What is sin for one....if we are going to criticize other Christians who smoke, then you would have to include anyone who eats food not healthy, does not exercise their bodies. Nicotine is horribly addictive and those satanic tobacco companies started to even add more nicotine when they were trying for the new generation in the 70's so as to hook them fast and strong. It took me many years to kick that habit out of my life. We are still human and we are far from perfect, our sister I am sure, would not be smoking around who would be tempted to re-start that habit and in so doing would be placing a stumbling block before them. Just my take ♥

Amazing how some legalist can pick on smoking or tattoo's and call it sin...yet continue to be unloving, judgmental, gluttonous and the hidden sins like backbiting, gossip , Porn, and worse ...they look at the weeds in another's "garden" yet leave the weeds in their own.

You are like unto a wise woman, sitting underneath a fig tree speaking truth! lol...true tho. :)
If there are those on here who think that "unkind thoughts" are not sin I would disagree with you. Speak the truth in love, be wise as serpents and gentle as doves.." Jesus was not always nicey nice, His was a righteous anger and the sun never went down on it. We should strive to do likewise.

BTW, I wonder if the word 'vaping' will one day supersede the word 'smoking'?

@"ByGrace": Thanks for the 'like'; sorry the thread is a few pages long now, I didn't remember what you may have told us about your relationship to smoking/vaping/quitting, etc....

Yes....well I have quit...then started back up....then quit....then started....I am back on the quit part of it....I am unsure about the vaping as a means to quit.
If you feel you have to smoke some more, would you be likely to consider vaping instead of going back to cigarettes?

Seems like it's already been positive for your friends. Although when one is a bit (?) stressed and feels a nicotine urge, it's maybe slightly easier just to go to the convenience store or garage to be able to light a cigarette quickly, rather than to make the preparation of getting the equipment from a vaping store, yet having the vaping equipment on the shelf ready for when the stress and urge comes, does in the long run avoid some of the difficulties associated with smoking cigarettes.

@Nancy , PS: So with vaping do you think that you are gradually cutting down on your vaping levels or is it likely more or less static and constant for now?

There have been quite a few posts about vaping.

I suppose I should look back on these posts. I have cut down on the nicotine levels over the years but, I will not get rid of them altogether anytime soon, lol. I enjoy them and my many years of reading any and all things e-cig, I am convinced they (if allowed) kill the tobacco companies. I know too many who have totally gotten off the tobacco using these. My sister quit on them and she is going on a few months of no vaping either. My brother and I are fine with still using them. Bottom line, they save lives.

Okay! I think for you, you said it's the quality of the hits that are just as good. Sounds like you do still strongly feel you need them but vaping has evidently enabled you to cut down on nicotine levels, while delivering it in a far better way.

PS: As a means to cutting down and/or eliminating some of the side effects it might be worthwhile; it's also inexpensive and can provide some probably safer nicotine hits that it sounds like you as a long term thing have become very accustomed to and in that sense need, I suppose. I don't have the need any more; but from what you describe you still seem to; but it's up to you whether you try it as an alternative to keeping going back to cigarettes.
People have to realize that it is not the nicotine that kills you, it's the carcinogens and many, many chemicals, and tar that kills. Nicotine just hooks you. Cigarettes even have embalming fluid in them.

What's In a Cigarette?
There are approximately 600 ingredients in cigarettes. When burned, they create more than 7,000 chemicals. At least 69 of these chemicals are known to cause cancer, and many are poisonous.

Many of these chemicals also are found in consumer products, but these products have warning labels. While the public is warned about the danger of the poisons in these products, there is no such warning for the toxins in tobacco smoke.
Here are a few of the chemicals in tobacco smoke and other places they are found:
  • Acetone – found in nail polish remover
  • Acetic Acid – an ingredient in hair dye
  • Ammonia – a common household cleaner
  • Arsenic – used in rat poison
  • Benzene – found in rubber cement
  • Butane – used in lighter fluid
  • Cadmium – active component in battery acid
  • Carbon Monoxide – released in car exhaust fumes
  • Formaldehyde – embalming fluid
  • Hexamine – found in barbecue lighter fluid
  • Lead – used in batteries
  • Naphthalene – an ingredient in mothballs
  • Methanol – a main component in rocket fuel
  • Nicotine – used as insecticide
  • Tar – material for paving roads
  • Toluene - used to manufacture paint

...whereas the vapor from vaping is much purer but still delivers the inhales in a far safer way, right?

This is the site I spent many years on to learn of the E-cig. It is one of the largest forums in the world and any and every question you might have about the e-cig, will be answered here:

Oh thanks! looks like an interesting resource; some interesting discussions there. Seems like you are already a very well established vaping veteran.

Lol...I must admit that, yes, well established :) Also one must always keep in mind that vaping is different from person to person. Many like the fruity flavors of the liquid. Some like the different type of tobacco flavors. It can be a trial and error thing to begin with-some like lots of vapor, I could care less how much vapor my e-cig produces. I look for throat hit. If one wants the big plumes of vapor they should get the vegetable glycerin base. If you rather more of a throat hit, go with propylene glycol base. Flavors are as personal as the person and again, trial and error...many give up way too easily. It is just something one needs to become accustomed to.

So your advice is, don't give up; try hard and it will become worthwhile.

As a means to get away from cigarettes, I can see that vaping has a lot to recommend it. I'm wondering also, however, for young people who have never smoked cigarettes, what, with your experience, your advice for them would be about vaping?
