Christians are not perfect, we are being changed by the indwelling spirit, but we will only be perfect following our resurrection, until then we are sinners saved by grace.
Sinners who still sin.

"but we will only be perfect following our resurrection" <--- Agreed. it is a future thing.

Romans 8:23

23 "Not only so, but we ourselves, who have the firstfruits of the Spirit, groan inwardly as we wait eagerly for our adoption to sonship, the redemption of our bodies."

Having a new nature IMO simply means that we learn to hate sin to its core whereas in the past, it didn't bother us at all, at least for some of us. We also have "an Advocate" if we do sin! :)

Being freed from the power of sin, aren't we to "work out our own salvation"?
I've always believed sanctification was done progressively and there are those who think it is a right away kind of thing. But, maybe they are (or myself) confusing it with "justification" which, IMO is right away.
Pretty sure this doesn't make a lot of sense...lol- sorry!!!

Scripture says we are 'just men made perfect' before we get a resurrected body.
So once we are a new creation, we are perfect at that moment, we don't get any better with time.
Scriture says you have come, so your there already spiritually and perfected. Getting a new body does not make you more perfect.
Hebrews 12

Hebrews 12:22-24

New King James Version

22 But you have come to Mount Zion and to the city of the living God, the heavenly Jerusalem, to an innumerable company of angels, 23 to the [a]general assembly and church of the firstborn who are registered in heaven, to God the Judge of all, to the spirits of just men made perfect, 24 to Jesus the Mediator of the new covenant, and to the blood of sprinkling that speaks better things than that of Abel.

No resurrected bodies yet for the people above, but they are made perfect.
Same is said in Ephesians 2 as our current spiritual reality.

4 But God, who is rich in mercy, because of His great love with which He loved us, 5 even when we were dead in trespasses, made us alive together with Christ (by grace you have been saved), 6 and raised us up together, and made us sit together in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus,

I did not say any such thing, reread what scripture says.
Just trying to understand your comment:

"If v9 is a lie, then you could not be saved. But it is true and is no lie, so you then are saved, as your new spirit joined to the Lord God, can not sin."

Just trying to understand your comment:

"If v9 is a lie, then you could not be saved. But it is true and is no lie, so you then are saved, as your new spirit joined to the Lord God, can not sin."
as scripture says, "He who sins is of the devil"

But for a believer, born of God they have God dwelling inside of them by His Spirit, they are joined to the Lord as one spirit with Him and do not and can not sin
But see this state of their existence is of the Spirit of God, them being born of God are saved and do not and can not sin in the spirit.
But a saved person can sin in their flesh, the body, mind, soul part of the flesh. But the spirit God creates in us is a NEW creation, not of the old creation.
What exact part of us is saved? it is our spirits. The body is dead because of sin.
We will receive a new glorified body, we do not get the old body back at our resurrection.

1 Corinthians 5:5
deliver such a one to Satan for the destruction of the flesh, that his spirit may be saved in the day of the Lord Jesus.

2 Corinthians 5:17
Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new.

Rev 21
Now I saw a new heaven and a new earth, for the first heaven and the first earth had passed away. Also there was no more sea. 2 Then I, [a]John, saw the holy city, New Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband. 3 And I heard a loud voice from heaven saying, “Behold, the tabernacle of God is with men, and He will dwell with them, and they shall be His people. God Himself will be with them and be their God. 4 And God will wipe away every tear from their eyes; there shall be no more death, nor sorrow, nor crying. There shall be no more pain, for the former things have passed away.”
5 Then He who sat on the throne said, “Behold, I make all things new.” And He said [b]to me, “Write, for these words are true and faithful.”

Isaiah 65:17

The Glorious New Creation

“For behold, I create new heavens and a new earth; And the former shall not be remembered or come to mind.

Even God forgets our sins unto judgement, there is no longer the penalty of death on a new creation.

Hebrews 8

A New Covenant

7 For if that first covenant had been faultless, then no place would have been sought for a second. 8 Because finding fault with them, He says: “Behold, the days are coming, says the Lord, when I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel and with the house of Judah— 9 not according to the covenant that I made with their fathers in the day when I took them by the hand to lead them out of the land of Egypt; because they did not continue in My covenant, and I disregarded them, says the Lord.

10 For this is the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel after those days, says the Lord: I will put My laws in their mind and write them on their hearts; and I will be their God, and they shall be My people. 11 None of them shall teach his neighbor, and none his brother, saying, ‘Know the Lord,’ for all shall know Me, from the least of them to the greatest of them. 12 For I will be merciful to their unrighteousness, and their sins [b]and their lawless deeds I will remember no more.”

No longer remember our sins and lawless deeds to destroy us in hellfire. Because we believers all things are become new with God and He forgave us all our inequities.

A New Covenant

7 For if that first covenant had been faultless, then no place would have been sought for a second.

The new covenant is perfect and faultess. And therefore all the members in the new covenant are also faultless and perfected. But see this is Not of the FLESH, it is of the Spirit.

Jesus says this is what happen for believers. It is a truth people who are in the flesh dont comprehend. You know we will be judged for our deeds and all that will burn up in the fire for the deeds not done in the Lord. ut that is speaking of the deeds doen in flesh, not the deeds done in God.

  1. Matthew 5:48

Therefore you shall be perfect, just as your Father in heaven is perfect.
  2. John 3:20-21

    New King James Version

20 For everyone practicing evil hates the light and does not come to the light, lest his deeds should be exposed. 21 But he who does the truth comes to the light, that his deeds may be clearly seen, that they have been done in God.”

It may be very dangerous for someone to believe he never sins. Not asking forgiveness may mean not being forgiven.

1 John 1
9 If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
10 If we say that we have not sinned, we make Him a liar, and His word is not in us.

Commits a sin or practices sin?
Not seeing the difference between the flesh and the spirit yet?

Those born of God wont continue practicing sin as God conforms them to His will. The Spirit actually prays for the saints of God.
Christ prayed for Peter who is of God, Christ did not pray for Judas who was of the devil. Peter turned back to the Lord, Judas did not.

God's will is your sanctification, actually those he has called to be his, not those of the world, those of the devil.

Romans 8
27 Now He who searches the hearts knows what the mind of the Spirit is, because He makes intercession for the saints according to the will of God.

28 And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose. 29 For whom He foreknew, He also predestined to be conformed to the image of His Son, that He might be the firstborn among many brethren.

Romans 8
1 There is therefore now no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus, who[a] do not walk according to the flesh, but according to the Spirit. 2 For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus has made me free from the law of sin and death. 3 For what the law could not do in that it was weak through the flesh, God did by sending His own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh, on account of sin: He condemned sin in the flesh, 4 that the righteous requirement of the law might be fulfilled in us who do not walk according to the flesh but according to the Spirit. 5 For those who live according to the flesh set their minds on the things of the flesh, but those who live according to the Spirit, the things of the Spirit. 6 For to be [b]carnally minded is death, but to be spiritually minded is life and peace. 7 Because the [c]carnal mind is enmity against God; for it is not subject to the law of God, nor indeed can be. 8 So then, those who are in the flesh cannot please God.

9 But you are not in the flesh but in the Spirit, if indeed the Spirit of God dwells in you. Now if anyone does not have the Spirit of Christ, he is not His. 10 And if Christ is in you, the body is dead because of sin, but the Spirit is life because of righteousness.

Romas 8 is clear enough written. Christians do not walk according to the flesh; they live by the Spirit and walk by the Spirit. There is then no condemnation for them from God.
You either have the Spirit of Christ or you are of the devil.
People who are of the devil are unsaved.
People who are of God are so because God has made them born again. Only born-again people listen to Christ and then believe in Christ.

John 8
39 They answered and said to Him, “Abraham is our father.”

Jesus said to them, “If you were Abraham’s children, you would do the works of Abraham. 40 But now you seek to kill Me, a Man who has told you the truth which I heard from God. Abraham did not do this. 41 You do the deeds of your father.”

Then they said to Him, “We were not born of fornication; we have one Father—God.”

42 Jesus said to them, “If God were your Father, you would love Me, for I proceeded forth and came from God; nor have I come of Myself, but He sent Me. 43 Why do you not understand My speech? Because you are not able to listen to My word. 44 You are of your father the devil, and the desires of your father you want to do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and does not stand in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaks a lie, he speaks from his own resources, for he is a liar and the father of it. 45 But because I tell the truth, you do not believe Me. 46 Which of you convicts Me of sin? And if I tell the truth, why do you not believe Me?

47 He who is of God hears God’s words; therefore you do not hear, because you are not of God.”

And that is my point also. Big difference between committing a sin and practicing sin.

Here are all the words 'practice' in the NT
I would generally lump sin practicers as not having the Spirit of Christ living in them.
It has quite a lot of negativity meanings and just a few positive ones.

Let's look at the logical and doctrinal inconsistencies of teach that Christians can never being sinless on earth.

The Bible says being sinless is being innocent and guiltless of sinning and transgressing the law of God.

Sinless is not sinning. Sinful is sinning.

And so, logically speaking, if we are not ever sinless and not sinning, then we are always sinful by sinning.

And so once again logically speaking, as pertaining to the Christian doctrine of sinning from time to time. If we are only sinful some of the time, then we must also be sinless some of the time.

Therefore, the Christian doctrine against Christians ever being sinless and not sinning, can only be taught by those Christians sinning all the time, and not just some of the time.

And so with more logic applied, if we preach only sinning from time to time, we cannot also preach never being sinless at any time.

The real question then is what about the rest of time we are not sinning? Why does that sinless time have to end at all? Why must we change and be sinful at any time? The inconsistency is clear and the question is telling. Especially since Bible doctrine commands man since the garden not to sinfully disobey God,

This shows that those Christians preaching only sinning from time to time, are not really preaching against ever being sinless at any time. What they are preaching is simple double heartedness in the faith of Christ. They preach a Christian lifetime of sometimes sinning and sometimes not sinning.

They are preaching the partial sinless gospel of the double minded in Christ. They are preaching Romans 7 for life.

Which of course is not unheard of since Paul himself spoke of his own affliction at finding himself double hearted in Christ Jesus. And I for one know exactly what that is like, having been there and done that myself.

And so preaching double heartedness and not being sinless all the time, would be one thing I would not do. However, not all Christians leave well enough alone, but must go out there way not only to preach their imperfect partially sinless gospel, but they must also attack the full-time sinless Gospel, which is that of Jesus Christ in the Bible.

Blessed are they that keep judgment, and he that doeth righteousness at all times.

She said, No man, Lord. And Jesus said unto her, Neither do I condemn thee: go, and sin no more.

Their part-time righteous gospel is based upon unbelief in the all the words of the Bible, and some of them resent Christians that believe and do all the word of God, even as we are commanded to do in the Bible with a whole heart. Some even attack preachers of righteousness, and I have even seen some declare such preachers are not saved and condemned to hell.

And why? Because they preach being sinless and doing righteousness at all times like the Bible, while they themselves only preach being sinless part of time? Doesn't seem very fair to me.:contemplate:
"Whoever has been born of God does not sin, for His seed remains in him; and he cannot sin, because he has been born of God." 1 John 3:9 NKJV

Here is the Amplified Version/ commentary

No one who is born of God [deliberately, knowingly, and habitually] practices sin, because God’s seed [His principle of life, the essence of His righteous character] remains [permanently] in him [who is born again—who is reborn from above—spiritually transformed, renewed, and set apart for His purpose]; and he [who is born again] cannot habitually [live a life characterized by] sin, because he is born of God and longs to please Him.

All people are born spiritually dead. We are sinners, whether we know God's law or not.
When we become Christians, we are forgiven our sins, (past, present and future) Btw, they were all future when Christ died for them.
So our spirit is cleansed, born, a Temple where God dwells, separate from our flesh - where sin still dwells. We are to reckon our old selves as dead, dead to our old ways BUT we still fail to control ourselves and backslide. Like newborns, we must learn about our new life and self control over temptations. The Holy Spirit sanctified us spiritually in an instant but does that mean our behavior becomes instantly holy and pure, loving and Christlike? No, the world would see this drastic transformation in everyone. Now sometimes a drastic change is seen, a healing, from a drug addicted tank member to a Pastor, but the change ( in our thinking, motivations, behavior, the love we have towards God and others) usually is gradual.
Gradually the Spirit transforms us into the likeness of Christ; so it takes years, even decades to gain control, to say no to sin, be more forgiving, kind, loving, patient, joyful, faithful, hopeful, etc., as we feed on His Word and as HE guides us. He also has prepared good works for us to do here and there.

yes, and that verse is referring to the inner man of the Spirit, John by using 'born of God' shows that.
That inner man of the Spirit is spiritually perfected and does not and cannot sin. Hebrews 12:22-24

However, we are more than spirit, we also have flesh, a mind, (soul) that can and do sin.

8 He who sins is of the devil, for the devil has sinned from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that He might destroy the works of the devil.

9 Whoever has been born of God does not sin, for His seed remains in him; and he cannot sin, because he has been born of God.

Our relationship is of the Spirit and it is the spirit that is saved, as believers are of the Lord, and not of the devil.
Hey, if we were of the devil, then we would not believe and be saved. Salvation is of the Lord.
John 4:24
God is Spirit, and those who worship Him must worship in spirit and truth.”

And then finally there is the fallen away Christian gospel

Are you speaking of "Falling from Grace"?

or are you trying to describe "coming to the knowledge of the Truth" but not into "faith is accepted as Righteousness".

So, if you are trying to discuss.. "Fallen from Grace"... = this is a simply a Born again Christian, who has broken faith., .. .not broken Salvation.

Their "Faith" is wrong, deceived, subverted, but their Salvation is still Jesus their Savior.
Their Eternal Life is still found "in Christ" where they exist, born again Spiritually.

Their MIND of Faith is messed up... as that is what deception does to you, when it owns your faith.

However, our body and our mind, or perhaps soul can and still does sin. But the new spirit is perfected in Christ and does not sin.
Always got to mess up perfectly good Bible preaching, to qualify it with man's sinful religion.

And the very God of peace sanctify you wholly; and I pray God your whole spirit and soul and body be preserved blameless unto the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.

The Bible Jesus comes to save the soul and spirit and the life, not just the soul and spirit from how we live.

Having a pure heart with holy manner of life, is Bible.

Having outward righteousness with unclean hearts, is Phariseeism.

But there is no such thing as loving God with the heart, while sinning against Him with the flesh.

Like scripture clearly says right here,

1 John 3:8-10
New King James Version
8 He who sins is of the devil, for the devil has sinned from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that He might destroy the works of the devil. 9 Whoever has been born of God does not sin, for His seed remains in him; and he cannot sin, because he has been born of God.

Applying this to our heart and spirit, and not our body, is not the Bible. As we see by the above verse.

Bible teaching is that sinning with the devil begins with our soul and spirit by lusting for the world, and then physical by fulfilling it with the flesh.

But every man is tempted, when he is drawn away of his own lust, and enticed. Then when lust hath conceived, it bringeth forth sin: and sin, when it is finished, bringeth forth death.

That's why Jesus comes to cleanse within the platter first, that our life may also be clean indeed with a pure heart. He does not come to cleanse within us apart from our continue sinful living.

Jesus doesn't just save the soul, and not the life. After all, it's our life and works that we are judged by God in the end. Not our inner beliefs only.

If v9 is a lie, then you could not be saved. But it is true and is no lie, so you then are saved, as your new spirit joined to the Lord God, can not sin.

V9 is true. Just not your teaching of it, in order to justify continued blameful living.

You're simply teaching another version of the Christian soul-separation doctrine, where our soul is no more judged with our works. It teaches the deliverance of Christ is from taking responsibility for our lives we live. The soul is no longer 'responsible' for what our 'bodies' do.

It's the ultimate in religious hypocrisy, where we would literally claim our inward religion has nothing to do with our outward religion.

And so, some Christians teach that their soul is now separate from all deeds of the body, and so cannot be judged for them, and you say it's your spirit.

Argue against scripture all you wish, but if so your doctrine is false.
I argue against your perversion of it all I wish. If you don't want me to, then don't come to me for it.

As I said, you were doing great Bible teaching, until you nose dived into trying to justify and explain away how your life is not yet converted, like your new sinless 'spirit' is.

And the very God of peace sanctify you wholly; and I pray God your whole spirit and soul and body be preserved blameless unto the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.

It's not the Bible complete conversion of soul, spirit, and bodily living. The Christian gospel of believe first to be saved, and then do some repenting down the road, is the reason they leave their lives unconverted, while claiming pure and perfection conversion within.

As the Bible shows, there is no such thing as pure heart with a sinning body.

In hopes of getting back on track here.

It's impossible to teaching only sinning from time to time as a Christian, and yet never being sinless at any time in life.

If we are not sinning in spirit nor in deed, we are not sinful. We are sinless at the time.

Therefore, Christians much either teaching being sinful all the time, or being sinless some of the time, while being sinful some of the time.

That of course, is double hearted Christian religion for life.

The Bible teaching being newborn sinless as Jesus begotten of God, and if we do sin to become sinful, then we still have the Advocate for the world to be born again sinless as Jesus.

This is indeed a great misunderstanding.

But to be clear, being "double hearted" is one kind of problem, and being (as with Paul) double in body and heart, the one waring with the other, is another problem entirely.

In Paul's example, in his heart he was not at war, but only that his new heart remained in his old body of sin and death. In which case, there is accounted no sin-- because one who is born anew of the spirit of God in his heart is under no condemnation--and yet the old body of sin still is and will still die as a result. This is what Paul referred to regarding those who are "alive and remain"--meaning, alive in God and in spirit, but remaining in the world and in the flesh until the passing of the flesh.

This same "alive and remain" (righteous in a sinful world), was first modeled by Jesus, who having died for the sins of the world, remained for forty days sinless in the flesh being accredited with righteousness from above. Which is to say that His resurrection and His ascension represented two completely separate events--the first being salvation, and the latter being eternal life. The one is God with us, and the other us with God, or as Paul came to say regarding his own time of being alive and remaining, "for me, to live is Christ."
