Skepticism versus gullibility
Just heard a sermon that came down pretty hard on skepticism.
Trying to process how I feel about that. Thanks for listening. (send help)
It appears that there is no room for healthy skepticism in the church.
But for some reason the skeptics weren't called gullible. No one was, actually.
We are offered apologetics to counteract skepticism. (unbelief)
I was raised evangelical Protestant.
I remember my state of shock when I found out where the Bible actually came from.
Not what the church told me.
I had never heard of the canon of scripture.
I thought a cannon was a war relic, not a religious relic. - Ha!
Same with the hell doctrine.
No one informed me that there were three biblical doctrines of the final judgment.
They did bad-mouth Universalism though.
I had no idea that Universalism was actually a Christian doctrine from the early church in the East.
Which is where the church came from, hello?
And what about inerrancy? Don't get me started... Grr...
Anyone else want to rant on either aspect? Thanks.

I'd like to thank the Lord for this reward... with out His Word I'd be lost.
And, I'd like to thank my momma and them for spanking that backside when I was growing up.
Without their home training and discipline, I would have not learned the fear of the Lord.

That’s is not true… and Moses was not a Jew. You are lumping terms together without actually utilizing the meaning.
Even the Jewish almanac disagrees with you..

I believe Jesus--John 17:3--This means eternal life, their knowing you(FATHER) THE ONLY TRUE GOD, and the one whom you sent forth Jesus Christ---see one must know 2 beings to get eternal life--The Father as the only true God and Jesus the one he sent---proving God did not come down here. So why does one not have to know the holy spirit to get eternal life?

You should ask them if its true. I cant answer for them nor will i be standing by them at judgement, each will stand alone. There is no perfection in imperfect mortal men.

If he says the trinity is true, then all who do are calling Jesus a liar who teaches-John 17:3--This means eternal life, their knowing you(Father) THE ONLY TRUE GOD and the one whom you sent forth Jesus Christ--See its 100% clear-Jesus teaches the Father is the only true God and one must know him as that and know Jesus to get eternal life, thus centuries ago through these 2 Thess 2:3 at their councils created God into a trinity, removed his name from his bible and screwed up translating to fit their false council teachings, thus satan mislead billions for centuries and beat ones living now centuries ago out of their chance at eternal life. Why? Because they wont believe Jesus. Paul did-1 Cor 8:6--There is one God to all-THE FATHER.

The Sanhedrin, pharisees, etc, who Jesus stood before and sent him to his death were Israelite, Jewish religious leaders.

With all do respect, do you know what a Israelite is? And I just presented the Jewish almanac.
Furthermore..
We know that Saul was the first king of Israel and that John was the first man called Baptist but who was the first jew? Neither Adam, Seth or Noah are called jew. Nor were Abraham Isaac or Jacob. Moses was not called a jew and neither were Saul, David or Solomon called jew. In fact you cannot find the word jew in the first eleven books of the Bible.
by Christ’s time the inhabitants of Judea —the Jews— were a mixed lot, most of whom Christ rejected. Yes, Christ's ancestry was of the tribe of Judah but, in those days no pure pedigree Israelites were called Jews, even if from the
tribe of Judah. Only foreigners who also lived in Judea were called Jews.
Isn't it interesting that we can read over five hundred pages of the bible before we find a jew anywhere yet those who call themselves jew today claim the first five books of the bible and call it there Torah.
Do you not find it very strange that those who claim to have written the first five books of the Bible and call themselves jew , can't find the word jew written in the book anywhere they call there own bible and claim to have written ?
Jesus Christ tells John in Revelation 2:9 "I know the blasphemy of them which say they are jews and are not but are the SYNAGOGUE OF SATAN ". We know that God changed the name of Abram to Abraham Gen. 17:5 and that God changed the name of Jacob to Israel Gen. 32:28 but no where in the Bible do we find where God changed the name of his chosen people Israel to jew! Therefore there is no authority by which those who say they are jews can claim to be Israel! ~ Christian Guard.

The Jewish historian Josephus (100 A.D.) said the title of 'Jew' began with the SMALL remnant of the 3 tribe "house of Judah" that returned to Jerusalem to rebuild the city and walls. The MAJORITY of Israelites, the ten northern tribes of Israel, had already been scattered out of the holy land about 120 years prior... to the 3 tribe "house of Judah" going captive to Babylon.
Thus, YOUR BRAGGING like you know what you're talking about has backfired on you. Because you obviously reveal YOUR LACK OF OLD TESTAMENT BIBLE STUDY.
1 Kings 11 begins the subject of God having split old Israel into TWO separate kingdoms in Solomon's day.
"kingdom of Judah" = JEWS; 3 tribes ONLY - Judah, Benjamin, and eventually Levi.
"kingdom of Israel" = NON-JEWS; 10 tribes of Israel, the MAJORITY of Israelites - Ephraim, Manasseh, Gad, Dan, Naphtali, Zebulun, Simeon, Reuben, Issachar, Asher.
And oh how today's JEWS love... to claim that they ONLY represent the chosen seed of Israel, when actually they are one of most MIXED group of peoples on the planet, having mixed with the Canaanite foreigners of Bible history!
The MAJORITY of Israelites of the 'seed' today are hidden by God, when He scattered them among the Gentiles, and removed knowledge of His feasts, new moons, and sabbaths. They became as Gentiles, living among Gentiles. The Jews only... remained in the holy land and kept their heritage as a 'part' of old Israel.

But that's not the most important thing from the Old Testament Books they don't know about. The Book of Isaiah referring to Jesus Christ as "Immanuel" which means God with us per Matthew 1:23, and Isaiah 9:6 showing Jesus' titles of "The Mighty God" and "The Everlasting Father", is also what many Jews and Christian brethren are totally unaware of, or refuse to believe.

To not consider Jesus Christ to be God means you cannot be saved... meaning you have no offering for your sin
