for the life of me how does anyone even remotely think this is talking about purification / purgatory . nothing in the scripture mentions purgatory or purification. this is dealing with the works we use to build with being tested by fire quality gold silver precious stones have stood the test of time. these are the type works we use to build upon the foundation which Christ staterted .for he is the true foundation .

when christ asked peter who do you say that i am peter said thou art the Christ jesus replied upon this knowledge i will build my church at the gates of hell will not prevail .. we are the church yes there will be fiery trials times of testing , but if we are building with quality Gold Silver Precious stones . the gates of hell/ battering rams of hell can not defeat us nor can it take our salvation away .. when we are saved the Blood of Christ washes all sins away. if we do sin we have a advocate .

however if one is building with wood hay stubble nothing we do will stand the fiery trials . in the the above verses this judgment has Nothing to do with saved or not saved there is works in our life .we can compare it to james faith w/o works is dead.. our faith is being tested everyday..
but once again i really wish folks would learn scripture for what they really mean.. not some silly man made theology called purgatory .
we leave this life when God calls us out either saved or not saved

the key thing of it is peter wrote His divine power hath given unto us all things that pertain unto life and godliness, through the knowledge of Him that hath called us to glory and virtue. 2 peter 1:3 so whose fault is it if we fail and build with the flesh wood hay stubble

I'm not quite sure I follow what your point is here.

Double negatives always confuse me. Are you saying that God has revealed that everything you used to own was trash?

I guess I see it differently. I don't go about trying to win Christ by counting or pretending my stuff is garbage. I see that all my stuff is garbage, and suddenly I am free from it. If I am truly free, then I have found the truth. I am lost to this fallen world, and mercilessly pitied. There's a part of me that finds this bewildering. How can so many people feel sorry for someone who has not only found the truth, but discovered it to be incomprehensibly valuable? Every question is answered, every dilemma solved. There is no need to strive or struggle. There is no load to carry. There is nothing complicated to learn because coming into contact with the truth obviates the need to do or learn anything. The job is finished. We've all been paid even though the work is already done.

When someone views doing drugs as a viable option to reality, they've counted their life as dung. They only want to escape their miserable life.

I'm not sure that concepts have any duration either. I can engage in this abstract thought process, but this isn't reality. It's derived from reality so it's basically fake.

This is where I'm afraid I may have left the tracks because I don't see anything being stored up in heaven or at some time in the future. Who was it that pointed out that it is in giving that we receive? I never had a clue how quickly I could become addicted to the instant gratification that comes with giving garbage away. I know for a fact that there are a lot of people who think I'm completely crazy, and maybe I am. There were many years where I was worried about losing my mind; perhaps that's what happens when one finally does lost their mind, they simply don't care anymore.

I'm pretty sure there will be no reward for me in the next life. I've recieved them all right now.

Not all sins, there are those we may forget to confess to. When we convert to Christianity and are baptized our Ancestral Sin and the sins we committed up to that point are cleansed. We keep dinning and confessing but there might be a sin or ins we neglected to repent of so that is where the idea of cleanings comes in. God is Holy and nothing dirty can be in His sight that is why our soul would want to be clean

    Hello Ezra,

Being 'tested bt fire' and 'being purified by fire'... How do you see a difference between these two statements?

    Merry Christmas!

Curious how “but scripture says it’s appointed unto man once to die and after that the judgement” fits with death in Christ?

Colossians 3:3 For ye are dead, and your life is hid with Christ in God.

2 Corinthians 5:14-15 For the love of Christ constraineth us; because we thus judge, that if one died for all, then were all dead: [15] And that he died for all, that they which live should not henceforth live unto themselves, but unto him which died for them, and rose again.

Hebrews 2:14-15 Forasmuch then as the children are partakers of flesh and blood, he also himself likewise took part of the same; that through death he might destroy him that had the power of death, that is, the devil; [15] And deliver them who through fear of death were all their lifetime subject to bondage.

in the scripture our works at the bema seat of christ is judged by the fire ..the tested by fire is the refiners fire the fiery trials we go through.lets compare job Job 23:10 But He knows the way I take; When He has tried me, I shall come forth as gold. this is the refiners fire 1cor 3:12-15 is the bema seat of Christ for our works we done. if they are of God then they will be gold silver precious stones .if of our own merit say to make us look good they will be like wood hay stubble burn up wont last . what 1 cor 3 is not that is purgatory . every day we live is a testing fiery trail of our faith.. days we do good days we don't but we grow by coming through the fire this is o.t but we can make it a n t standard
Malachi 3:1-3 King James Version (KJV)
3 Behold, I will send my messenger, and he shall prepare the way before me: and the Lord, whom ye seek, shall suddenly come to his temple, even the messenger of the covenant, whom ye delight in: behold, he shall come, saith the Lord of hosts.

2 But who may abide the day of his coming? and who shall stand when he appeareth? for he is like a refiner's fire, and like fullers' soap:

3 And he shall sit as a refiner and purifier of silver: and he shall purify the sons of Levi, and purge them as gold and silver, that they may offer unto the Lord an offering in righteousness.

The Church, Christ. The Scripture is a small part of that not a major part as evangelicals have made it.

the Church is the Body of Christ Christ is the head
    2 Timothy 3:16

“All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:”

For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.

John 5:39 Search the scriptures; for in them ye think ye have eternal life: and they are they which testify of me.

Isaiah 8:20 To the law and to the testimony: if they speak not according to this word, it is because there is no light in them.

we use the word of God as our guide scripture is a BIG part combined with the Holy SPIRIT

Hi Helen, hope you've had a wonderful Christmas with family and friends!
If I may ask a question about this? It seems to me that you are suggesting that God will, in fact, end up redeeming all mankind. And, while the doctrine of hell is hard, it is not unbiblical.
C.S. Lewis said of hell, “There is no doctrine which I would more willingly remove from Christianity than this, if it lay in my power. But it has the full support of Scripture and, specially, of our Lord’s own words; it has always been held by Christendom; and it has the support of reason”
In scripture we see Jesus telling us these things:

“Enter by the narrow gate. For the gate is wide and the way is easy that leads to destruction, and those who enter by it are many. For the gate is narrow and the way is hard that leads to life, and those who find it are few. -Matthew 7:13–14

Jesus said to him, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me. -John 14:6

We see that Christ expects the majority of humankind to choose 'destruction' over everlasting life. And that the only way to everlasting life is to place our trust and faith in Christ as our redeeming Lord...which we know many, many people do not. Again, C.S. Lewis puts it rather succinctly:

“There are only two kinds of people in the end: those who say to God, ‘Thy will be done,’ and those to whom God says, in the end, ‘Thy will be done.’”

Those who continually choose to deny and reject Christ, God's very Son who went through so much to save us all, will, in the end, be granted what they desire...the ability not to worship and love God for all eternity, no matter the consequences that comes with.
