thanks for the reply, but we don't agree with that assessment. and here's why. we're still in the flesh bodies and the flesh lust againist our spirits. we are in a fight. and two, 1 John 1:8 "If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us." why? because our Lord Jesus condemed sin in the flesh, and our fleshly bodies are not yet redeemed, only until he come and change these vile thing, (bodies), that we live in.
so if you thing that you're without sin you better read Romans 6:12 "Let not sin therefore reign in your mortal body, that ye should obey it in the lusts thereof."
Romans 6:13 "Neither yield ye your members as instruments of unrighteousness unto sin: but yield yourselves unto God, as those that are alive from the dead, and your members as instruments of righteousness unto God."
well if you're sin free, well good for you, but don't deceive yourself ok. so you have never lied since you came to Christ right? don't answer that I don't want you to get in trouble... (smile).
but this is why we have this clause in the contract and have a mediator, 1 John 2:1 "My little children, these things write I unto you, that ye sin not. And if any man sin, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous:"
the point in born again is not to sin, but, but, but, if you do we have an advocate. and we can confess our sins, 1 John 1:9 "If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness."
thank God for the NEW CONTRACT.
PICJAG.
What you don't realize is how many times we repent in order to receive the Holy Spirit that
frees us from sin!
Acts of the Apostles 2:38
38 Then Peter said to them, “Repent, and let every one of you be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins; and you shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.
How many?
ONCE.
8 If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and there is no truth in us. 9 But if we confess our sins to God, he will keep his promise and do what is right: he will forgive us our sins and purify us from
all our wrongdoing.
That is how an unsaved person who has never repented and accepted Christ, but may be a Jew that keeps the Law, becomes a Christian.
Then:
1 John 3:4-9
4 Whoever commits sin also commits lawlessness, and sin is lawlessness. 5
And you know that He was manifested to take away our sins, and in Him there is no sin. 6 Whoever abides in Him does not sin. Whoever sins has neither seen Him nor known Him. 7 Little children, let no one deceive you. He who practices righteousness is righteous, just as He is righteous. 8 He who sins is of the devil, for the devil has sinned from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that He might destroy the works of the devil. 9
Whoever has been born of God does not sin, for His seed remains in him; and he cannot sin, because he has been born of God.
Can you see how the Word of God contradicts your belief about 1 John 1:8? It is the same thing as Paul writing of mankind (before repentance unto Christ) 23 for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.
I know I've shown this to you before. I'm trying to explain it a different way until you understand.
This is just the first lesson regarding sin. You also mentioned 1 John 2:1, but did you see the first part? It IS possible to not sin. So saying you do not have sin is NOT a lie. 1 John 3:5. Not if you are abiding in Christ and are not in the flesh but in the Spirit Romans 8:9.
Notice 1 John 3:4 sin is lawlessness. John is talking about sins unto death 1 John 5:16-17. Those are willful sins against the Law, the 10 Commandments that mankind is under until we are filled with the Spirit of Christ.
The sins that 1 John 2:1 is talking about that Jesus is our Advocate are the sins NOT unto death. He is not our Advocate for murder, lying, stealing, adultery or anything in Galatians 5:19-21.
This second lesson is this: Sins not unto death are trespasses against each other, not the laws of God. Hurting each others feelings unintentionally. It happens. Leviticus 5:15. But when we forgive each other, then Jesus as our Advocate does what is promised in Matthew 6:14-15. But if we don't forgive, then neither can Jesus be our Advocate.
I stand by 1 John 3:21-24. Keep the commandments of Jesus to believe on Him AND love each other. Do nothing against our own super-sensitized conscience that is full of the Holy Spirit, so always go to bed with a clear conscience, and think about if you need to forgive any brother or sister in the Lord, and plan to reconcile.
