That the newspapers lie seems to be Trump’s default defense whenever he is faced with uncomfortable truths and I see you swallowed it hook line and sinker.
Of course it is a matter of personal opinion whether one thinks there are still conservatives with moral integrity (my prayers go out to John McCain). But other than that everything I’ve written in my post is demonstrably and objectively true: Trump did invest in beauty pageants and casinos and Melania is wife Nr. 3.
As for the point that seems to bother you most: maybe you just didn’t read it with care. Of course there are people who say Trump would be richer now had he just invested his Daddy’s money in index funds (
What's More Lucrative: "The Apprentice" or the S&P 500?) Even if Trump had released his tax returns I would not be in the position to say whether these people are right or wrong, because I’m neither an accountant nor an investment banker. And not being from that particular strain of Protestantism that seems to judge a person’s worth by the amount of money that person made I’m actually not that bothered by the question in the first place.
Contrary to what you may think I’m not a very political person, in that I’m not a member of any particular Party and do not intend to ever join one. But I do follow Karl Barth’s advice:
“Take your Bible and take your newspaper, and read both. But interpret newspapers from your Bible.” So when I read in the newspapers that Trump wants more immigrants from Norway and less from (expletive) countries in Africa I remember Bible passages such as James 2 and know what to make of this President. Not sure whether McCain had the same Biblical passage in mind but He arrived at similar conclusions;
