In Genesis 1:26 we read: “God said, Let us make man in our image.” Who are referred to here by the words us and our?

The words “God said” prove that the Father only is the Speaker. Obviously He spoke thus to His “only begotten Son,” the Logos, the precarnate Lord Jesus (Psa. 89:27; Prov. 8:22; John 1:1; 3:16; Col. 1:15; Heb. 1:5; Rev. 3:14). Jesus existed “before the world was” (John 17:5; 1:1, 2). He acted as God’s Agent in the creation of all things (John 1:3; 1 Cor. 8:6; Col. 1:16, 17).

Whether the angels who co-operated in the creative works under the Logos (Job 38:4-7) are also included in this term “us” cannot be positively determined from this passage or from other Scriptures. But at least the Father and the Son are included. The relation of the Two in creation is as follows: The Father was the Architect of the creative plans and the Supplier of the materials for creation, while the Son was the Contractor who took the plans and material and with the assistance of the angelic hosts worked them up into the finished product under the direction of the great Architect of the universe.

And here I thought God . . . The Word . . . spoke everything into existence, with the exception of man.

Much love!

the angels who co-operated in the creative works under the Logos (Job 38:4-7)

Job 38:4-7 KJV
4) Where wast thou when I laid the foundations of the earth? declare, if thou hast understanding.
5) Who hath laid the measures thereof, if thou knowest? or who hath stretched the line upon it?
6) Whereupon are the foundations thereof fastened? or who laid the corner stone thereof;
7) When the morning stars sang together, and all the sons of God shouted for joy?

Co-operated in the creative works? Where do you see that?

For one thing, there is nothing in the Bible to indicate angels in existance prior to the second day of creation. And this passage shows the sons of God shouting for joy, not co- operating with Jesus in creation.

Jesus created everything that was created. Plain and simple.

The Father was the Architect of the creative plans and the Supplier of the materials for creation, while the Son was the Contractor who took the plans and material and with the assistance of the angelic hosts worked them up into the finished product under the direction of the great Architect of the universe.

Supplier of materials? So then you don't think Jesus created everything.

OK.

Much love!

It is amazing how much some can get out of “us” and “our.” They are plural but can apply to anywhere from 2 on up indefinitely. They also say nothing about the relationship of those multiple persons.

Couldn't have said it better myself Be. Jesus is called the master craftsman in Pro 8:30, although the Bible like you stated did not mention the other angels in assisting, me personally I believe they did, no one lazy in Jehovah's organization, we all have our assignments.

Great explanation and I agree!
