Lets take a closer look at this passage.
Col 1:12 Giving thanks to God the Father, who hath made us worthy to be partakers of the lot of the saints in light:
Here we give thanks to God the Father, Why, Because he sent his Son Jesus to redeem us back to Himself.
Col 1:13 Who hath delivered us from the power of darkness and hath translated us into the kingdom of the Son of his love,
So what has happened here, we have been bought back from this world and been given citizenship in the kingdom of Jesus whom God loves. .
Col 1:14 In whom we have redemption through his blood, the remission of sins:
This explains the legalities of how it works. Our sins are forgiven because Jesus paid the price for those sins with his own blood.
Col 1:15 Who is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of every creature:
This explains who Jesus is. An image is what you see in the mirror. It has the likeness of the original. We also see that Jesus came about before any other creatures, He was the first of creation before he was begotten as the son of man.God the Father was already around before Jesus was.
Col 1:16 For in him were all things created in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones, or dominations, or principalities, or powers. All things were created by him and in him.
Now this explains what Jesus did, we are looking at political controls, It is bringing governing order to God the Fathers creation
Col 1:17 And he is before all: and by him all things consist.
We are still looking at governing controls here, Jesus was around before any of it existed but it is because of him that it now consists, That is why he is also called the King of the Kings and the Lord of the Lords.
Col 1:18 And he is the head of the body, the church: who is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead, that in all things he may hold the primacy:
This now explains Jesus and his relationship to the Church, He occupies the position of the head that controls the rest of the body made up of the redeemed saints. He is the first to be resurrected from the dead which makes him the first in all else related to the church.
Col 1:19 Because in him, it hath well pleased the Father that all fulness should dwell:
Because it is pleasing to God the Father that Jesus his only beggon son should be the one over all.
Col 1:20 And through him to reconcile all things unto himself, making peace through the blood of his cross, both as to the things that are on earth and the things that are in heaven.
This is still from the Fathers perspective, he is reconciling all things to himself through the sacrifice of his Son, The blood being the currency used and this one time event is for all things on earth and all things in the heavens as well.
Now all this has been explained to you in small baby steps, you have been told, my hands are clear.
