Daniel 10:12-13New International Version
12 Then he continued, “Do not be afraid, Daniel. Since the first day that you set your mind to gain understanding and to humble yourself before your God, your words were heard, and I have come in response to them.13 But the prince of the Persian kingdom resisted me twenty-one days. Then Michael, one of the chief princes, came to help me, because I was detained there with the king of Persia.

As it states in the title... In this passage from Daniel, while he was waiting for his prayer to be answered, who was the prince of the Persian Kingdom that was blocking the angel from answering Daniel's prayer?

This is typical of how God worked in the Old Testament. He used his angels as Messengers much more than he does today because Believers have the ability to have the Holy Spirit in their lives and communicate directly with God. Personally I think that is this answer to Daniel also came in a vision which is probably why he couldn't move because it was in a vision. It's very common to dream that you're stuck in mud or running very slowly or can't move.

I believe it to be one of Satans angels that was over the kingdom of Persia. It was higher in authority than the angel first sent to Daniel and was able to block him. Therefore a higher angel from God was sent, Michael, to remove this block. I believe it is a look into the spirit warfare that is constantly going on.

A spirit being in the spirit world where Michael is a chief prince but that spirit belongs to the dark side. The prince or princes that Michael and Gabriel fight belong to evil forces who also have the power to influence the minds and affairs of humans.

(Joh 12:31 KJV) Now is the judgment of this world: now shall the prince of this world be cast out.

(Eph 2:2 KJV) Wherein in time past ye walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, the spirit that now worketh in the children of disobedience:

Eph 6:10-12 KJV
(10) Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might.
(11) Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.
(12) For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.

(1Th 2:18 KJV) Wherefore we would have come unto you, even I Paul, once and again; but Satan hindered us.
