If a believer is repenting, its because they are sinning.
If you are sinning, then repenting is not helping you for how many years now,?
So, you need to resolve the sinning issue, vs wasting your time confessing and repenting, and then off you go to sin again, then start over with the sinning and repenting.
Here is how to stop sinning.
You have to move from the wrong mind, into the right mind, and stay there.
ITs really that simple.
Listen, you can't stop on your own.
And in fact its trying to stop that causes more sinning.
See, thats the thing about the Spiritual realm.....its that the rules are different then how WE think it should work out, naturally.
The way we want it to be, is...."i try harder not to sin, next time".
And that causes you to sin again.
Most believers are stuck right there....and stay there for life.
"but Behold, we are to strive against sin".
YES....but not in our flesh, and not by our own will, as the means.
The striving we are to do, is spiritual.
We are fighting darkness, and you fight that with LIGHT.....not with self effort.
So, how do you strive against sin in the Spirit realm?
= You learn to REST in God's Grace.
What is an example of the wrong mind?
Its a Christian who is serving God to try to get rest for their conscience from sinning.
Its a believer who feels condemned, even tho they have confessed...and this is no longer working for them.. Its no longer soothing that guilt.
That confession pain med is useless now...so, they reach for something else. They improvise. They started doing more "god stuff" to try to mentally balance out the wrong they are doing, even if they have stopped, for the most part.
That does not work, because it can't.
Saint, confessing and repenting does not make God feel better about you....it only makes you fell better till the next time you sin.
See, God is always at peace with you, no matter what you do.
Why? Because the Blood of Jesus is the final answer.
""""Where your sin abounds= God's Grace (the blood of Jesus) more abounds."""
Here is a FYI........memo from Heaven.
The Blood of Jesus forgave your tomorrow's sin, 2000 yrs ago.
Think on that till you see that Light.
Listen... the wrong mind is......you trying to do it.
Thats the failure of Christians, worldwide.
Jesus said...>"apart from me, you can do nothing".
And that means,... if you try to do it, then that is apart from me.
Most Christians are lost in that.... and that is why they sin and confess and can't stop.
So, what is the Right Mind. ?
The right mind is to believe God when He told you that you are "in the world but not of it".
Read that again... "you are IN the world, but not OF it".
The mind of the world, .. you are not OF IT.
The way of the world... you are not OF IT.
So, when you try to live out your Christianity as the natural worldly mind would do it, then you are now the "OF IT"....that is to be like the world would do it.
Listen, the religious but lost, are currently working their way to hell.
The Religious but lost, are doing the works, living the life, and all this is of SELF Righteousness, and that is the "OF the WORLD" method... to try to be 'like God", or Like Jesus.
Saint, the reason that Jesus is in you, is many, but one them is so that He can live through you what HE requires of you.
This is why He told you, "apart from Me".... So, to be born again, is to be ONE with Him.
But when it comes to the holy lifestyle, then Jesus has to provide you the power to do it.
= "apart from me, you can do ......nothing".....and that certainly means you can't stop sinning apart from Jesus resolving that situation.
Not YOU.
You try, and that is why you confess and keep sinning.
So, what do we call Jesus living through us,.... what do we call His Righteousness as ours?
We call that the Grace of God.
When God says for us to be holy, and then Christ empowers us to do it while we REST from our own self effort that failed for years to live holy.....what do we call that?
We call that God's Grace.
Saint....If you want to stop sinning, then you have to find your place of REST in God's Grace.
To find that place, is to change your mind from "i can do it", "i will do it", "i am trying to do it"...to "Christ who is in me, will do it for me, through me, and i will always = REST in this GRACE of GOD".
Here is the mind you have to have, to exist in that place of Grace.
1.) Recognize that you can't lose your salvation = because God is keeping if for you, based on supplying it to you through the Blood of Jesus.
2.) Stop trying to resist sin by striving not to sin, as this empowers the dominion of the law to cause your sin consciousness to become inflamed to want to sin more... "the power of sin is the law".
You are not under the law, you are "under Grace" but you have to exist there in your BELIEF and Understanding.
3.) Come to the revelation that you are not a sinner, but you are "ONE with God and Christ"... that you are "in Christ", and that this is because the real you is the born again "New Creation", and not the old man of the flesh that has its lusts.
4.) Recognize that God is always at Peace with you, based on the Blood of Jesus, and in this knowledge, rest there, and in this resting in God's Grace, you'll find deliverance from all that is causing you to sin.
Listen....There is power in the Blood Atonement, that is not freeing you, because you are trying to do for yourself, by self effort, what the Blood of Jesus has already accomplished for you, as "the finished work of Jesus on the Cross".
Saints...We do not stop sinning by striving to stop....We stop because we "are not a sinner" we are a "SAINT".."One with GOD"..., and so by RESTING in God's Grace = we are freed from the Law's power of dominion to cause us to want to sin.
Those Scriptures were not about getting victory. They were refuting the false teaching of Behold. He claimed that Christians are not exhorted to stop sinning, or to resist sin, which is contrary to the Word.
It is my understanding that when one is born again, it is not of perishable seed (1 Peter !:23).
I believe this is speaking of the rebirth of one's spirit.
Since it cannot perish, it cannot sin.
Therefore, my sin originates somewhere else.
Alright, but wait. The context specifically states. "Be not carried away by divers and strange teachings: for it is good that the heart be established by grace; not by meats, wherein they that occupied themselves were not profited."
You can only stop, resist, get victory over sin by knowing that they have been borne in His own body on the tree, faith is knowing this fact.
When you struggle against sin you are not believing that Jesus has already done it.
You would better be employed in overflowing thanks and gratitude and praise to Him for what He has done and telling others [which is your confession]
You can start this right away, even while you are yet in your besetting sins and keep doing it until it comes to pass in your life.
God watches over His word to perform it.
first thanks for the reply, second, since you used the Follow Paul because he follow Christ... well now, didn't Paul sin, by letting the sun go down on his anger,

Really though? Why is it then that Christians react so negatively when asked to consider God's commandments? After all, John says, "sin is transgression against the law". The response is varied, from "the law no longer applies...we are not under the law" to "You can't earn your way to heaven", or that old favourite, "I just obey the NT commandments, 'to love'". Then of course there's that popular one, "there's only nine commandments we need to obey, God threw away the fourth", and let's not forget "The Jerusalem council only asked Gentiles to not be idolators, fornicate, and abstain from road kill".
Any and all excuses not to actually meditate or seriously consider the fact that disobeying any one commandment is sin. And you can't pick and choose, saying, "God knows we are dust and winks at the odd petty theft or admiring look at that girl, etc etc." Then of course there's that ludicrous extreme of using 1 John 3:9 to excuse sin by believing John is saying its impossible for a Christian to sin, therefore when you do sneak that gaze at your sunbaking neighbor, or get unreasonably angry at the motorist who cuts you off flipping him an unsavory response, and muttering under your breath at what an idiot he is, you are saying to yourself, that cannot be sin because I can't sin, therefore God Himself must be overlooking it and doesn't care because it isn't sin for the Christian to transgress the law any more because the law was nailed to the cross blah blah blah.
A friend once told me he heard a preacher from the pulpit saying he could go outside onto the street and spray the pedestrians with machine gun fire, and still go to heaven.
I think our concept of what constitutes sin and what constitutes the consequences of sin needs to be evaluated afresh with the church. I don't think every Christian knows they're not to be sinning at all...particularly when told by so many that's it's impossible to stop...the other extreme to "cannot sin"
Is this like OSAS ?
When I came to Christ I was dead, spirit and soul. I was born again instantly in my spirit and I am receiving the goal of my faith, the salvation of my soul. Peace, brother. You are closing in, ..so, keep going.
Its like this Truman Ron.
If you are born again, then that part of you, is the REAL You.
Not you body, and not your 'flesh" or "old man"..
So, the real you, IS the "incorruptible".... as that is the BORN AGAIN.....REAL YOU.
The REAL YOU< is born again INTO the Spirit of God, by the Spirit of God... and that REAL YOU< is now "ONE WITH GOD< and CHRIST".
That's the real you.
Now, bring your mind into this recognition, and that is to BELIEVE RIGHT.
Once you are in this RENEWED MIND< that understands and discernes who you have become, "in Christ", then you have discovered God's Grace.
first thanks for the reply, I have no opinion.Of course, this is your opinion. lol Bless you, brother, and of course, the other!
His dominion is an eternal dominion...He does what He wants, He doesn't ask our opinion! :)
ARE you sure?, lets see if this is true.No he didnt.
Notice also that Paul didn't repent and confess.
Did you miss that part? I think you did.
So...
Why is it that Paul didn't repent and confess?
Because Christ has all of Paul's sin, and Paul has all of Christ's righteousness.
Later, Paul allowed JMark to be a part of his ministry.
The NT does not tell us if Barnabas ever got it back together
All are in Heaven.
Amen! You can only stop, resist, get victory over sin by knowing that they have been borne in His own body on the tree, faith is knowing this fact.

God watches over His word to perform it.
And no matter what our state or behavior or whether we've yielded to sin or are in the midst of sin, this does not change the truth of Scripture, that just like Jesus died to sin once, and now lives unto God, so you likewise reckon yourself dead to sin, and alive unto God in Jesus Christ our Lord.It is hard to approach the throne of grace at the very moment of temptation...there is an intense battle right there. We need to be straight up with ourselves and decide, what is it that I want here. To sin, or walk in righteousness. God has promised the strength I need to get through this, but do I really want to? The better time to answer such a challenge is well before the temptation comes...the morning before ,committing our life to our Savior's care for the day, asking of Him then for whatever strength we need to overcome all the fleshly lusts and temptations. So much easier to choose when the pressure isn't so "heated".
Good post, you're on the right road. sin is habitual, meaning it's a habit. in order to stop a habit, "DON'T FEED IT". just as with the Devil, give him no place... the same with a habit. DON'T GIVE IT ANYTHING. especially your time, for an idle mind is the devil workshop.Amen!
I find two distinctly different ways I that I oppose sin.
One of them is to determine to be more self-controlled, and to determine to not sin. To watch for temptations, and when they come, find ways to remove them, force myself to walk away from them, to "do the right thing" whether I want to or not. No matter how strong the feelings of need or risk or desire within me, that I know by the sick feeling inside are wrong, I want to be resolute against them, not let them control me. Go to prayer, go to the Word, remind myself of Scriptures, and that God empowers me, and choose to not commit that sin.
The other way is that I remember that God is here with Me, and how Much He loves me, and how He is my Helper, and did I say how much He loves me? He accepts me fully apart from my sins, He accepts me in Christ, my new creation, Christ in me. And I fall into His arms as it were in faith and love. And hope. The certain expectation that He will do all He has promised.
Our weapons are not carnal, but are mighty to the pulling down of strongholds. Not by the power of the will, but by the faith in the heart which believes in the forgiveness of sins in Christ to the point of not thinking otherwise.
To me, the first way is akin to building up my character, I feel that's never a bad thing! But it's not the same as walking in the Spirit, in which we simply do not do the works of the flesh.
I don't see that we are to "work" at walking in the Spirit, only that we remain trusting that we are in Christ.
BTW . . . did I ever say, Welcome to the forum!
Much love!
In all honesty . . . The fonts, the colors, the bulky paragraphs, all too much for my eyes. Simple styles without all the pizzaz, that's what works for me.maybe you might want to re-read this post for clarity.
