I agree that this is a Satan metaphor but one thing stuck me earlier that makes me think you are on the right track here look at the root word From the root wordLavah: A verb1) to join, be joineda) (Qal) to join, be joined, attend
(Niphal) to join oneself to, be joined unto2) to borrow, lenda) (Qal) to borrow
(Hiphil) to cause to borrow, lend toThis could be alluding to just what you are saying the preachers teachers that are joined to Satan i.e. false doctrines lies ect. To borrow from truth and twist it to liesPerhaps this is why when Satan is called the dragon its a different word one is applied to Satan himself and Leviathan is referring to those (pieces) with him.
