As some people might already know, most Americans these days seem to be increasingly polarized and divided over politics - and it seems that there is a growing discontented population of Americans whose ideas and beliefs do not quite fit neatly with either mainstream party. Some people, or so I've heard, even refused to vote altogether the last several elections because they felt neither candidate properly represented them.

In fact, according to this 2021 poll, 62% of Americans, including even a majority of Republicans, believe that a third party is desperately needed:
Support for Third U.S. Political Party at High Point

For example, both older and younger Americans have found the Libertarian Party's ideas very interesting in recent years.

And the general public's views over the two mainstream parties seem increasingly split also:

And some people from BOTH parties, both Democrats and Republicans, have also argued that the Electoral College no longer serves America's political reality, that perhaps a more "direct" form of democracy, more connected with the people, is necessary. Scripture obviously does not give us any clear direction regarding these kinds of complicated issues in the modern world - therefore, Christians should best use our intuition and discernment.

Do you think that the two-party system and the Electoral College should perhaps be reformed, now or in the future?

The voting system being changed to something like a single transferable vote would be preferred so that we could get more third parties involved. I am not sure how this would work with the Electoral College but if we needed to get rid of that to get out of this two-party system I absolutely would do it. The problem is doing this requires voting reform and I am not sure that either party is ever going to want to give up their stranglehold on everything in this nation.

(Simple STV explanation, to me it is self-evidently a more fair system.)

I agree. To be honest, lots of people, especially younger people, did not even want to vote last election, politics has become so sensitive and complicated, everything feels like a huge and increasingly tangled mess, which I mentioned earlier. If I may ask, do you also feel politically disillusioned at times? Like you feel politicians from both parties have done wrong and made serious mistakes, and you are no longer always sure about which side is necessarily better, for example?

Hi. Interesting topic... In Australia there are more than 2 parties but its always the 2 two biggest parties that seem to poll the most votes

Which party is more popular these days? Which issue do they disagree about, abortion or anything like that? Does your nation have universal health care?

The right wing party is in power
They don't have many disagreements these days cos they've all sold out
Im not sure what you mean by universal health care

The Bible actually does give advice in this situation when it says "come out from Babylon", but it's not something religious voters like to hear because they believe it's their duty to fix a world that isn't being ruled by God. America can adjust or abolish the Electoral College, add more political parties to the equation, or even eliminate a party from the equation, but we'll keep getting the same results because the foundation of all human politics lies in people putting their own reasoning in the place of God's revealed word.

Germany and other European governments already have more than 2 parties, but they're experiencing the same societal and political problems America is with just 2: lack of unity, greed, strife, vainglory, corruption, frustrated and disillusioned voters, lack of equality, widespread lying, government overreach, lack of justice, lack of trust or faith in the government, etc. Conversely, places like China and Russia have very similar issues because they are ran by only 1 party. It's actually sad that as a species we don't realize how insane we are for thinking we will magically find the ever elusive system that will produce the results we want after 6 millennia of allowing everybody else to rule us but God.

Some Christians don't know their Bible. This world is NEVER going to be redeemed; it's going to be DESTROYED. We need to work on saving souls and not worry so much about this corrupt world.

Most people don't know about the reason for the electoral college.

The elimination of the electoral college puts the destiny of the entire United States in the hands of four to five large cities. All left wing socialists.

The United States is not a Democracy .....I know that is the insane battle cry of the leftists in this country .We are Republic ...... This means the dumbing down of America is working well. Follow any example of comments from the streets. People laugh and snicker at the answers made to Jessie Waters, Johnny Carson, Jay Leno? But in reality is the majority of viewers as dumb as the ones on camera?

For most Christians ......the Bible is nothing more than a "Show Piece" Pick it up from the table to be carried with the family while walking into Church. Return home .....locate the void in the dust on the table and carefuly place the Bible in the void ....to cover the fact the table has not been dusted in ages ....

Got an amendment up your sleeve to abolish the Electoral College? Looking to turn the entire system over to NYC, Chicago and LA?

This American is ok with eliminating the electoral college, as long as states that want to LEAVE the union are permitted to do so.

As a Floridian I would be ELATED if Florida could be its own country and escape the clutches of the Washingon establishment.

On second thought. I will not vote for DeSantis until he divorces himself from clutches of Jeb Bush, Karl Rove , and Rick Wilson ......the creator of The Lincoln Project.

The most vile despicable human being on the planet. His family is not far behind.

I officiated football for 25years.....He knows far more four letter words than I ever heard ....
