No, those who have oil in there lamps are those who spent time with Christ, He is the bread of life, and when we eat (learn) from Him we get life and it fills us, something you cannot get from religion learning studying.as I believe those with oil in their lamps are those who operate in the gifts
Once while fasting and praying decades ago God said "you're going to see some hard things". I broke and wept for a long time. I knew it was the Lord.
I never told a soul but I saw in a dream our daughter being swept away in a flood and I could not reach her. She was killed at 15 in an automobile accident.
God may call this one and that one to a prophetic ministry. But it will be a ministry of weeping and prayers not of laughing. It is a sobering thing to hear from God on matters of the lives of men.
He is the bread of life, and when we eat (learn) from Him we get life and it fills us...
But so few are willing to give Him the time
Amen!No dreams about Trump but I believe the Lord elected Trump as a slow down of America's slide downhill.
It took me decades to begin to see God as a kind father. My own father was harsh and demanding and critical of nearly all I did. I saw Jesus as my friend but God the Father as a fearful God that was yet awaiting my failures. When I erred I always expected a blow but He forgave me knowing my heart was toward Him. Despite seeing miracles in our life I still was shy of God the Father.
Thanks be for His insight, wisdom, patience, love and grace. After forty years I now really call God my heavenly father.
I believe my condition is common and many Christians shrink from Him rather than turn to Him. If they will continue with Him they will see Him as He is.
Relationships I realized take time. Even the one you have with God. Time for us to get to know Him for He already knows us. He is patient looking on your willing heart. Praises be I can see the love and infinitely patient grace He has extended to me.
We start off as a servant when we are born again and are fillled with His Holy Spirit. But God realizes;
Proverbs 29:21 KJVS
He that delicately bringeth up his servant from a child shall have him become his son at the length.
Thanks be to God for His unspeakable gift.

I received the gift of speaking in other tongues at 18 years old, its the same today 40 years later. Some firmly believe that there are spiritual benefits to praying in tongues.
1.) Praying in tongues gives us a direct and unimpeded communication between our human spirit and the Spirit of God (1 Corinthians 14:2a).
2.) Praying in tongues brings the secrets of God's Spirit into our spirit (1 Corinthians 14:2b).
3.) When we pray in tongues, we cultivate and increase our spiritual strength (I Corinthians 14:4a).
4.) Praying in tongues tends to help us enter into the spiritual place wherein the Spirit can speak through us prophetically to others (I Corinthians 14:5).
5.) Praying in tongues leads us to desire interpretation (I Corinthians 14:13).
6.) Tongues releases us to a higher forms of spiritual worship (I Corinthians 14:15).
Have you experienced any of these things?
What are some of your experiences in the Spirit while praying in tongues?
however I believe the gift is in misuse today, just as it was in Corinth.
Interesting.
How so????
I have personally been in pentecostal churches rolling in the isles, complete chaos, tongues with no interpretation.Interesting.

...many believe the gift died out with the Apostle?
100% a false claim, however I believe the gift is in misuse today, just as it was in Corinth.

I have been in pentecostal churches since 1980.
Never ever saw anyone rolling in the isles.
I been saved since 1976, and went to a AOG, I now go to non-denom, now that you mention it the AOG did speak in tongues, a little bit more orderly, now it's non existant, I agree! My personal take is that even in the pentecostal denominations founded on the baptism in the Holy Spirt there has been a trend away from tongues in the last three decades especially. In this context, misuse almost seems better than no use at all, LoL. But I do understand, and it's sad. The picture you described sounds kind of like what happens in churches where they attempt to "work up" the gifts, and what you instead get is a lot of emotionalism and hype. With Paul's admonition I think he was trying to accomplish just the opposite: Tone down the real thing, so that the focus returned to mental edification of the body. You see the same thing in his admonition that prophets cease prophesying if a member who was gifted in revelation received something regarding what was being uttered (1 Corinthians 14:30-31). Revelation and interpretation are mental gifts, and the shortage of believers on this particular end of things is also a big part of the problem.
Well that's a good report. :)
Out of genuine curiosity, how well did the churches you were in abide by the command not to speak in tongues if there were no interpreter, or have the prophets only speak two or three? My experience in churches has been to witness only little dribs and drabs here and there, but then you're somewhat older, and I remember when I first got saved (1985) things were a lot different back then, even in the AoG churches. I took it for granted; it seemed to quickly disappear after that.
