The rapture will occur when believers are gathered to meet Jesus. Both Matthew 24:29-31 and the parallel passage of Mark 13:24-27 reference the gathering of the elect when Jesus comes. The elect refer to believers in the church (Romans 8:31-34). So, what other gathering of believers can that refer to except for the one that will occur when Jesus comes, as also written about in verses like 1 Thessalonians 4:14-17 and 2 Thessalonians 2:1?
24But in those days, after that tribulation:
‘The sun will be darkened,
and the moon will not give its light;
25the stars will fall from the sky,
and the powers of the heavens will be shaken.
Your theology says at that time...Jesus comes back. I agree. This is the Rev 19:11 return.
But, there's one little detail you guy forget about.
Acts 1:9 After He had said this, they watched as He was taken up, and a cloud hid Him from their sight.
10 They were looking intently into the sky as He was going, when suddenly two men dressed in white stood beside them.
11 “Men of Galilee,” they said, “why do you stand here looking into the sky?
This same Jesus, who has been taken from you into heaven, will come back in the same way you have seen Him go into heaven.”
Jesus didn't leave under conditions when the sun was darkened...when the moon didn't give its light...when stars were falling from heaven...while the powers of heaven were shaking.....When you add to it Rev 19:11 and the return of Jesus on a white horse...and the understanding that Jesus didn't leave on a white horse it should be pretty clear that 1 Thes 4:16 is a DIFFERENT EVENT.
It refers to a gathering of believers when Jesus comes just as 1 Thessalonians 4:14-17. They refer to the same gathering of believers that will occur when Jesus comes. Very simple.
I agree. When 2 Thes 2:1 speaks of the "gathering" it is speaking of the rapture mentioned in 1 Thes 4:16.
Scripture does not speak of "social economical conditions" relating to when Jesus comes, so you're just making that up. What scripture teaches is that people will be spiritually oblivious to what's going on and to the fact that God is angry with them and they will not see it coming when His wrath comes down on them when Jesus returns unexpectedly as a thief in the night. In no way, shape or form does that support the imaginary pre-trib rapture theory.
You said..."Scripture does not speak of "social economical conditions" relating to when Jesus comes"
What is this?
38 For as in those days before the flood they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage...added too in Luke 17:28 they did eat, they drank, they bought, they sold, they planted, they builded;....How is that not a description of "social economical conditions"??????
Why do you think the social economical conditions mentioned above is the way it will be at the end of the tribulation?
It does not say He will take us to heaven. He will bring heaven to us. Otherwise, what is the point of us meeting Him "in the air"? Why not just meet Him in heaven instead if He was going to turn around and go back there?
John 14 answers that question.
1“Do not let your hearts be troubled. You believe in God; believe in Me as well.
2 In My Father’s house are many rooms. If it were not so, would I have told you that I am going there to prepare a place for you?
3 And if I go and prepare a place for you,
I will come back and welcome you into My presence, so that you also may be where I am.
4 You know the way to the place where I am going.”...........Jesus said "I'll be back" long before
Arnold did.
What do you think Jesus is talking about here?
