I say unto you,
That Elias is come already". BINGO, for all those who are still waiting for Elijah to come, you'll be waiting for a very, very long, time. the Lord Jesus cannot lie, so the Elijah to come had, and have come already. and his dosciple figured it out, listen, "Then the disciples understood that he spake unto them of John the Baptist”. that right there should close the case. but let the Lord, the Holy Ghost teach us.
Question, how did John come as Elijah? Let the scripture speak, Luke 1:17 "And he shall go before him
in the spirit and power of Elias,
to turn the hearts of the fathers to the children, and the disobedient to the wisdom of the just; to make ready a people prepared for the Lord”. in the spirit is the ways,
or character of Elijah. For John wore a hairy coat, and ate honey and locusts. Matthew 3:4 "And the same John had his raiment of camel's hair, and a leathern girdle about his loins; and his meat was locusts and wild honey”. so John was the forerunner to the Lord Jesus as the prophet Elijah, scripture, Malachi 4:5 & 6 "Behold, I will send you Elijah the prophet before the coming of the great and dreadful day of the LORD:
And he shall turn the heart of the fathers to the children, and the heart of the children to their fathers, lest I come and smite the earth with a curse”. now once again Luke 1:17 "And he shall go before him in the spirit and power of Elias,
to turn the hearts of the fathers to the children, and the disobedient to the wisdom of the just; to make ready a people prepared for the Lord”. these are identical verses. "
to turn the heart of the fathers to the children, and the heart of the children to their fathers", Without a doubt the prophet John is the Elijah to come. Just a couple more scriptures to put the icing on the cake. Mark 1:2 "As it is written in the prophets, Behold, I send my messenger before thy face, which shall prepare thy way before thee”. we know that it is the prophet Elijah, who is John the Baptist, but where in the scriptures is this written? Answer, Malachi 3:1 "Behold, I will send my messenger, and
he shall prepare the way before me: and the Lord, whom ye seek, shall suddenly come to his temple, even the messenger of the covenant, whom ye delight in: behold, he shall come, saith the LORD of hosts”. by now one must began to learn who the witness is?, John the baptist. but one more please, Matt 3:3 "For this is he that was spoken of by the prophet Esaias, saying,
The voice of one crying in the wilderness, Prepare ye the way of the Lord, make his paths straight". where was this said?
Isa 40:3 "The voice of him that crieth in the wilderness,
Prepare ye the way of the LORD, make straight in the desert a highway for
our God". now Malachi 3:1 "Behold, I will send my messenger,
and he shall prepare the way before me". how clear can one get. for me I believe the word of God, it's case close for me.
PS side note, Isa 40:3 "The voice of him that crieth in the wilderness, Prepare ye
the way of the LORD, make straight in the desert a highway
for our God". did anyone pick that up? Isaiah said, it is the "LORD", "our God" who is coming. and that's "LORD" with all caps, indicading the Father, the LORD "who
made all things", per Isaiah 44:24. the sameone who is the word, in John 1:3 who "
made all thing", the one who many call the Son, the same person, only diversified........
compare both of those two scriptures. Isaiah 44:24, and John 1:3.
