I am a typical one in each ear.
I have many sets of gold earring...but I am lazy and don't bother to change them much. :D

I don't mind them on men...especially on dark skin , when they have one big diamond. My own diamond earring are quite small ones. :(
So have any of the men in your family gotten it? :)

I guess you're not remotely surprised when today's young men too have the urge to pierce their ears.
I don't know it the gay/straight symbolism has changed, but I have little contact with the "piercing" crowd these days.

I was simply thinking that you must be able to empathize with the urge that young men as well as young women have to pierce their ear(s), like you did.
Back then I was trying to put myself on people's radar. Now I try to stay off of their radar.:)

Well, okay; this was your experience. I guess these days it's so widespread that it's a normal development to have them done, for a lot of young men as well as young women.

I'm approaching geezerhood and my social aspirations have changed. Now I sing;

"I wish that I knew what I know now
When I was younger.
I wish that I knew what I know now
When I was stronger."

@charity Seeing as ear piercing is referring to in some apparently positive contexts in the Bible, this former conclusion which you referred to would probably be viewed as rather far fetched today, don't you think?

Hi @farouk,

If you have posted any references to ear piercing I have missed them, I'm afraid. Would you mind giving them again, so that I can refer to them. I don't think my former words were particularly 'far fetched' for today, no: for the believer is set apart to God, and I believe that his appearance should reflect that.

Thank you.

Hello @farouk,

When I was young, in my early Christian experience, ear piercing was not viewed very favourably I remember: in fact any adornment was to be modest, and facial make-up was gilding the lilly and painting the rose. Ear piercing and tattooing was viewed as marring the body that God created.

I think this - 2md quote, above - is the post that may have prompted my previous comment.

In the Bible anyway there is the whole bondservant ear piercing aspect, done by both genders.

Hello again, @farouk,

The bond-servant ear piercing is something quite different though isn't it? It was not for adornment, but as a mark of servitude.
