It was the site of the second Temple which was destroyed by the Roman Empire, I don't think the Muslims have the power to start WWIII, unless they get backing from Russia or China.

Israel trying to take the temple mount back will start World War III guaranteed, it's been under Muslim control for over 1400 years, and is their 2nd Holy Site and oldest structure

The Daniel 9 2300 days have not yet been fulfilled.

Dan 8:9-14
9 And out of one of them came forth a little horn, which waxed exceeding great, toward the south, and toward the east, and toward the pleasant land.
10 And it waxed great, even to the host of heaven; and it cast down some of the host and of the stars to the ground, and stamped upon them.
11 Yea, he magnified himself even to the prince of the host, and by him the daily sacrifice was taken away, and the place of his sanctuary was cast down.
12 And an host was given him against the daily sacrifice by reason of transgression, and it cast down the truth to the ground; and it practised, and prospered.

That "little horn" represents the "vile person" of Daniel 11 about his making a "league" and becoming strong with a "small people" (small group of traitors, leaders in Jerusalem at the end that support that final Antichrist - Dan.11:23). It's the "vile person" of Daniel 11 that we are told will end sacrifices and place the "abomination that maketh desolate" (Daniel 11:31). That is the "transgression" being spoken of.

13 Then I heard one saint speaking, and another saint said unto that certain saint which spake, How long shall be the vision concerning the daily sacrifice, and the transgression of desolation, to give both the sanctuary and the host to be trodden under foot?

That question is asking how long from the time of those daily sacrifices to that AOD and the temple and Jews in Jerusalem being trodden under foot (by the Gentiles per the Revelation 11 Scripture).

Thus the subject is how long from...

1. the daily sacrifice (to be setup sometime prior... to the "abomination of desolation" event.
2. and the AOD event
3. and the trodding down of Jerusalem by the Gentiles.

14 And he said unto me, Unto two thousand and three hundred days; then shall the sanctuary be cleansed.

If you believe the "abomination of desolation" Jesus proclaimed was not the historical event by Antiochus Epiphanes, then it means you agree it is for the very end of this world, like Jesus showed in Matthew 24 per the Signs of the end He gave there.

If you believe the 42 months the Gentiles are given to tread the sanctuary per Revelation 11 is about a final temple yet to be built in Jerusalem, that means the only way their treading will end is by the event of Lord Jesus' 2nd coming on the last day of this world. Only then... will the sanctuary be cleansed (actually Jesus, THE BRANCH, building His future temple at His return per Zechariah).

That means to place the END of that 2300 day period on the day of Jesus' future return on the "last day".

So count backwards from that last day, and we arrive at...

Daniel 9:24-27, Seventy Literal Weeks Explained "Future"?

Daniel's 70 weeks are literal 7 day periods, or 490 literal days.

If Daniel meant 490 years he would have written

Daniel had no restrictions in "Writing" exact numerology as seen below.

Below in Daniel 10:2-3 we see just another example of Daniel's literal weeks, as Daniel mourned and fasted for 3 literal weeks or 21 days.

Below in Daniel 9:24-27 we see 70 literal "Future" weeks or 490 days.

When the "Future" call/commandment goes out in Jerusalem to build unto the Jewish Meshiach/Messiah that they wait for (They Denied Jesus Christ) this will start the 7 week period in preparing to build.

62 literal weeks will be in building, and Meshiach/Messiah will be cut off by the armies surrounding Jerusalem, this stops the building.

The 70th literal week will see (The Antichrist) revealed in making a covenant, and in the middle of this literal week he proclaims to be Meshiach/Messiah God to the Jews, and Jesus returned to the apostate church, to start a Millennium on earth.

The 3.5 year tribulation starts at this time.

24 Seventy weeks are determined upon thy people and upon thy holy city, to finish the transgression, and to make an end of sins, and to make reconciliation for iniquity, and to bring in everlasting righteousness, and to seal up the vision and prophecy, and to anoint the most Holy.

Can you say, "U.N. control"? The Israelis took Jerusalem in the 1967 war, but general Dyan gave half of Jerusalem back to the Arabs (no doubt by U.N. pressuring).
