If that is the case, as a BIG-TIME unapologetic OSAS Guy......I am a Christian..... a “ Christian” is anybody that has “ Christ IN
them”.......and Christ is formed in one’s Heart by Faith.....
I am a OSAS Guy simply because Jesus was.....Jesus said that if we put our Faith in Him, we are ALREADY SAVED and shall NEVER come under Condemnation.....for the “ dim- bulbs in the Crowd—- NEVER means NEVER......
Nobody yet has even tried to argue about that verse...it is Iron - Clad....it can’t be debated by any Sane person....especially somebody with the Holy Spirit in them....
John 5:24 (kjv) applies to those who have a heart faith that is unto righteousness (Romans 10:10) and enduring to the end (Matthew 10:22, Hebrews 3:6, Hebrews 3:14).
Those who have a nominal, shallow, or lukewarm faith (mere mental assent to the tenets of the gospel) can fall away (Luke 8:13) or be "cut off" (Romans 11:20-22) in time of temptation; if they continue not in God's goodness.
I know that there are some who take promises of scripture like John 5:24 (kjv) as applying to them when in all reality it does not apply to them.
A companion passage that also teaches eternal security is John 10:27-30. Jesus' sheep hear His voice, and He knows them, and they follow Him.
This is the condition for being His sheep; and John 5:24 (kjv) is also a promise only to His sheep.
He knows His sheep...but He has never known those who work iniquity (Matthew 7:23).
So then, those who work iniquity are not His sheep...and therefore John 5:24 (kjv) doesn't apply to them as a promise.
God's “ goodness” is Doing His Will.....what would that “ WILL” be? “ To Believe in the One that He sent” ....
So, I guess that means that you don't subscribe to
@Behold's doctrine that you don't have to continue in the faith to be saved.
Let me say this...those who believe that Jesus is the Christ are born of God (1 John 5:1).
However, it should be clear that you are not born of God if you are living a lifestyle of sin (1 John 3:9).
And therefore, I conclude that, if God's goodness means walking by faith, as you have said,
@Blood Bought 1953, then continuing in God's goodness means not only continuing in faith but continuing in a walk of holiness.
