People have their own thoughts, and that is okay. I do believe that Gods will will prevail over man’s.

I don’t know either. But last night while going to sleep I thought of something. I’ve always wondered how can a spirit be burned or destroyed, thinking only flesh can be. Literally. As far to go out from this world by drowning or fire…neither sounds pleasant. But last night in regards to a spirit being destroyed …I started thinking about the spirit of the world, given not of God? (Makes you wonder about the proverb that the spirit returns to God who gave it) And all the verses concerning the spirit of fear unto bondage.

Ephesians 2:2 according to the spirit that now works in the children of disobedience.

Ephesians 6:12 spiritual wickedness in high places.

1 John 4:3 not every spirit is of God…test the spirits. …This is the spirit of the anti christ that is gone out into the world.

Revelation 16:14 spirits of devils

spirits of false prophets

1 John 4:6 spirits of error

A haughty spirit? Proverbs 16:17-19 The highway of the upright is to depart from evil: he that keeps his way preserves his soul. [18] Pride goeth before destruction, and an haughty spirit before a fall. [19] Better it is to be of an humble spirit with the lowly, than to divide the spoil with the proud.

Point is, I was wrong in thinking a spirit can’t be destroyed otherwise the spirit of the world, the spirit of disobedience, the spirit of wickedness in high place, an haughty spirit, the spirit of the anti christ, the spirit of false prophets and the spirit of error, the spirit of devils, the spirit of fear unto bondage again and the spirit of slumber …which all leads to death…if that spirit can’t be done away with then it all continues. What kind of Fire can do away with the spirit of the world which leads to death? Can a literal fire destroy and overcome the spirit of death and loss?

Interesting thoughts, something to ponder about. I know that my belief is Jesus Christ overcame everything.

including sin ?

How can Jesus have defeated satan like you say and he is bound up yet not defeated sin ?

You don't see the glaring contradiction since the same passage that talks about Jesus defeating satan says He also defeated sin and death.

Either all 3 are truth or none are true. You cannot pick 1/3 and make the others false.

hope this helps !!!

I do see your point and how you can say Jesus overcame everything. What you said about demons…I’m also skeptical when someone says they saw a demon. Literally.

but also I live daily with fear of what men can do and anxiety …yet I’m also reminded of God has not given us a spirit of fear and anxiety (worry) but the Spirit of love and of power and of a sound mind. But I sure do sometimes really struggle with anxiety and worry. I get what you are sharing in that when I’m anxious or fearful…it is hopeful to know He has…by and through the Spirit of love and of power and of a sound mind…overcome anxious worry which leads to bondage and death. It is pretty obvious in this world there is a spirit at work which makes us cry “God where are you?” It is hard to see how any good can come out of all this. My mom who is ninety was talking about this the other day. She said “I’m starting to think life isn’t worth living.” I can relate to her words. All I could think to tell her was how God refers to it as child birth. I asked her to think about how painful contractions are, how painful the labour pangs are …I remember saying “I will never go through that again” after my first…then I became pregnant with our second child. I told mom if God compares it to deliverance of life…then there has to be some good even when it is hard to see there could be any good that comes out of it.

.
Rev 21:8 . . But the cowardly, unbelieving, abominable, murderers,
sexually immoral, sorcerers, idolaters, and all liars shall have their part in
the lake which burns with fire and brimstone, which is the second death.

I gather from the passage above that the lake will take on the appearance of
an apple bobbing tub with all that dead meat floating around out there
because dishonesty and immorality account for a pretty large segment of the
world's population.

That is a gross summation. The interesting thing about that passage to me personally @Webers_Home is the "part", it is different than the Devil, False Prophet, and Beast in the previous chapter.

in the lake which burns with fire and brimstone, which is the second death.

Psalm 11:5-7 The Lord tries the righteous: but the wicked and him that loves violence his soul hates. [6] Upon the wicked he shall rain snares, fire and brimstone, and an horrible tempest: this shall be the portion of their cup. [7] For the righteous Lord loves righteousness; his countenance does behold the upright.

Psalm 11:6 Lexicon: Upon the wicked He will rain snares; Fire and brimstone and burning wind will be the portion of their cup.

what is burning wind? will be their portion (part) of their cup…which is the second death?

Habakkuk 2:12-16 Woe to him that builds a town with blood, and establishes a city by iniquity! [13] Behold, is it not of the Lord of hosts that the people shall labour in the very fire, and the people shall weary themselves for very vanity? [14] For the earth shall be filled with the knowledge of the glory of the Lord, as the waters cover the sea. [15] Woe unto him that gives his neighbour drink, that puts thy bottle to him, and makes him drunken also, that you may look on their nakedness! [16] Thou are filled with shame for glory: drink thou also, and let thy foreskin be uncovered: the cup of the Lord's right hand shall be turned unto thee, and shameful spewing shall be on your glory.
What is “drink you also, and let your foreskin be uncovered”? Colossians 2:11 In whom also you are circumcised with the circumcision made without hands, in putting off the body of the sins of the flesh by the circumcision of Christ:

What is “drink you also, and let your foreskin be uncovered”? Colossians 2:11 In whom also you are circumcised with the circumcision made without hands, in putting off the body of the sins of the flesh by the circumcision of Christ:

Habakkuk says a lot (Imo) first …that they shall weary themselves in the fire, for vanity. Yes? No? So what does that say of the lake of fire? How can one weary themselves in the lake of fire for vanity? How? How? How? If it is a literal fire all that is false is thrown into to be burned?

Second (just an opinion) but how much His word describes to a tee what we tend to do to our neighbor …our being drunk wanting to turn to our neighbor and get him to be drunk also…so we can glory in his nakedness. Don’t we do that for vanity to level that person so we can glory in their shame for the sake of pride? Not only do we want to be drunk on our own self-righteousness, we desire our neighbors to also climb on board to multiply fingers pointing out “Ha, look at that persons nakedness! My neighbor! Let us uncover his nakedness so we can look on his shame.” (Desire no ill will towards your neighbor?).
Isaiah 58:9 what I think I hear God saying is He will turn around and give us to drink also. I get this was to the first century Jew but is there no principle or teaching in there for what we do to others to cover up ourselves? Yet that passage says “let your foreskin be uncovered” be Circumcised …is He speaking of the circumcision of the heart? Love your neighbor as you love yourself? What is “foreskin”? Where is that in getting our neighbor drunk and naked, not literally but Spiritually broke?
