You should add these 2 Aramaic to English "Peshitta" bibles to your library

The Eastern church has always claimed they have had in their possession the New Testament books written by the 1st century writers in their native language. Translating the Aramaic into English has been done by a few, and I suggest having these two translations in your library. I prefer Lamsa's, but I like having Bauscher's translation also to compare.

You'll find Bauscher's translation of 2 Thess 2:7 is best, whereas Lamsa on that verse (who was influenced to some degree by the KJV) stuck with the widely construed error.

The restraint, or restrainer, of 2 Thess 2:7 is not a person. And because all these translations have inserted a pronoun where none existed, and a male pronoun on top of that, everybody has invented a concept that is false, i.e. that the Holy Spirit is the restrainer. Not true.

What is actually written, and agrees with proper thought on the topic of the end days, is translated this way, with me correcting the grammar in red:

The correct translation - Aramaic to English
2 Th 2:7 For the mystery of lawlessness is already at work; only that which now restrains will do so until it is out of the way.

The restrainer is a thing, not a person. It's the moral fabric of society which convicts people about right and wrong.

And when sinful humans cast off their restraint in full, and give themselves over wholly to do evil (no restraint!), and lawlessness is unbridled, then you have the environment ripe for the false prophet to emerge and begin killing saints.

It makes sense that the Holy Spirit Who was given to the church at its birthday, Pentecost, should - when the church is complete at the Raputure - be removed.

"holy spirit," being in the neuter gender in NT Greek, is properly referred to with neuter pronouns ("it," "itself," etc.).

The Encyclopedia Americana tells us:

“The doctrine of the Holy Spirit [as a person who is God] is a distinctly Christian one.... the Spirit of Jehovah [in the OT] is the active divine principle in nature. .... Yes, the Council of Constantinople (381 A. D.) first officially decreed “the personality of the Holy Spirit”. - Cairns, pp. 142, 145; also see Encyclopedia Britannica, v. 6, p. 22, 1985 ed.
