And to the apostles He said Jn 8:32 and

John 16:13
Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will shew you things to come.

Yes, He did.
That's why He said to the First Bishops of His Church:

Matt. 18:18
Amen, I say to you, WHATEVER YOU BIND on earth shall be bound in heaven, and WHATEVER YOU LOOSE on earth shall be loosed in heaven.

Luke 10:16
Whoever listens to YOU listens to ME. Whoever rejects YOU rejects ME. And whoever rejects ME rejects the ONE who sent ME."

John 20:23
Whose sins YOU FORGIVE are forgiven them, and whose sins YOU RETAIN are retained.”

That's CHRIST'S AUTHORITY . . .

Ya, ya, follow your Bishops, just as you said, Your Catholic Bishops told you to Follow them.

Jesus said to Follow Him! I'll stick with following Jesus.

Men fail, even your Bishops.

And Paul said to follow Paul (1 Cor. 11:1) as he does Christ.

That's what the God-given Authority of Matt. 18:15-18, Luke 10:16 and John 21:23 are ALL about . . .

Follow Jesus!
That IS following Jesus.
Jesus said that to follow His Church is to follow HIM and the ONE who sent HIM (Luke 10:16, Matt. 16:18-19, Matt. 18:15-18, and John 21:23).

Lk 10:16 Jn 20:21-22

I full well know for centuries the people at Large could not read or wright...
And gathered together to Listen to Preachers.

No they did not "follow" their Preachers Around, daily.
People got their weekly dose of Hearing Scripture and went on about their business, until the next Week.

Disciples FOLLOWED Jesus daily.
The LEARNED daily.

Following a Preacher is no different ToDAY- once a week, maybe an Hour, on whatever Topic the Preacher chooses.

Following JESUS is Daily!

And ToDAY- with more people capable of Reading, writing, and easy access printed, electronic Bibles...

No excuse to Do what Jesus Taught!
Follow Him!

Mt 28:19 we must be taught by the apostles and their successors and obey them, obey all that Christ commanded them

Really?

They were to carry on Jesus' Works ...
Seek the Lost Jews,
Then seek the Other Tribes,
And
Paul to seek the Gentiles.

Is that what you have or are doing?

LOL-
Most Churches are headed by Clerics Preaching their "Weekly Sermon...Decided" by their Churches "Headquarters"...
NOT necessarily what their individual congregation is struggling with!

And ... AFTER that one hour Sermon by the Cleric...the individuals, don't see their Cleric for another Week.

And BTW...statistically...FEW people READ a Bible.

IF such INDIVIDUALS...were Following Jesus...The WOULD be following Him Daily dude.

You didn't say anything.
I already know the Before, middle, and After.
And BTW, I do not trust your references to Scripture.
Too many times, you make a claim, give a Scriptural Reference, and the Reference has NOT one iota to do with your claim.

im not an apostle. Jesus Christ continues His ministry in His church thru His apostles and their successors with the same mission power and authority of Christ! Jn 20:21-23

More ignorance.
The Homily/Sermon of the Mass is based on the 3 Scripture readings during the Liturgy of the Word.

Sermons aren't meant to tackle every individual's "personal issues". they are meant to edify the Body as a whole.
If further counseling is needed, there is personal spiritual direction available in most every Catholic AND Protestant church.
