To all:

Again, if there is no perfect Word of God, then who gets to decide what doctrines are true or false in their Bible?
The source of determining truth falls or rests on the individual ultimately and not on God's Word (the Bible).
This is why we need to have a perfect Word of authority that we cannot change or alter.

I know the KJB has archaic words and lots of stuff one may consider to be in error by a surface reading, but that does not mean it is not God's Word that is profitable for doctrine and instruction in righteousness. It's still God's Word. It's still a Word I can trust. Modern Bibles while helpful at times is not something I can trust entirely because they all each say things differently between one another and they also teach false doctrine. The King James Bible was around for hundreds of years long before the Revisers showed up and started the Modern Translation movement. While I believe God can use Modern Bibles for us to understand the KJB better, they simply cannot be our final Word of authority.

I don't believe it is wrong to make jokes upon something that is a false belief. A belief is not you. A belief is separate from who you are because you did not create it. My attack is not primarily upon you but it is upon the wrong belief. So my joke is geared towards the false belief. My apologies if that is not the definition you hold to for Phileo. But that still does not undo the points I made with Scripture that you are ignoring, friend.

If that is not what you believe that words means, I will of course retract that statement and I will apologize.

Anyways, do not take my word for it. But there are others who are not KJB Only who think that this whole love language thing was created by C.S. Lewis' book on the four love languages. Little do folks realize that C.S. Lewis struggled with the occult and he promoted witchcraft in his fictional writings.
typical still

As for something being created by CS lewis. lol. You should be ashamed of yourself. you do not think people can think for themselves? I did not get anything from CS lewis. I got it by looking up the greek.

I also have stated this is just 1 example. yet you seem to act like it is my whole argument.

Its ok though. It just proves your following your idol..

For a few reasons they have not. That is why you have 30,000 Protestant denominations.

The source of determining truth falls or rests on the individual ultimately and not on God's Word (the Bible).

This is not true. I say I am multi-denominational which means I go to different churches because I like fellowshipping with Christians. LOL Even Calvinist churches sometimes. I am not looking for any of the them to be perfect in theology. My personal preference is Holy Ghost churches. The most accurate Word of God resides in the original languages, some translations are more accurate than others. But most are not going to learn the scriptures from the original languages for several reasons.

I can reference the oldest manuscripts....books on that now, with photo copies of the oldest manuscripts. I am good at it, been doing it for a while....can I read and write Hebrew, Greek, and Aramaic....NO. I have only known two people that can do that and one of them has passed on. But this takes a level of research and education...and time, that most people are not going to do for several reasons. One the most common reasons is that people like to have information set in their lap.

BUT.....nothing is perfect in this world and it does not take complete understanding to be saved. I say it over and over again that you could put everything you needed to know on a 3X5 card and drop it on an island and they would have enough to be saved and apply Christianity....with less arguing. Of course it would have to be better handwriting than mine.

Best I can tell the vast majority of translations will give you the necessary information to be saved. And like I said I use several translations and then compare them to the actual scriptures. What I don't do is elevate any Bible to the level of God. The KJV only people defend it like it were God. That approaches idolatry.

What is your view of Phileo love? Is it an affection? Can it be an affection for a thing or a person?

You said:
As for something being created by CS lewis. lol. You should be ashamed of yourself. you do not think people can think for themselves? I did not get anything from CS lewis. I got it by looking up the greek.

So you never heard of the 4 languages of love before you did your study?
If you got it from looking up the Greek, then that Greek source was influenced by C.S. Lewis’ book (or from the Revisers before him).

You said:
I also have stated this is just 1 example. yet you seem to act like it is my whole argument.

Its ok though. It just proves your following your idol..

Now this is a false accusation that you think that being KJB Only equates with following an idol.
As I said before, a woman can cherish a love letter from her fiancé who is living in another country. But that does not make it an idol. Now, if she were to kiss the letter, talk to it, and take the letter out on dinner dates then there would be a problem (with it being an idol).
Christians who are KJB Only generally believe that GOD is a spirit being and He is to be worshiped. They view the words of GOD in the Bible as the expressed thoughts or mind of GOD towards us. To suggest that these words by GOD are perfect does not make them an idol because they are GOD’s written words to us about His good character, and His instructions towards us to love Him, and others. So to say that we regard this as an idol is one of the highest insults you can make towards another believer. It’s a false accusation not based on anything remotely true (in characterizing KJB Only believers as a whole). No KJB Only Christian bows down to the KJB as if it was literally the very core of who GOD is. GOD is a spirit being. The Bible is the thoughts of GOD. To deny their beauty and to not cherish their perfection is simply going down the path of tarnishing (dirtying) His Word (His thoughts or words) with one’s own thoughts (or by the thoughts of Revisionist scholars, i.e. men).

Anyways, you are not dealing with Mark 10:21. Why?
Please explain this verse to me in how you think it works in your defense.

What you propose sounds like Liberalism. No offense. That’s simply what you are describing here - IMHO. Anyone serious in following the Bible and His Word will not take such an approach (i.e. Liberalism). There is no use to argue against your points if this is the approach you take. For the Word of God can be anything you want it to mean if you hold to Liberalism. This is why you deny the Trinity, the Bible Alone as our authority, and Original Sin (i.e. that we were once in our past lives by nature children of wrath - Ephesians 2:3).

For example: If a person who designed planes was liberal in his approach to the blueprints in designing aircrafts (ignoring certain aviation safety standards), I am sure you would not want to fly on his planes. So then… why do that with a book that is supposed to be the guide for us having spiritual life? I would say it is far more important than some plane you may fly. The Bible is a book that determines our final fate or destiny for all time. But you are free to believe as you wish. Just know I don’t think your approach is going to sit well with our Lord come judgment day. GOD is very serious about His words. Not one jot or tittle will fail until all shall be fulfilled.

For to me: It seems like folks want to make history or visions or other things their authority and not the Bible (i.e. His Word). God is not going to ask if you knew your history or if you got His vision or some dream. He is going to hold us all accountable to the same standard (Which is His Word, i.e. the Holy Bible). For history is even more confusing than the Bible, and there is no one book on the church of history that everyone can know so easily. But the Bible is THE book that everyone knows about and trusts as the words of GOD.

How many ways can the KJV misinform people? Using the KJV how many ways can you cause someone to sin.? Then you have Bible only, with no understanding of the time period and what all God has done over the last ~ 2000 years.

Bible only produces a religion that only takes the first 65 years in consideration. Like God retired after that or someone gagged and tied Him up and set Him in a corner and forbid Him to speak.

This part of your signature -- " I believe in the Bible Alone (King James Version) as my authority for all matters of faith and practice" -- says everything one needs to know about you. You think that the KJV is the only true Bible, which is nonsense. It is a 411-year-old translation, created by fallible men. Your rigid position negates anything else you say.

Additionally...

Here are two definitions of liberalism, which you use in a pejorative manner...

1) willingness to respect or accept behavior or opinions different from one's own; openness to new ideas
2) a political and moral philosophy based on the rights of the individual, liberty, consent of the governed and equality before the law

What is your problem with the above?

You offer opinions and baseless insults, friend.
Instead of making sound biblical points that refute the Scriptural points I made using for the King James Bible being the pure Word of God, you resort to opinion and insults.

Why would you think this is a persuasive or an effective method that is wholesome and good?

The Bible is a book that determines our final fate or destiny for all time. But you are free to believe as you wish.

I think my reliance on the actual scriptures will set very well with Christ. No where in the scriptures does it say, Have a seat and all that you will need to know will be dumped in your lap. Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you.

The Bible is a book that determines our final fate or destiny for all time.

Christ determines our final "fate or destiny" How about our final destination. Here again idolatry, your thinking that the Bible thinks. It is not going to determine anythling....in is an inanimate object. Now you can get into the miracles associated with the Bible and the power of the Word of God but that comes from God, not the book.

For to me: It seems like folks want to make history or visions or other things their authority and not the Bible (i.e. His Word). I do not think Judgment Day will include a quiz, about anything. People believe in so many false beliefs and judge people on them and thereby cause great sin for themselves....and harm to others. Are people going to be judged on ignorance of the facts and the sins it caused...maybe...

But the Bible is THE book that everyone knows about and trusts as the words of GOD.

I am not going to say that the Bible is not important....but even at that without knowing the culture and languages and even what is actually going on, you can get the wrong meaning and have false beliefs.

Because I use the Bible to back up my arguments and it's not my thoughts alone or solely my own opinions.
The words of the Lord are pure words and they shall be preserved from this generation forever (Psalms 12:6-7).

As for being negative:

Well, it's not wrong to be express negativity against things that the Bible condemns or things that our outside God's will and purpose. 1 Thessalonians 4:3 says, “God’s will is for you to be holy, so stay away from all sexual sin.” (NLT). How do we be holy? 2 Timothy 3:16-17 basically says all Scripture is given by inspiration of God and is profitable for doctrine and instruction in righteousness. To say there is not a proper doctrine or proper instructions on righteousness within a perfect Word is to distort the truth on the matter.

As for intolerance:

We are to love the sinner but hate the sin. So I hate any false beliefs or any false ways.

Psalms 119:104
“Through thy precepts I get understanding: therefore I hate every false way.”

You said:
My Bible says, “Do not judge so that you will not be judged. For by the standard you judge you will be judged, and the measure you use will be the measure you receive. Why do you see the speck in your brother’s eye, but fail to see the beam of wood in your own?" Matthew 7:1-3

Matthew 7:1-3 is dealing with hypocritical judgment and it is not saying that you cannot judge.
Simply read verse 3. It is saying to take the speck out of one's eye before taking the speck out of another's eye.

Jesus says elsewhere.

John 7:24
“Judge not according to the appearance, but judge righteous judgment.”

The only thing that is partially true is the first statement. We liberals know that the King James Bible is not the pure Word of God. We accept modern translations because they are closer to the words and meaning of the earliest and best manuscripts.

Everything else you wrote is nonsense.

Your last two sentences are truly bizarre!

Of course Liberals follow God and not a book. That is your basic problem! You worship the King James translation as though it is God.

"[Liberals] would not know about God if it was not for the Bible" is absolute nonsense. "Consequently faith comes from what is heard, and what is heard comes through the preached word of Christ." Romans 10:17

Definition of liberalism

1: the quality or state of being liberal
2aoften capitalized : a movement in modern Protestantism emphasizing intellectual liberty and the spiritual and ethical content of Christianity
b: a theory in economics emphasizing individual freedom from restraint and usually based on free competition, the self-regulating market, and the gold standard (see GOLD STANDARD sense 1)
c: a political philosophy based on belief in progress, the essential goodness of the human race, and the autonomy (see AUTONOMY sense 2) of the individual and standing for the protection of political and civil libertiesspecifically : such a philosophy that considers government as a crucial instrument for amelioration of social inequities (such as those involving race, gender, or class)

#2. Do you believe sin is an illusion?

#3. You expressed that many denominations are basically all in the same boat. Is KJB Only one of them?

#4. Do you see all religions being valid?

#5. Do you tend to accept the idea that is okay for our government to enforce abortion?

#6. Do you believe a person has a right to indulge in sodomy or do you think it is okay if a father supports their child in being a sodomite?

#7. Do you believe in an Old Earth?

#8. Do you believe that Noah's flood was global?

There is a difference between Liberalism in general vs. Liberalism in Christianity.

According to Wikipedia:

Liberal Protestantism developed in the 19th century out of a need to adapt Christianity to a modern intellectual context. With the acceptance of Charles Darwin's theory of natural selection, some traditional Christian beliefs, such as parts of the Genesis creation narrative, became difficult to defend. Unable to ground faith exclusively in an appeal to scripture or the person of Jesus Christ, liberals, according to theologian and intellectual historian Alister McGrath, "sought to anchor that faith in common human experience, and interpret it in ways that made sense within the modern worldview."[8] Beginning in Germany, liberal theology was influenced by several strands of thought, including the Enlightenment's high view of human reason and Pietism's emphasis on religious experience and interdenominational tolerance.[9]

The sources of religious authority recognized by liberal Protestants differed from conservative Protestants. Traditional Protestants understood the Bible to be uniquely authoritative (sola scriptura); all doctrine, teaching and the church itself derive authority from it.[10] A traditional Protestant could therefore affirm that "what Scripture says, God says."[11] Liberal Christians rejected the doctrine of biblical inerrancy or infallibility,[12] which they saw as the idolatry (fetishism) of the Bible.[13] Instead, liberals sought to understand the Bible through modern biblical criticism, such as historical criticism, that began to be used in the late 1700s to ask if biblical accounts were based on older texts or whether the Gospels recorded the actual words of Jesus.[9] The use of these methods of biblical interpretation led liberals to conclude that "none of the New Testament writings can be said to be apostolic in the sense in which it has been traditionally held to be so".[14] This conclusion made sola scriptura an untenable position. In its place, liberals identified the historical Jesus as the "real canon of the Christian church".[15]

German theologian William Wrede wrote that "Like every other real science, New Testament Theology has its goal simply in itself, and is totally indifferent to all dogma and Systematic Theology". Theologian Hermann Gunkel affirmed that "the spirit of historical investigation has now taken the place of a traditional doctrine of inspiration".[16] Episcopal bishop Shelby Spong declared that the literal interpretation of the Bible is heresy.[17][18]

The two groups also disagreed on the role of experience in confirming truth claims. Traditional Protestants believed scripture and revelation always confirmed human experience and reason. For liberal Protestants, there were two ultimate sources of religious authority: the Christian experience of God as revealed in Jesus Christ and universal human experience. In other words, only an appeal to common human reason and experience could confirm the truth claims of Christianity.[19]

In general, liberal Christians are not concerned with the presence of biblical errors or contradictions.[12] Liberals abandoned or reinterpreted traditional doctrines in light of recent knowledge. For example, the traditional doctrine of original sin was rejected for being derived from Augustine of Hippo, whose views on the New Testament were believed to have been distorted by his involvement with Manichaeism. Christology was also reinterpreted. Liberals stressed Christ's humanity, and his divinity became "an affirmation of Jesus exemplifying qualities which humanity as a whole could hope to emulate".[8]

Liberal Christians sought to elevate Jesus' humane teachings as a standard for a world civilization freed from cultic traditions and traces of traditionally pagan types of belief in the supernatural.[20] As a result, liberal Christians placed less emphasis on miraculous events associated with the life of Jesus than on his teachings.[21] The debate over whether a belief in miracles was mere superstition or essential to accepting the divinity of Christ constituted a crisis within the 19th-century church, for which theological compromises were sought.[22][pages needed] Many liberals prefer to read Jesus' miracles as metaphorical narratives for understanding the power of God.[23][better source needed] Not all theologians with liberal inclinations reject the possibility of miracles, but many reject the polemicism that denial or affirmation entails.[24]

Nineteenth-century liberalism had an optimism about the future in which humanity would continue to achieve greater progress.[8] This optimistic view of history was sometimes interpreted as building the kingdom of God in the world.[9]

Progress! You actually quoted from the NLT! (New Living Translation) and another non-KJV Bible (in Psalms 12:6-7 and John 7:24). Hallelujah! There is hope for you yet!

You're not turning into a Liberal, are you?

Do you accept the historical claim that only liberal groups rejected the Bible before the NIV popularized the Modern Translation movement?

rephrase the question..."the Bible?" "historical liberal groups"
New translations came out as more accurate information was discovered and new translatons also came out to make the Bible more easier to read....had nothing to do with "historical liberals"

Do you believe sin is an illusion?

Well can you play catch with it? It is a transgression against God. But I do not think you know what biblical sins are.

Do you see all religions being valid?

Valid? Define valid and what religions are you talking about? If you are talking about Christian religions, Christ will be the judge of that.

Do you tend to accept the idea that is okay for our government to enforce abortion?

LOL I believe in the 900 yard shot!

Do you believe a person has a right to indulge in sodomy or do you think it is okay if a father supports their child in being a sodomite?

I don't believe that too many Christians believe in sodomy. But it appears you have your own definition of things running around in your head, so I am not going to presume that I know what your are talking about....and warning sex talk goes south pretty quickly on the forum.

Do you believe in an Old Earth?

This is an interesting topic. But since my profession in the military dealt with Quantum science...what do you think? But it would be a good thread to open.
