I think it will be more about only one to be worshiped, the beast. No other religion will be tolerated. The harlot will incorporate all idolatrous worship, the beast will demand worship only for itself.

Just for the record, I think a temple will be built in Jerusalem following the Gog/Magog destruction, at which time the church is raptured, during the 70th week of Daniel.

Following seeing their enemies destroyed by fire from heaven, Israel will build their temple, which they already have prepared, with no one to stop them, and a massive display from God. Ezekiel records an earthquake at that time which starts in Israel and spreads throughout the earth. I imagine some will say this earthquake is something other than the earth itself quaking, but I'll stick with that.

The church is raptured, the Jews are worshiping in their temple, the 2 witnesses are prophesying, and the beast is rising. The witnesses will be killed, the son of perdition sits in their temple, and those who will heed Jesus' words flee from Jerusalem and Judea, to the wilderness, to be nourished there by God.

The thing that comes to mind for me in this scenerio, is that the world is reading the bible too.
Let's say the devil knows the scriptures. And he will create a physical replica of what is a spiritual truth.
Self-fulfilling prophecy. The world is waiting to see with their eyes this fulfillment of prophecy.
Jesus says the Kingdom of God comes without observation.

I believe the man of sin is me, sitting in this body/temple, showing myself that I am God.
I bring upon myself /me acting as God the abomination, and by it bring upon myself desolation.
It is only when we have submitted to the Lord, have died with Christ been made alive through his ressurection in us, that we can shout:
1Co 15:55 O death, where is thy sting? O grave, where is thy victory?

Rev 20:14 And death and hell were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death.

The residue of what's left of the I in me is consumed. The ego is no more to be found.

1Co 15:54 So when this corruptible shall have put on incorruption, and this mortal shall have put on immortality, then shall be brought to pass the saying that is written, Death is swallowed up in victory.

A misunderstanding of the 70 weeks prophecy in Daniel will throw all eschatology into a confusing and wrong direction.
The error is the separation of the 70th week from the continuum of the prophecy. This view is one of eisegesis not exegesis.
