Hebrews 2.15: "...deliver them who through fear of death were all their lifetime subject to bondage" is an interesting insight here.

Yes. Interestingly, during the Millennium, very long life will return. The prophet Isaiah, in writing about the Millennial Kingdom, says that "only sinners will die at 100".

Mankind was afflicted with physical death because of sin as well. The Hebrew actually reads, "Dying, you will die." Adam and Eve began to die ever-so-slightly, the moment they sinned.

Actually, tā·mūṯ should be understood to be the second death. The way I understand Gen 2:17 was that God told Adam that if he ate of the fruit that he would become a candidate for the second death in the future. With this being the case, if a sinful man repents of his sins, then he will live, but if a righteous man sins and does not repent of his sin then his righteous will be blotted and he will become a candidate for the second death. Ez 18.

The letter of the law and the spirit of the law only seem to be at odds in Scripture because a crucial element is often overlooked: our motivation. Those motivated not by love for God and man will seek God's acceptance by fulfilling the letter, but Jesus came to show us that His acceptance of us has nothing to do with our obedience, but His own grace. Christian Origination.

However, Christian Obligation - that which we're required of God after we've been saved - is obedience not only to the letter, but also the spirit: not only are we still expected to refrain from adultery, but our love for God compels us to not even look in lust. If we're keeping the spirit of the law, we'll by default be keeping the letter. If we strive to keep the letter only, we attempt the impossible, for "the carnal mind is enmity with God; it is not subject to the law of God, neither indeed can be.
The Letter of the Law is gone. it's a new, totally different due to the Grace that is in one who is Born Again in the Holy Spirit, as one is with Jesus Christ.
If we love Jesus we do his will.

"Church" when it is capitalized, typically means the collection of ALL true believers--the Bride of Christ--those washed in the Blood of the Lamb. What I meant when I said that I do most of my work within the Church--I counsel other believers in what the Bible does and does not teach. While I am "prepared to give a reason for the hope that I have" to unbelievers, my Lord Jesus has directed me to work with believers. Not tied to any particular church or denomination. I have attended Baptist churches, a Charismatic church, and a Pentecostal church most recently--they were all very Bible-centered--but not legalistic. I joke that I am a "Bapticostal Christian"--but mostly, I just say that I am a Christian, if anyone asks. :)
Ah, same ranks here pretty much. A normal person would lead into this, but I'm curious if you are aware of the diff in how we reason v how an Easterner reasons, a la come let us reason together? Or another way to ask is maybe do you know the opposite of "satan's dialectic?" Which wow I have never googled for some reason, that will make my life so much easier lol. I'd send a link but iPad here sorry

Humans can't obey the Ten Commandments? Really?
  • Does Satan put a gun to our heads and force us to break them?
  • Does Satan somehow barricade our God-provided "way of escape" out of temptation?
See, true Christians are courageous enough to admit that all sin is a choice, and if we love Jesus, we'll ask Him to help us choose to take the path out of temptation, because "greater is He that is in you than he that is in the world".

Antinomianists are pathetic cowards who know the above is true, but because their lives are not in harmony with that truth, they seek to excuse their choice to crucify and shame my Jesus afresh with such asininity as "nobody can keep the law". You're right, no unconverted, unsurrendered Antinomianist will ever be able to.
You have a prejudice and a problem, and you have even given it a name. Which you call anyone who does not see things as you do. But your vision is skewed by prejudice, which is hatred.

Don't expect a crowd to cheer you on in your folly.

As for the error that you are acting out...it is the same as those who returned to the law after being rescued from it. Paul preached against such a position, saying that to do such, is to crucify Christ again, as if He never went to the cross, as if He needs us to do what He could not accomplish, instead of just receiving the gift. But your position gives life to that old man that should have died, and a job that should have been completed in Christ. Such is unbelief.

But I am through with entertaining you in your hate-based prejudice. You will have to learn the hard way. Squirm.

Ha prolly ahead of me there then, so, what is the opposite, iyo? Ty

Since Hegelian dialectic is a form of political manipulation, the opposite, I guess, would be true freedom? Classical dialectics was a philosophical form that attempted to establish truth.

Wadr I think "classical" ="Hegelian" in this context, and the opposite = "Eastern" or "naive."
A search of the phrase seems to bear this out

No--they were separated by about 2,100 years. The Hebrews-Israelites-Jews, at their best, always considered the neighboring heathen nations to be stupid, evil and crazy (not without cause, if you look at the accounts from those nations, like the Ras Shamras documents).

Jesus Himself taught against the usual Middle Eastern emotional reaction to insult, which was rage hate and violence. He said that we should "turn the other cheek". When someone in the ancient M.E. was "spoiling for a fight" that person might walk up to his proposed combatant and slap him in the face. Jesus taught--"Don't take the bait. Ignore it and walk away, praying for peace as you go. You will be blessed if you do. Human pride is an enemy of peace." The alternative is constant warfare.

Western thought and rationality has been heavily influenced by Greek philosophy but it has also been influenced by the gospel.

well I guess Hegel would not be born for another 2100 years at least, sure, but now I'm curious if you could state any diff simply, say in a sentence or two, ty.

Hmm. I always got that impression too, but now I wonder. An excerpt from my current study, comment if you like,
"
A Tale of Two Sisters

Biblical Israel was never a gene pool but always a school of thought. It was never a local effort but always a global one. Grafted on the Canaanite schools of Salem (Genesis 14:18) and Mamre (13:18), and having absorbed all the wealth and women of Shechem (34:29) it was formed from tributaries ranging from Babylon (Abraham, Sarah), Assyria (Haran) to Egypt (Moses; also see Exodus 12:35-36) and from Midian in Arabia(Jethro) to Jericho (Rahab), Moab (Ruth), the Hittites (Uriah and Bathsheba) and a further influx of people from all over: 32,000 Midianite virgins (Numbers 31:18 and 31:35), a certain "mixed multitude" (Exodus 12:38) and countless others (Deuteronomy 20:14, Exodus 20:10). Hence the Lord could say of Israel: "Your origin and your birth are from the land of the Canaanite, your father was an Amorite and your mother a Hittite" (Ezekiel 16:3). Even Judah's international character lasted well until Roman times (Acts 2:9-11, 8:27)..."

Actually, this verse should read, "the wages of sin is the second death." When we speak of the consequences of sin it is always that the person will be judged unrighteous at the time of the Judgement and they will then be cast into the lake of fire which is the second death.

Any other understanding is false.
Actually we all were dead already from birth to our natural mother. Adam and Eve died when they disobeyed God. Thus all of their offspring were born dead. Dead people cannot bear live children. Jesus confirms what people are without what he brought:

"And another of his disciples said unto him, Lord, suffer me first to go and bury my father.
But Jesus said unto him, Follow me; and let the dead bury their dead." Matt 8:21-22

But then this is why Jesus came to men:

"The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly." John 10:10

Would not then a second death be that which a born again person dies when after receiving the Life which Jesus is then choose to cast it away?

When they return to death that would be the 2nd time for them.
