Where does the word say if we stop believing? The only place I see it is in 1 John, he said these people who stopped believing were never of us, if they were of us they would have stayed.

They were never saved, they never had eternal life. Eternal means forever. Never ending, it can not stop. If it does. It is not eternal
Why are you going to John 1 for the answer. We are only talking about John 6. REMEBER

No, I am not assuming I am flat out telling you that the disciples that stayed ALSO took him literally.

66 From that time many of His disciples went back and walked with Him no more. 67 Then Jesus said to the twelve, “Do you also want to go away?” 68 But Simon Peter answered Him, “Lord, to whom shall we go? You have the words of eternal life. 69 Also we have come to believe and know that You are the Christ, the Son of the living God.”
Your wearing me out mary

Where in this passage did ANY of the decsciples say they took him literally?

What did peter say?

YOU HAVE THE WORDS OF ETERNAL LIFE.

What did Jesus say was the real thing that gave life?

63 It is the Spirit who gives life; the flesh profits nothing. The words that I speak to you are spirit, and they are life

They took him literally in the fact it was his WORDS they need to gnaw and chew on. And that somehow through this they would Recieve eternal life.
WHY would Jesus say to the 12 Do you also want to go? He was asking them if they were going to turn their back on him also because it was a HARD SAYING. A hard saying means that he LITERALLY meant what he said. ALL PRESENT took his words "eat him" LITERALLY. The word he used TRAGO was LITERAL!

You are wearing me out...we have been thru this already.
You have to ignore what peter said to believe this

yes we have been through this already. And you’re proving once again WHY I can not believe the way you do. And WHY I opened this thread to make a point.

HUH....you are going to have to explain yourself better. This statement makes no sense.
Eternal means forever, never ending, without end

conditional means there are conditions applied

If I say you will never die and you have eternal life

then tell you there are condictions for you to keep, if you want to live forever and have eternal life

then I have contradicted myself. And I am not to be trusted.

Here you go again.

Again, Do not go to another passage to explain this..

He is not talking about literal bread here. he is talking about spiritual bread. The bread given from the spirit. Who gives life (eternal)
Peter is Satan!

23 Jesus turned and said to Peter, “Get behind me, Satan! You are a stumbling block to me; you do not have in mind the concerns of God, but merely human concerns.”

Do not go to another passage to explain this....

lol.

Why did you say stop believing, where in John 6 did he say we would only never die if we keep on believing. And if we stopped we would lose it.

I just answered your question and comment with the truth..

I have explained it a few times now

But as usually. You are hard of hearing. Unless you hear what YOU WANT TO HEAR. You will not listen.

Your proving my point

Where in John 6 does it say those that walked away took him literally?
Why did they walk away?

Did they think Jesus had the words of eternal life?

oh and by the way. They said so in the previous passage

52 The Jews therefore quarreled among themselves, saying, “How can this Man give us His flesh to eat?”

That PROVES they took him literally!!!

John 6 does not say when a person stops believing that He is the Messiah, and stops acting like a Christian that they would loose eternal life.

There....you win. John 6 doesn't say when you stop being a follower of Christ you won't have eternal life...... it so we can't talk about it :Zek:

YUP, that proves that they took him literally. Just like I said. But since we can only talk about the passage that YOU have brought up I couldn't bring that passage up as proof of what I was saying.

And don't play this game with me that I could have referenced that passage (vs52)

HERE IS A QUOTE FROM YOU: Where in this passage did ANY of the decsciples [sic] say they took him literally?

According to you EVERYONE hearing Jesus speak took him literally EXCEPT the 12 Apostles....AMAZING! That fits right into what YOU believe. It doesn't fit what Scripture actually says, but it fits into what YOU believe.

No

He said whoever comes to me will NEVER hunger and NEVER thirst

He said whoever comes to him will NEVER be cast out

He said whoever eats the bread and believes in him WILL NEVER die. And WILL be raised on the last day

he said whoever eats and drinks his flesh and blood HAS ETERNAL life, he WILL raise on the last day and they will LIVE FOREVER

After that he asked if it offended them, then said it is the spirit who gives life THE WORDS HE SPEAKS are spirit and life.

After this peter agreed. he said where would we go YOU HAVE THE WORDS OF ETERNAL LIFE. And we have come to know YOU ARE THE CHRIST..

Peter understood what would give him life.. It’s funny how the next time peter said these words. Jesus looked at him and called him peter. And said on THIS ROCK “these words” will his church be built.

He said whoever sees and believes will have eternal life and

They walked away because they took him LITERALLY because he was being LITERAL.
YOU believe the 12 DIDN'T take him literally even though there is NO passage in John 6 that says that. You are ASSUMING that because of what Peter said.

Other passages from Scripture show that they DID take Him literally.....but we can't talk about those passages....Can we? Any evidence that YOU ARE WRONG can't be discussed. That way YOU will always be RIGHT.

Nothing more to discuss here

Lol

Peter proved they did not take him literally

if they did, he said we will eat your flesh and blood. He did not. He said you have the words.. Which is exactly what Jesus said this food which endures forever is

He words will end or forever. They will never return back void. When he says it he means it

Question. You used the excuse if we stop believing we will lose eternal life and all the things jesus promised. If you continue to believe, why do you keep eating this food which endures forever for??

Why does that food not nourish you and keep you alive like Jesus said?

Ok, He asked THE 12

are you saying out of 5000 plus people. Only the 12 stayed?

what does that say about Christ?
I knew you wouldn't admit to being wrong. That's fine. I already baked that into our conversation.

I am not saying that. I am only repeating what Scripture says to prove you wrong.

It does nourish us, Spiritually.

When you do what Jesus tells you to do and believe him when he says it IS his body you stay alive SPIRITUALLY!

When you reject what Jesus tells you to do and don't believe what he says you Spiritually DIE!

Are you the former or the latter?
