What is the sound doctrine being described in Scripture ?

2 Timothy 4:1-4
I give you this charge: 2 Preach the Word; be prepared in season and out of season; correct, rebuke and encourage — with great patience and careful instruction. 3 For the time will come when men will not put up with sound doctrine. Instead, to suit their own desires, they will gather around them a great number of teachers to say what their itching ears want to hear. 4 They will turn their ears away from the truth and turn aside to myths.

Titus 1:9-11
He must hold firmly to the trustworthy message as it has been taught, so that he can encourage others by sound doctrine and refute those who oppose it.
10 For there are many rebellious people, mere talkers and deceivers, especially those of the circumcision group. 11 They must be silenced, because they are ruining whole households by teaching things they ought not to teach — and that for the sake of dishonest gain.

Titus 2
You must teach what is in accord with sound doctrine. 2 Teach the older men to be temperate, worthy of respect, self-controlled, and sound in faith, in love and in endurance.
3 Likewise, teach the older women to be reverent in the way they live, not to be slanderers or addicted to much wine, but to teach what is good. 4 Then they can train the younger women to love their husbands and children, 5 to be self-controlled and pure, to be busy at home, to be kind, and to be subject to their husbands, so that no one will malign the word of God.
6 Similarly, encourage the young men to be self-controlled. 7 In everything set them an example by doing what is good. In your teaching show integrity, seriousness 8 and soundness of speech that cannot be condemned, so that those who oppose you may be ashamed because they have nothing bad to say about us.
9 Teach slaves to be subject to their masters in everything, to try to please them, not to talk back to them, 10 and not to steal from them, but to show that they can be fully trusted, so that in every way they will make the teaching about God our Savior attractive.
11 For the grace of God that brings salvation has appeared to all men. 12 It teaches us to say "No" to ungodliness and worldly passions, and to live self-controlled, upright and godly lives in this present age, 13 while we wait for the blessed hope — the glorious appearing of our great God and Savior, Jesus Christ, 14 who gave himself for us to redeem us from all wickedness and to purify for himself a people that are his very own, eager to do what is good.
15 These, then, are the things you should teach. Encourage and rebuke with all authority. Do not let anyone despise you.

Titus 3
Remind the people to be subject to rulers and authorities, to be obedient, to be ready to do whatever is good, 2 to slander no one, to be peaceable and considerate, and to show true humility toward all men.
3 At one time we too were foolish, disobedient, deceived and enslaved by all kinds of passions and pleasures. We lived in malice and envy, being hated and hating one another. 4 But when the kindness and love of God our Savior appeared, 5 he saved us, not because of righteous things we had done, but because of his mercy. He saved us through the washing of rebirth and renewal by the Holy Spirit, 6 whom he poured out on us generously through Jesus Christ our Savior, 7 so that, having been justified by his grace, we might become heirs having the hope of eternal life. 8 This is a trustworthy saying. And I want you to stress these things, so that those who have trusted in God may be careful to devote themselves to doing what is good. These things are excellent and profitable for everyone.
9 But avoid foolish controversies and genealogies and arguments and quarrels about the law, because these are unprofitable and useless. 10 Warn a divisive person once, and then warn him a second time. After that, have nothing to do with him. 11 You may be sure that such a man is warped and sinful; he is self-condemned.
12 As soon as I send Artemas or Tychicus to you, do your best to come to me at Nicopolis, because I have decided to winter there. 13 Do everything you can to help Zenas the lawyer and Apollos on their way and see that they have everything they need. 14 Our people must learn to devote themselves to doing what is good, in order that they may provide for daily necessities and not live unproductive lives.

15 Everyone with me sends you greetings. Greet those who love us in the faith.

Grace be with you all.

hope this helps !!!

Sound doctrine points to a spiritual walk in Christ. There is so much teaching that limits the disciple of Christ these days. Whether it is liberal or conservative Christianity, the inner man is left weak, blind, and poor. What is being built up in these various religious iterations is the outer man...the religious outer man. Such a religion is defiled by the flesh.

A sound doctrine is one that is walked in...practiced. It abides humility and the fear of the Lord. It abides taking responsibility for our actions.

A doctrine that is NOT sound is one that leads to a confident and careless walk without the fear of the Lord. To have confidence in the Lord can come from 2 places in us. We can be confident like Agag (king of the Amalekites) who said, "surely the bitterness of death is past." Such is a false confidence in thinking that one is saved whereas only judgment awaits. This kind of confidence is based on a compromised doctrine rather than on the living God.

Then there is the confidence in the Lord from the part of us that is indeed created in God's image...the part of us that cries out Abba Father...the part of us that has been regenerated by the Spirit.

It’s about control and satan fears losing control over us. He can control the weak outer man like a dang puppet and he uses the whole religious system and world system to do it.He can’t control the inner man though because that’s by the Spirit.

“Sound doctrine” is “the truth”.

“For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears; And they shall turn away their ears from the truth, and shall be turned unto fables.” (2 Timothy 4:3-4)

All truths come from God in his holy word in the Holy Scriptures.

2. teaching, i. e. that which is taught, doctrine: Eph 4:14; 1 Tim 1:10; 4:6; 6:1,3; 2 Tim 4:3; Titus 1:9; 2:1,10; plural ‎didaskaliai‎, teachings, precepts (from Isa 29:13), Matt 15:9; Mark 7:7; ‎a)nqrw/pwn‎, Col 2:22; ‎daimoni/wn‎, 1 Tim 4:1.*

NT:1319
NT:1319† didaskali/a, a$, h( didaskalia teaching*
1. Occurrences in the NT — 2. Meaning — 3. Usage — 4. ‎ (Eterodidaskale/w ‎
BIBLIOGRAPHY
1. The noun appears a total of 21 times in the NT. With two exceptions, it appears only in the Epistles; remarkably, 15 of these occurrences are in the Pastorals.
2. ‎Didaskali/a ‎appears in the active sense of the action of teaching or instruction in Rom 12:7 and 1 Tim 4:13; 5:17; Titus 2:7, as well as Rom 15:4 and 2 Tim 3:16. In other passages ‎didaskali/a ‎denotes the content of teaching, most often in the sg. The pl. always has a negative connotation.
3. a) In reference to the action of teaching or instruction ‎didaskali/a ‎in Rom 12:7 and in the Pastorals designates a specific function in the Church: Rom 12:7, the activity of the ‎dida/skwn‎, in 1 Tim 4:13, one of the functions of the church leader. In 1 Tim 5:17 ‎didaskali/a ‎with ‎lo/go$ ‎designates the preaching and teaching activity of the presbyters. Correspondingly the phrase ‎e)n th=| didaskali/a| ‎in Titus 2:7 can be translated "as a teacher" (‎dida/skw‎). In Rom 15:4 and 2 Tim 3:16 ‎didaskali/a ‎is used broadly for the instruction of the Church through the OT Scripture. In 2 Tim 3:16, where ‎didaskali/a ‎is parallel to ‎e)legmo/$‎, it includes an antiheretical aspect (c).
b) The pl. occurs — except for 1 Tim 4:1 (d) — only in the citation of Isa 29:13 (LXX) in Mark 7:7 par. Matt 15:9 to describe "the tradition of the elders" as "the precepts of men" in contrast to "the command of God" (Mark 7:8). Similarly, in Col 2:22 it is used to characterize the legal injunctions of the opponents (cf. Col 2:8; Titus 1:14). This polemical use of Isa 29:13 in the NT becomes a key element in the debate about the validity of the law in the Church.
c) In the Pastoral Epistles ‎didaskali/a ‎in the sg. is a t.t. for apostolic or Christian teaching as a whole (1 Tim 1:10; 4:6,16; 6:1,3; 2 Tim 3:10; 4:3; Titus 1:9; 2:1,10). Its characterization as "sound" (1 Tim 1:10; 2 Tim 4:3; Titus 1:9; 2:1), as "good" (1 Tim 4:6), and as "the doctrine which is in accordance with true religion" (1 Tim 6:3, JB) demonstrates that it is regarded as the opposite of false teaching.
d) Accordingly ‎didaskali/a ‎in the pl. in 1 Tim 4:1 designates the false teaching produced by demonic powers, which is in itself a sign of the end time. The image of the storm or wind in Eph 4:14 (cf. also Jude 12f.; Heb 13:9) is intended to portray the unreliability of human teaching in contrast to the truth of faith (v. 15).
4. Corresponding to the use of ‎didaskali/a ‎in the Pastorals as a t.t. for correct teaching (3.c), the compound e(terodidaskale/w (1 Tim 1:3; 6:3) means spread a different teaching* (cf. Ign. Pol. 3:1 [ET ]). The prefix ‎e(tero-‎, in accordance with 1 Tim 1:10, makes the word refer to the opposite of "sound teaching." Paul's reference to "another gospel" (Gal 1:6f.) is essentially comparable (Rengstorf 163).

NT:1319
2. didaskalia (‎didaskali/a‎, NT:1319) denotes, as No. 1 (from which, however, it is to be distinguished), (a) "that which is taught, doctrine," Matt 15:9; Mark 7:7; Eph 4:14; Col 2:22; 1 Tim 1:10; 4:1,6; 6:1,3; 2 Tim 4:3; Titus 1:9 ("doctrine," in last part of verse: see also No. 1); 2:1,10; (b) "teaching, instruction," Rom 12:7, "teaching"; 15:4, "learning", 1 Tim 4:13, KJV, "doctrine," RV, "teaching"; v. 16, KJV, "the doctrine," RV, (correctly) "thy teaching; 5:17, KJV, "doctrine," RV "teaching"; 2 Tim 3:10,16 (ditto); Titus 2:7, "thy doctrine." Cf. No. 1, under DOCTOR. See LEARNING.

NT:1319
LEARNING (NOUN)
1. gramma (‎gra/mma‎, NT:1121), "a letter," is used in the plural in Acts 26:24, with the meaning "learning": "(thy much) learning (doth turn thee to madness)," RV, possibly an allusion to the Jewish Scriptures, to which the apostle had been appealing; in John 7:15, "(How knoweth this Man) letters" (KJV marg., "learning"), the succeeding phrase "not having learned" is illustrated in the papyri, where it indicates inability to write. See BILL.
2. didaskalia (‎didaskali/a‎, NT:1319), "teaching, instruction" (akin to didasko, "to teach"), is translated "learning" in Rom 15:4. See DOCTRINE.

(from Vine's Expository Dictionary of Biblical Words, Copyright © 1985, Thomas Nelson Publishers.)_

1 Timothy 1:9-10
To be included as a violation, an action must be contrary to sound doctrine. The word for doctrine is used fifteen times in the Pastoral Letters, four times in the other letters, and twice in the Gospels (Matt 15:9 and Mark 7:7). The word itself can refer either to the act of teaching or to the content of what is being taught; this latter meaning seems to fit the context in the present verse and in the Pastoral Letters as a whole. It does seem that, at the time the Pastorals were written, there was a body of Christian teaching (or doctrine) that was the basis for determining the validity and acceptability of certain teachings or beliefs. Sound doctrine aptly describes a body of teaching that is correct, accurate, valid, and which contributes to the well-being and building up of the church. Other ways of expressing this final clause are "who do anything else that is against correct Christian teachings" or "who go against correct Christian teachings in any other way."

Yes. The devil's first victory is in convincing us that this world is the ultimate reality and that outer man (with our worldly experiences and adaptive personality) is the real us.

What is the sound doctrine being described in Scripture ?
Sound doctrine is sound biblical preaching and teaching based upon the Word of God, and consistent with the character of God and Christ, as well as consistent with Gospel Truth. In sound doctrine Scripture supports Scripture, and eventually leads to the perfection and maturity of the Christian: All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: That the man of God may be perfect, throughly furnished unto all good works. (2 Tim 3:16,17)

So everything pertaining to sound (uncorrupt) doctrine is found in the Bible. If anything originates from outside the Bible, it is very questionable.

Sound doctrine is not favoring one verse for others and ignoring scripture that way. Sound doctrine can be found when harmonizing the scriptures in your soul. Accepting all scripture as true and important.

Wait though…that outer man IS the real us. We have to realize that, and that we’re a condemned building, before we will agree to pick up our cross.

True. We are both inner man and outer man...UNTIL we go to the cross. Then we realize that God wants to have a relationship with the inner man. We are to identify ourselves with that part of us. The outer man does not survive into eternity. But the inner man...if by faith and faithfulness clings to the Lord...will live on. And we can learn to have no confidence in the flesh...or our own understanding.
