Just wondered if anyone is watching the World Cup.
England and the USA will be playing on friday.
Today we were playing Iran , the final score was 6-2 , I missed every goal as I was working and seemed to be in the wrong place all the time. The residents had it on in the lounges and some of their rooms ……I would go and check on the match every so often, each time another goal had been scored just prior to me getting there.
I am not working Friday , I know which team I will be cheering for…….sorry USA ,it’s not you !!!
let the battle for goals commence ! !
Haven't seen any World cup match yet, hope Australia can make it past the group stages this time, definitely a tough group though.

Yeah but they began to slide when manager Revie left to be England manager, the Leeds board then appointed Brian Clough as manager but it was a disaster because the players and fans didn't like Clough because he'd criticised the Leeds team in the past, so the board panicked and sacked him early.
Maybe if they'd kept him on, they'd have won the European Cup..:)
Brian Clough became Brighton manager for awhile, he was quite a character.

I agree about going to Quatar, but FIFA were bribed to accept their bid over ten years ago.

Al-Qaeda Calls for ‘Stoning’ People In Qatar Because of ‘Pornographic’ World Cup ‘Invasion’

From banning alcohol sales at game venues, to comments by the Qatar World Cup Ambassador, to allegations of labor abuses, the international event is fraught with controversy.

So this was an absolutely stupid idea.

The Koran says-
"..fight those of the infidels who are near to you and let them find in you hardness..." [Koran 9.123]
so good luck to fans who've gone to Qatar..;)

I was gutted that I missed all the goals !!lol
So is that your prediction for Friday and the group. I was going to go 3 -1 as well as we often have goal predictions before we watch the game. …not sure about the USA going through yet.

Yes, I remember Leeds being one of the top clubs. My twin brother supported Man City at the time.
They were good goals, have you seen the replay?
Yes 3-1, USA will get a consolation goal scored by Brendon Aaronson...the Leeds player Chkl:

Erling Brut Haaland (goal machine) who plays for Man city was born in Leeds. His Dad played for Leeds and Man city

Yeah, I've seen the movie "The damned united". Good manager was cloughy

Shame about your Leicester trial. Wish I could have had an opportunity with Leeds or Doncaster Rovers, but I was on a ship for Australia in 66 and I am still here.

Not a soccer fan either but will watch the Rugby World Cup. NZ just won the women's Rugby World Cup just recently. :joyful:
The Aussie's did it again in the league.. No stopping those all blacks in the union.
Amazed how they can survive week in week out. I would be dead after 5 minutes playing that game.

4-1, Aussies scored the first goal, and then France scored 4 in a row, tough team.

No I was so tired after my shift and just haven’t seen the replay, I am watching the match on Friday so they may show highlights in the build up to the match.

No, they backed down. But Iran didn't sing their anthem in protest to the country's regime.
Really concerned for the team, I believe the goalie has already had his home ransack by the authorities in Iran. Not sure how safe they will personally be when they return. Very brave team x

I would think they are one of England's main rivals :p
England are a bit unpredictable ( lol ) they can either be on good form and play well against the big teams or they can play really badly and be beat by the teams they should beat easily. I love it when they play Germany , but France I simply don’t like.
Japan beat Germany and Saudi Arabia beat argentina and Italy didn’t even make it in , so there have already been some surprises !
I actually want Iran to get through because of the courage they showed with their protest xx

Saudi did well to hang on, I thought Argentina were gonna score another one in the final minutes. Japan did well too, Japan shouldn't really be underestimated, they are one of the best teams in Asia, South Korea can be pretty good too.
