Did the kjv boys negate the word of God by changing it from doing penance for your sins to repent or confess your sin?

penance
/ˈpɛnəns/
noun
  • 1.punishment inflicted on oneself as an outward expression of repentance for wrongdoing:"he had done public penance for those hasty words"
  • 2.a sacrament in which a member of the Church confesses sins to a priest and is given absolution.
God does not require us to punish ourselves. In his love he forgives our sins when we turn to Jesus in a act of repentance - that is turning our back on sin. And that is the act that gives us new birth in Christ.

Matt 3:2 do penance.

2 pet 3:9 return to penance.

Lk 13:5 do penance.

More modernly referred to as Repentence Faith. It means to admit the sin, ask for forgiveness, and do your utmost to not do it again.

5 I tell you, no! But unless you repent, you too will all perish.”

2 and saying, “Repent, for the kingdom of heaven has come near.”

I can’t help it if you insist on a faulty translation of scripture

it’s do penance for your sins
Make reparation to God’s justice

Three things constitute penance!

prayer, alms, fasting!

Jesus did not say if you do these but when you do them!

so they are required

God’s mercy forgives us by the merits of Christ’s passion, blood, and death but we have to satisfy God’s justice and Christ in His sacrifice makes this possible to his members

"Penance" is a "cult of the virgin" mistranslation of the word "repentance", that was created by a really bad translation of the "Latin" text that was created by Jerome.
Because of this horrible mistranslation, one good thing happened and one bad thing continues.

The good.. is that Martin Luther realized that Jerome was a really bad Translator, who recreated verses, which caused Martin Luther to begin to reject the "cult of the Virgin", that led to the "Protestant reformation".

The bad.... is that because of this horrible mistranslation, billions of catholics are sent to do some Legalistic Cross rejecting "work" as if this can justify them.

Lk 1:38 And Mary said, Behold the handmaid of the Lord; be it unto me according to thy word. And the angel departed from her.

Lk 1:48 For he hath regarded the low estate of his handmaiden: for, behold, from henceforth all generations shall call me blessed.

(as a song of thanksgiving)

Jn 19:27 Then saith he to the disciple, Behold thy mother! And from that hour that disciple took her unto his own home.

a new song!

Psalm 96:1
O sing unto the Lord a new song: sing unto the Lord, all the earth.

the new song?

Lk 1:28 Hail, Mary! Full of grace!

in thanksgiving to God who did great things to Mary our divine mother! Lk 1:49

penance is provided by God in the merits of Christ!
Luther was an apostle?
Eph 2:20
Or a excommunicated heretic?

Why do we need to punish ourselves when Jesus has already paid the price in full for our sin. He took the punishment and we are redeemed through that.

Mary our divine mother! Lk 1:49

Only the "cult of the virgin" teaches that mary is divine.

The Bible does not teach this..
The bible says that "mary is blessed among women"..but the "cult of the virgin" teaches that she is blessed above women.

Did you ever notice that from the Cross, Jesus didnt call mary his "mother".
He called her "woman".
Catholics should take note of this, asap and repent of their "mary lies".

Jesus did it all for us!
That’s a fundamentalist idea not Christian

if he did all for us explain?
Luke 9:23
And he said to them all, If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow me.

Luke 14:27
And whosoever doth not bear his cross, and come after me, cannot be my disciple.

he made it possible for us to do penance to repair the offense we committed against God and His commandments

he obtained mercy and made reparation to the divine justice possible

He gave them the power to forgive sins! Jn 20:23

Your dictionary is referring to penance’s or self-denial such as Lk 9:23 and would be part of austerity under fasting!

Jesus was on the earth, when He spoke your verses.
So, to be a disciple on earth, you do need to offer yourself, in His service, down here.
But, to go to heaven, you have to be given from God, the sacrifice of Christ's blood and death on the CROSS for your sin, that you can't resolve by carrying a cross or carrying anything else, @theefaith.

woman? Christ is referring to Gen 3:15 about his mother Mary!

who said Mary is divine?
Where does the church teach that Mary is divine?

I said on purpose, “the divine mother”!
That don’t make her God!

we call the apostle John
“St. John the Divine” does that make him God? No!
He only taught the most about the divinity so he is called St. John the divine
And the divine mother only means “mother of God”!
